Won't know for certain until better and more pics are up of different angles. Nope wait, after a quick google search, the current on market one is the Talon/Modern one. That pics straight from the WoK Ascension comic where Talon is from. No silver on front or boots. |

WOOT! A bad guy variant! A first! Besides, I can easily make my own"first armor" Darkhawk from the spare I picked up- mostly paint and sanding the helmet to be more squared off. |

Here's a pic of the V2 classic armor, it has the boot stylings similiar to this figure on display.
This guy looks like a mix of the current figure with the v2 markings, and the WoK head possibly. So I've no clue what's going on design wise to which era which is supposed to be. The current figure has all the markings of the WoK cover or Talon, but has the wrong gloves, shoulders, visor color and amulet color. It also has classic style suit references too though minus the wings and head. Which are the only seperating part of the designs too besides the mouth mask. (Classic has a more flattened point that doesn't portrude on top, only in front.) This figure doesn't match any era singularly except for some random modern comics. But none have the full silver feet either. Classic V2 http://www.toyark.com/attachment.php...1&d=1318566389 http://www.toyark.com/attachment.php...1&d=1318566389 Modern http://www.toyark.com/attachments/91...0-wokascdh.jpg Also: Modern http://www.art.com/products/p8381363...r-darkhawk.htm Classic http://www.collectingcomix.com/MarvelDarkHawk-19.htm No neckpiece like the figure has. Semi-Modern Pre-WoK http://www.atomicthinktank.com/viewtopic.php?p=538953 More classic, but with a modern version of the classic v2 at bottom. http://www.writeups.org/fiche.php?id=1118 Modern has the V2 boots too, but the chest markings vary from cover to cover making it modern to classic and vice versa. The interior art suggests they are interchangeable too as both modern since the other doesn't have the classic wings, or classic single arm guard. Plus classic never had the silver armored necklace piece. That's only been on the modern ones. The head is needs a close up. Doesn't look either one is the classic at all. |
IF this is in FACT Talon, I would be all over this like a fat kid on a cupcake!

From the pics so far and comparing them to all the previous and even my own WoK issues. It looks like both are modern, and both are Razor. Neither is classic. See examples in my post above this.
Talon is blue visor and amulet and round shoulders, but same silver markings as this has. For all versions though, the feet are wrong. They should be silver tipped. Not full silver. Classic also only had one wrist guard from the pics(the claw side). Modern has two(both sides). So then yeah, that settles it, these are both modern just from different covers/comics. Though the modern with the silver markings on front shouldn't have any wrist guads. It's supposed to have silver markings on the arms like the legs, and the wings attach like falcon's. This makes sense really, since the modern DH does switch armors on the fly. From standard, to offensive, defensive, speed type, etc. So they probably all are modern so far, but will be called whatever like how modular Ironman is really the bleeding edge armor. Mind you, this is just going from the various art of the character. If you don't want to check my links, you can verify against a google image search, or from the issues themselves. http://www.newsarama.com/comics/0902...war-kings.html Pics at the bottom make it more confusing which is which, but I think we can safely say without the right wing colors, and using only the wristguard on the claw hand, neither can be classic at all besides the helmet being wrong compared to the original issues various angles of reference. Even checking Nova issue 36 which was the last appearance of Darkhawk. No silver markings, it matches the current figure except for the mouth part of the mask which seems to vary artist to artist. *Edit* I give up. I'm just going to appreciate the fact they broke up all the dead blue space of the figure with some silver highlights, and just enjoy it. Screw trying to figure out the era for him if he even has one in comics yet since Darkhawk hasn't appeared since Nova issue 36 (May 7th, 2010 holy crap he hasn't been in a comic in over a year!). Maybe this could be his new new modern design. At this point, I just want to enjoy the figure even though he's not from any point in the comics (other than 2 covers that are close to this design, but not the interior art) I can tell directly. I might just buy him and paint the amulet and visor light blue and solve the mild design issue about making him Talon instead, or buy two to have one for that. He definitely isn't classic, and so far from the issues, he definitely isn't modern yet. |
hey guys,
as i was surfing the web with all the news and pics of the nycc, i came across this quote and i'm also posting the web page so you know where i got it from. "Oh and two tid-bits of info regarding Marvel Universe variants. The Fantastic Four boxset with a half translucent Invisible Woman does exist and the Hasbro reps I spoke with today said they were not aware of any Darkhawk variant existing." 2011 NYCC - Hasbro Booth Day 2 - Packaged Pics, New Details & More Images - Marvel - MarvelousNews.com |

PROOF there is a variant! I was at ComicCon. I physically took this photo. Look at the color. Look at the Silver lines. Look at the Visor.

I'm sure we'll see it sooner or later in revision waves
|
Im on the side of no variant as hasbro has said a few times now that there is no variant ... and Hasbro will typically jump on any variant bandwagon ... a pic from a Con hasbro display could easily could have just housed a preproduction piece
|
Darkhawk has already been in a revision pack and the paint wasn't changed. It seems like if they were going to change it, they would have by now.
I think the SDCC one is just a concept figure, never to see production, much like the Blonde Black Widow. |
