the doc oc arms set him off balance.

Symbiote 12-06-2011 09:58 PM

Archangel too when his wings aren't helping him stand up.

Worst Figure in My Collection

.

En Sabah Nerd 08-09-2014 12:17 AM

I have to use a base for Mister Sinister and Thor (from the heroic age team pack). Both are back heavy as result of cape, but Sinister's isn't solid and can't support the figure and Thor's is far too short to offer help.

ukmu 08-09-2014 01:37 AM

MU Skrulls drive me mad!!!! To further my anger, when placed next to the movie Skrulls (who stand perfect) they are short and scrawny to boot!

That is a major advantage the movie figures have over MU, playability and they actually stand up. It is frustrating when playing with my son that the MU figures ALWAYS fall, and the movie lines do not.

I like figures like Ares that have an axe to slightly lean on. Of the new MI figures, Valkyrie is super unfriendly as her feet are the size of a pea. Wasp is impossible without a flight stand almost. Deathlok with his bent knees is tricky too.

edit: funny reading back through these posts as the old schoolers talking about wanting a Zemo (the new Gladiator as far as peg warming and price goes) and talking about the AntMan Moon Knight two pack.

Iceman 08-09-2014 08:16 AM

Never had a problem with my MU Skrulls. They do use the same body type as the Human Torch and both versions of him have came with loose ankles so they fall over often enough.

The worst figures for me tend to be the ones with capes or coats. Sinister, Ult/movie Fury, Gambit, Sentry, Hyperion. They need stands or to be awkwardly hunched forward.

kylactus 08-09-2014 08:22 AM

I'd say Hyperion, he's got the balance killing cape, plus it's to short to help prop him. he only stands on his own in a hunched over pose, or charging forward.

Iceman 08-09-2014 08:33 AM

And the worst thing about Hyperion is that the pegs on his feet are too shallow for the MU stands. I don't know what stands they are supposed to fit. I lot of MU have that problem because of the rocker ankles. The peg needs to be forward in the feet and deep enough for using in a stand.

Maverick 08-09-2014 09:06 AM

Sentry and Warlock for me

Trivial Psychic 08-10-2014 01:38 AM

For me...it's my various Red Skull figures, especially the ones from the first Captain America movie line. The skirt inhibits his leg articulation so you can't really move them, and he has no ankle articulation. To make matters worse, since he's a Cap movie line figure, he comes with no stand, and the peg holes on the bottom of his feet are too big to fit on the generic figure peg stands I have from Entertainment Earth. If his arms are down, he's fine, but if I lift them to pose them with his rifle or cosmic cube...he falls face down every time.

His other figures aren't much better (Avengers Assemble/MU Inhumans)...I typically have the same problems with them as well.

Snowflakian 08-10-2014 11:36 AM

Cat Beast.

So much articulation and capable poses, but the one thing he can't do is stand normally.

Also many of his acrobatic poses except for balancing on his hand are also a mild pain.

Fantastic figure and I love that they tried so hard to make him as dynamic as he is in the comics, but I'm honestly a bit grateful the 90s/classic Beast coming up is simplified.

ukmu 08-10-2014 11:47 AM

^^^^
Careful saying that around these folks.... they are likely to get the pitchforks and light the torches! ;)

I love it when a new figure pics are released and everyone hates it, complains, and goes on and on. Figure comes out, same.people.get it, say it isn't too bad... then later praise it. I too am guilty of that, as I am sure we all are.

More articulation often means limited functioning poses. Dynamic for.shots, but tend to fall or take forever to pose. I am a big fan of Blu-Tac on the bottoms of feet. I read a guy puts twist ties from bread on the back side of some figures with Blu-Tac for certain poses acting as a scaffold almost. I never went that far, but it is fun to read how people solve different standing issues.

That Winter Soldier Red Skull has some fat Giant tree trunk legs. Almost like a hobbit. Yeah My AA Red Skull has a numb leg. He needs help to stand.

En Sabah Nerd 08-13-2014 04:31 PM

For me Moon Knight stands like a pro, and Wasp also stands great. I don't even use bases for either, so maybe it's just your figures in particular have trouble, or mine are the rare great exceptions.

ThaddeusVenture 08-13-2014 06:08 PM

What generic stands are out there? (Pardon my ignorance) I, pretty much, keep most of my figures in the box, for the simple fact, that they ARE such a pain to stand/ pose, coupled with the fact that the room that houses my collection, also houses the closet that my wife's scrub tops are in. So she's in and out of there every day, and I'm constantly standing, what loose figures I have, back up.

bmorr 08-13-2014 06:22 PM

for 4" figures i use the stands sold by smalljoes.

ThaddeusVenture 08-13-2014 09:12 PM

Thanks. I'll look into those. What about for 6" figures?

you can ask here ML appreciation thread

Most of them stand well black cat and doctor octopus might be the hardest though

bmorr 08-14-2014 04:35 AM

id like to add MU Taskmaster to the hard to stand list. weak ankles and large upper body make for a bad combination

Seems to be a common problem but I've never had an issue with the newer females falling over. Dagger, Aurora, Valkyrie, etc I've gotten to stand up fine. I still need to fix the range of motion in the legs though but I don't have a dremel.

He's one of those you have to use his cape to support him.
