Sadly yes Spectacular Spidey was the best and got axed for the new show because Disney didn't make it or some bullshit. I still haven't gotten around to watching all of the episodes yet (still sitting in my DVR) but one thing I have enjoyed from what I've seen is Coulson. He trips me out every time I see him. "We can still save the budget!"

Jonah Jameson (Who obviously influenced Sam Raimi's casting of J.K. Simmons) and the much more streamlined origin of Venom.

Is it really that good? I've never seen an episode of Spectacular Spider-Man but I think cause a few minutes one time and I just didn't like the character models for the villains. It think it was Green Goblin I saw and it just reminded me too much of the visual style from "The Batman" which I didn't like (though I enjoyed the show). If it's worth watching I might track it down.

I loved the 90's Spider-Man and X-Men series, even if the animation wasn't always the best. I grew up with them and they shaped my understanding of those character as a kid. I do think that the stories in those shows still hold up well after all this time, most of them anyway. I'd be down for anything that tops that.

On the topic of Ultimate Spider-Man I've only watched half of the first episode as I haven't had the time but I don't know how I feel about the whole team thing. Spider-Man has always been inclined to team up with people but never for long, until recent years I guess. Would have liked it if they had chosen Iceman and Human Torch.

They could have made it like Batman the brave and the bold where spidey would team up with a different hero each episode

Hey the could even do a comic based on this and call it Marvel Team Up ;)

But in all seriousness I would be down for this type of show

bmorr 04-18-2012 07:28 PM

i'd seriously be all over that. of course id also watch a show simply revolving around wolverine and the thing playing poker.

They did that with Deadpool, it was short and it was good.

Last issue he was a herald of Galactus. Actually why not just make that a kids show.

I think a Deadpool cartoon like that would have potential but everyone would want it to be rated r so that would be the only downfall, from marketing stand point

Anyways the comic idea I mentioned happened already several times in fact the original went for 150 issues which was at a time when comics came out regularly once a month and so it lasted over 10 years. I was being stupid

MegaPrime33 04-19-2012 09:02 AM

I do find it interesting that they introduced Venom in this past episode but not Eddie. And what's Harry going to do with it now? As kiddish as this show is, it has it's moments.

Even if he wasn't R-rated, he's just not appropriate for kids IMO. Just because he's silly doesn't absolve his many terrible qualities that don't make for someone you would aspire to look up to. Teens and adults appreciate him because they can discern...hopefully.

yeah, im not at all keen about the ultimate universe, but in the toon venom acted as its own sentient entity without being attached to a host, it talked.

Maybe he becomes Venom cause of his jealousy of PP getting new friends, although I'm in the middle of it right now, haven't finished it yet.

Actually, I think in the right context, they could divorce Deadpool from the more undesirable elements, and still keep the spirit of the character.

If they used "The Deadpool Show" to spoof old Saturday Morning superhero cartoons.Make it sort of a mix of this Ultimate Spidey (With the cut aways and fourth wall breakage), Freakazoid, and throw in a bit of Batman: Brave and the Bold (With the constant team-ups and sillyness we saw with things like the Musicmeister ep). Have him rely more on swords and less on "stunguns."
I think they could present the spirit of the character, in a way that's accessible to most people. He wouldn't be the first inappropriate, sociopathic and psychotic cold blooded murderer that's been turned into a kid-friendly character. *cough*Wolverine*cough*

FancyPants 04-19-2012 04:44 PM

pretty much, just stop killing people, no vulgar language and you can basically do anything. Little kids love wolverine from the things they see not the comics. They dont realize the claws just make it easier to turn a person into pieces.

Everyone loves a smart ass, even MvC3 he's mildly entertaining the first time you hear his catch phrases.

Hah, took me a few reads to see what you meant but yeah I'd watch that as long as they were shorts and not full episodes.

The thing that is different with Wolverine, is that he's been an established hero forms decades now. That whole he's a murderer but trying not to be but still murdering and kids love him is his staple.

Deadpool is not a hero. He's a Merc. Take away the Merc part and...well you get something kind of like this US show we've been discussing. He's definitely got his hilarious moments and him being completely outrageous makes more sense for his character than Spidey because Deadpool is insane.

I like CJ's idea because it kind of reminds me of the stuff that Justsomerandomguy does with him for his I'm a marvel and I'm a DC skits on YouTube.

Deadpool and the Back-Up Avengers:
A comedy series, each standard 22 minute program consists of two 11 minute shorts, per episode. One short revolving around deadpool, the other one revolving around the Great Lakes Avengers (Dispite Tony Stark's constant cease-and-decist lawsuits.)

Anything to see Deadpool vs Squirrel Girl in animation! I support this 100%

jjk1120 04-20-2012 06:23 AM

I LOVED Deadpool in Hulk Vs. I don't know if he could support his own show, but I was reallly looking forward to him being in Wolverine and the X Men. Too bad that went down the shitter, too...

Hey now Deadpool's issues have been developing his character throughout, he went from psychotic mercenary doing incredibly messed up things, to trying to redeem himself, and becoming less menacing overtime, but still crazy.

That's what I like about him, his character and character development stay consistant.

bmorr 04-21-2012 05:53 AM

i remember seeing a blog or something once where bruce timm put up designs of marvel characters done in their animation style. It was something you had to grow into, but the avengers cartoon is something similar.

MegaPrime33 04-23-2012 04:04 AM

It was good to see Iron Man in the series. I hope they do more team ups with other Marvel characters as well. Of course they did it because Iron Man is the really the most popular character right now, but I'm sure that will change if the new spidey movie is any good.

bmorr 04-23-2012 07:52 AM

yeah im not liking this show much anymore. the teen titans crap is getting real annoying/distracting. And spidey has the worst personality on the show.

Timm did the art on Avengers 1&1/2 a story set between issue 1 & 2 featuring the original team with Antman now Giant Man and the Hulk still involved and they fought Doom. It came out in the early 2000s

That's funny since he's the main character! The Venom episode was tolerable, haven't seen the newest one yet...just hearing you say this makes me think twice.
