Also for the first time in a spidey movie - I loved Peter as equally as Spider-Man and wasnt just marking time until he dons the mask for a change!

100% Agree. I've been a Spidey fan for over 20 years and he's my favorite comic character bar-none. I liked Raimi's first two films but not because they were all that great but because it was Spider-Man on the big screen. It was a first and fun but nowhere near what it should have been. And don't even get me started on the 3rd one. Total shit. But they all suffered from poor casting, acting, design, and story. But this new one was awesome! You can't always stay true to the original, but I think it did a good job of weaving (pun intended) a great Spider-Man Story. And visually it was wait for it, AMAZING!

He's supposed to be a nerdy academic, not an emo skateboarder. He's supposed to be shy and nervous around girls, not sneaking in Gwen's window.

Factor in the clunky plot and the fact they charged an extra $6 for an opening night ticket, and I was severely disappointed. 6/10

I had similar feelings brewing about how Peter was played because of the way it was nothing like 616 Peter Parker. But then I realized they borrowed elements from Ultimate Peter, who is much cooler than 616 ever was. I also happen to be a huge fan of ultimate spidey though so i think your disappointment in how peter was in this movie is understandable if you lack familiarity with Ultimate Peter Parker. Garfield is definitely no 616 Petey but on the bright side...he's no Tobey Maguire either...and that's worth a whole extra point right there :p

Just saw it. Liked it. Stone and Garfield were perfect for the roles. Very comic book feel to movie. Definitely Ultimate Spiderman.

snake5289 07-03-2012 10:08 PM

9.5/10 for me. Absolutely loved it but it had a few very minor ehs that I can forgive due to it's amazingness. Best SM movie to date.

Saint Phe 07-04-2012 12:03 AM

Oh man, it was so awesome! Perfect casting all around. Garfield was outstanding.

TheSymbiote 07-04-2012 02:29 AM

We saw the movie earlier and it was AMAZING!!!

Everything about it was better in our opinion
-Andrew Garfiled was slenderer, funnier, and nerdier(lol) then maguire , if we allowed ourselves to cry we would have from his spectacular performance.
-Emma Stone was better then the Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane from the original trilogy(and so damn hot)
-Flash wasn't a TOTAL A-Hole and didn't look like a grown man
-Uncle Ben was better , especially his death scene(Spoiler Alert? lol)
-The Lizard was good, we understand why they didn't give him his snout. We think its because it would look weird if he was talking with a snout.
-Captain Stacy is a BOSS!
-Aunt May looks younger and less fragile looking, is it wrong that we hope she gets beat up by a villain in the sequel? lol
-Web shooters are better then organic webs
-Stan Lee's cameo was cool

The only thing we didn't like about it would be a slight spoiler so we won't mention it.
We tried watching Spider-Man 1 when we got back home and it was just not as good.

After watching the movie we can offically say that we will no longer tolerate petty complaints about the reboot like
-Peter has "Emo" hair!(Really? Does that even matter?)
-I Don't want to see the origin story again, This is BS hollywood BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BLAH BLAH BLAH(it's 40min of an origin story that was told better this time, and 1hr 30min of new shit!)
-The costume is awful(It's so damn similar the only thing thats different is the waist but they gave him a belt in the video game which takes place after the movie)

And BTW we saw it in IMAX 3D and uh Not Worth It! lol
there were some parts that kinda jump out at you but other that its not much better then 2D.

AND We're DONE! lol

TheSymbiote is absolutely right. And for the record, if I hear one more person complain about "emo Parker" I will kill them. As if Tobey Maguire didn't suck in every way. Two stocky, to stale, not funny and SM 3 emo Tobey was such shit, I almost walked out of the theater. The AG Spidey is not emo, he's more of a nerdy loner. His build, audited, persona, were all better. The cast in all was much better. And the movies origin had so much more going on. It's clearly setting up for future films. And in what other SM movie was his parents mentioned.

I was worried about the costume not being done right, but I have to say it looked bad ass. And to be honest, you don't really notice it that much in the movie. It just looks like Spidey.

I love that they have Gwen (so hot) starting things out and it's updated really well. Drama to come:(

I'm not sure that any SM movie can please all fans, but this one pleased the hell out of me and I'm one picky freak when it comes to Spidey.

Hope everyone gives it a chance. It's worth it.

DogFashionDisco 07-04-2012 07:34 AM

I'm waiting in the theater right now, I hope it's a good flick.

Tiberius 07-04-2012 09:52 AM

It's great. I would of done some things different but damn it is good. I am hoping Sony and Marvel can work something out to add Spider-Man into the next Avengers movie. Stop being greedy assholes and make an epic movie!!!

LORD MARVEL 07-04-2012 10:03 AM

going tonight 6:55 !! cant wait

Hulk97 07-04-2012 11:30 AM

really good film, great set up to a series and hope they build on this with a faster paced film with more Spidey scenes

TheSymbiote 07-04-2012 11:52 AM

The Amazing Spider-Man broke the Tuesday record with $35mil, the previous record was set by Transformers in 2007 with $27.9mil

The only way I would want to see spidey on an avengers team is if it consisted of Spider-Woman, Wolverine, Iron Man, Caprtain America, and Luke Cage with Daredevil cameo and the story being The breakout story of Rykers Island IMO that would be awesome!

^ would be wonderful to see on the Big Screen one day!

Which reminds me, the New Avengers Omnibus comes out in September. I have to pick that up!

Yeah we would love that.
We never really thought spidey would fit in a movie with other heroes but after seeing the new movie we could see it happening. We still can't see wolverine in a avengers movie though

LORD MARVEL 07-04-2012 04:46 PM

Im waiting ...9 more minutes..

Deadp00l 07-04-2012 04:55 PM

This movie was amazing! I loved every character. I put myself in peter's shoes making it feel like I was part of the movie (as weird as the sounds). The Lizard was great his plan reminded me of the first episode of Spiderman TAS. Garfield did a fantastic job he's perfect as Peter/Spidey. I enjoyed every minute of it and it makes me want all the toys for some reason and a spidey costume.

LORD MARVEL 07-04-2012 07:34 PM

There is a scene mid way thru credits...but is there a scene after credits?

snake5289 07-04-2012 07:43 PM

I heard no but I left after the mid-credits scene so I don't know for sure.

jaybird7072 07-04-2012 07:44 PM

i dont belive so .... i enjoyed the movie alot more then i thought i would... i think garfield makes a great spider-man and looking forward to seeing what part 2 has to offer. :). oh and if you want more of the spiderman the game starts after the movie so its kind of cool..

LORD MARVEL 07-04-2012 08:05 PM

so he gets the belt in the game?

LORD MARVEL 07-04-2012 08:12 PM

I have to say Lizard is bad ass in the movie. Out of all spidey movie villians his role is a tie with Doc ock.

Yep. It kind of looks like Batman's belt.

he was not better than William Defoe's Norman Osborn at all. The only thing that ruined the green Goblin was the lame costume, but acting wise he was definitely better than the Lizard.
