everything else is crafted in story meetings w producers and show runners calling the shots. but... that doesn't take away from the entertainment factor for many people who have no clue how productions are constructed. in the end, its only entertainment. |
Oh, I'm quite aware of the script writers/story editors on "reality" shows. Which is all the more reason they should get their facts straight before they film the segments. Some people might look at this show as a reference source.
Maybe when the series actually gets going, it will get better and be more entertaining for me. Right now, it's a joke (IMHO, of course). |

The pilot was pretty terrible, and very fake. I predict that the ratings will still be decent though, and toy aisles will be filled with even more fat guys in flip flops snatching up action figures before actual kids can. Sort of puts toy collecting in a new light for me.

I'm watching this right now, the ep with the bubble making thundercats toy and the prototype fett. This guy reminds of every person behind the counter of every scalper shop. Im at the part where hes selling his stuff at NYCC, and i was laughing everytime he gave the con go-ers the outrageous price.

Somebody linked the whole first Episode on youtube. I'm not fond of the host. And I don't mean to offend anyone, but the guy who purchased boba fett is the typical doucher with tattoos and tap out gear

I saw the one where he found a bumblejumper. For some one who claims they know everything about toys and not know that one.....??? The lucky draw was cool, but 1050?

I thought I'd like this show, but now I just want to punch that guy in his face...

Not gonna lie, I like the show. I just take it for entertainment.

I just think of it like wrestling, you know its not real but at the same time entertaining. |

For me, the entertainment is really in seeing other people's collection and how they have it displayed. I personally don't care about the host or what he finds or what he sells it for.
|
Their stuff is usually just laying around, or piled up in boxes where no one can see it. Kind of sad really..... why go through all that effort to collect something just to bury it in obscurity like that?

It's staged for the show. It's called Toy Hunter for a reason, to make us believe the host is digging through their stuff to find a gem. In some cases it may be real, but the last guy with the transformers, no way.

As for the show, I just watch it to see other people's collections. The host kind of annoys me. |
The show is ridiculous, and you're probably right about the obscure toys..... half the people handing over this stuff are former employees for companies that made them. How were they contacted to be "picked", and more importantly, how are they so naive?

Soundwave for 20 bucks? That's a steal.

I don't mind the premise of the show, I just HATE the host. When he does that gayish, little whimsical laugh of his, I just want to punch him in his face and take his toy money. He almost would make a great "Arcade" for any future X-Men movies.

Wow, this is old. After the talk in the other thread I decided to download the latest episode. Oh boy. He wants to be a consultant on a developing toy line for some NFL player. He apparent things toys are about articulation, sizing, and costuming. Not she what he means other than articulation and keeping figures the same scale within a line. Anyway, he naturally goes out and buys 40 year toys to demonstrated these things, even articulation. And then says that modern collectors want cheesy cloth costumes on their figures like stuff from the 60's, even though the guy is like "are you sure people want that these days". The logic that this guy buys 30 year old toys and therefore is qualified to help design new ones is pretty amusing.

Yeah, The toy hunter loves megos, not everyone else. If that NFL player goes with his suggestions I feel it will be a total loss. And I don't know about you but I can't stand the giggly jumping nerd from the beginning intro, I wish they would cut that out. It is a total set up but I like seeing old toys I used to have like the Sectaurs and some of the rare MOTU as well as older things he "finds". And the token Jersey guy is funny sometimes. It is crazy how much money his star clients pay for some of the stuff he brings them. |

I never watched this show, I saw Scott N was going to be on it and I knew if I watched I'd need to replace my TV after I threw my remote through it.
