As for his first students... So far from the looks of this, charles himself is still a kid. So they may not be his students yet, just his peers. Besides, according to the films, Jean was recruited in the 80s, and Scott post-vietnam towards 3 mile island incident. Both of which are long after this film. Which means already the movies themselves suggest they weren't his first students. All we do know is that beast was there at the start according to the films and his remarks in X3. So no, Jean and Scott just 'think' or are 'bragging' they were his very first students. There's already too far of a discrepency between when they joined to have both been first students anyway. That's assuming they even said that in the films. So no, that points kind of moot. This movie is set in a period of time that pre-dates when they joined according to the movies, so including them would have thrown the whole continuity off with it's time frame placement. Then again we also don't know how this film ends, so there could be a very good reason why charles started fresh with a new class. The helmet could be explained in this or subsequently as maybe he thought he found a way around the previous helmet design, or Charles doesn't know of the helmet and that's how Erik stays out of Charles reach while doing his acts that are against what charles agrees to. Still much story room left to use. Especially since he knows charles disapproves, so he'd need a method to stay under the radar when doing things charles wouldn't approve of. They recruited Jean before the split, but we don't know for certain they actually split in this as opposed to just the birth of their seperate ideas. That depends on the movie itself, the trailer doesn't say one way or the other. The split could be building, but they could also have split and started to work together again because of a subsequent film. Friends tend to do that, fight, take time apart to pursue goals, work together again. XMO:W Xavier walking, well so far nothing in the trailer suggests he's paralyzed pre-80s. The wheelchair footage was from X1 and X3 that was used, not this movie. All we know for certain based on what they've said, is this movie will cover why charles goes bald possibly. I'm not saying it'll mesh 100%, but it does mesh more than you're giving it credit for. This trailer isn't enough to refute or prove one way or the other. I do look forward to an X4, but I don't mind them doing an early days trilogy first or alternating if it gives them elements to use for a later film. All we know for X4 is that Chuck has no body, and that storm and wolverine are in charge of the school. Potentially Colossus and beast too. Before making hasty judgements, wait until the movie is actually out, then check nitpickers or other continuity furious sites to see how much it lines up before condemning based on a trailer that really doesn't say one way or the other. |

Not wanting to see the movie is one thing, a "boycott" is another, and your attitude is simply ignorant and childish. "Hopefully after about 3 or 4 mote crappy X-Men movies." Here's your problem. You're not "not interested" in the movie. You're ignoring a known talented cast and a fantastic director who has already shown he is good being behind the camera of a comic adaption. I find it interesting that you can write this off so easily yet say "I can still enjoy Transformers 3" after the complete racist robot/4th grade humor-filled Transformers 2. Yes, there are continuity issues does suck. But if the movie is good, it should go beyond those issues. Let's be honest: you had it out for this movie from the beginning. It could get 90% on RottenTomatoes and you'd still "boycott" it. |

For X-men, If it had Cyclops or Jean Grey or Storm, I would go see it, because those are the Characters that we all saw in the first 3 and got to know in the movies, cartoons, and comics. I don't blame the actors or the director, my blame goes to FOX for just throwing X-men movies out just to keep the license. They know good and well this movie will suck, but will still make double their money back. But they won't get any from me. Like I said, I hope you all enjoy the movie, I think it's going to suck but that's just my opinion, and a few thousand others on youtube. I'm not the only one skipping this movie. When we have so many other possibly great movies coming out. Seriously, what is your main reason for wanting to see this movie? What appeal does X-men First Class have? For me: Transformers 3: Huge Transforming Robot Badass, that is Prime. Shockwave. Megatron finally getting an Earthmode. Captain America: To see the birth of Cap and the Red Skull Thor: To see Thor use mjolnir Green Lantern: Because my GF wants to. X-men FC: No Cyclops, No Jean grey, No Storm, No appeal whatsoever. |

But seriously, what is your main reason for wanting to see this movie? What appeal does X-men First Class have for you? I really want to understand. |
If you don't see it, 5000 other people will....
I'm hoping we'll get some decent toys out of it, hopefully some Comic Series Figures to fill in the gaps left by Marvel Universe and XMO:Wolverine..... |

A good director with a genuine love of the comic medium. Some very talented cast members (I'm betting Fassbender knocks Magneto out of the park). The oddity of it being a 60's period piece. The sheer insanity (possibly insane genius) of Kevin Bacon being cast as Sebastian Shaw The hawtness of January Jones in white lingerie. Using some of my favorite X-Characters even if it's in a weird timeframe. It's not a continuation of the massive trainwreck that was X3 (Funny how with almost half the budget this movie already looks more polished than X3 or XMO: Wolverine ever did). Quote:

This movie looks good. After this trailer I'm looking forward to it (and Thor and CA but not so much Spidey).
I feel sorry you people saying you won't see it because of continuity. You must a real hard time reading comics then! |

Can someone explain why Magneto is holding a Gun in the Living Room while everybody is watching TV? X-men or not, That's a strange scene in any movie. |

It could simply be a dream sequence.

In Ultimate Spider-Man, his father invented the adhesive compound and Peter designed and built the actual shooters. Maybe this film will go with the Ultimate version. |

Plus the movies tend to be more realistic/limited about Magneto's powers in general...he generally only manipulates metal, as opposed to the uber catch-all mega-powers he has in the comics that they just pseudoscience away as "Mastery of the entire electromagnetic spectrum." He looks like he's struggling with the Submarine. Personally I'm just kinda psyched because it could easily be a shout-out to the Leningrad incident from the comics. Quote:

And I do think with age (in either continuity), Magneto would develop a very high level of control over his powers and be able to manipulate several smaller objects at the same time. But as you said, that's an example of control and not raw power. Maybe it's more of a choice between one really big object or a lot of smaller objects, as opposed to specific power levels, training or technique. |
