Just finished the final issue of Remender's Uncanny X-Force run and WOW! Talk about a series with character development, loose ends tied up and even set-ups for future stories within the greater Marvel Universe without loosing the core emotion of what has become a family unit with this team, and you just don't get that much better than what Remender has managed to accomplish with this series.

Deadpool. Seriously,who'd have thunk it and not immediately brushed off the notion as just another lame Deadpool joke. THIS is the Deadpool I want to read about. If Remender ever returns to write Deadpool in the future just take my money now Marvel and consider it my preorder.

Wolverine has been the most emotionally and mentally decimated by this series than anyone else, including Psylocke, and if you anyone still wants to hate in Wolverine because they think, like Deadpool, he's overuse or find him to be overrated or over powered and one dimensional...clearly missed this series or just enjoy being haters cause haters gonna hate. Remender has written Wolverine better than anyone in recent years including the famed Whedon Run in Astonishing. That's right, that makes this series my new favorite X-series all time and among my favorite comic series in general of all time.

But if Remender deserves credit for anything its for his remarkable work writing Betsy Braddock. She's become one of my favorite female characters in comics through this series. How had she not been a top tier major player in comics is what I wonder after this series? I guess it just depends on the passion a particular writer brings to a specific character.

And while I'm certain people will have mixed feelings about clearing up the Fantomex situation with respect to the revelation of a female looking version of him in the new Uncanny X-Force series, I can only say, without spoilers, that I was completely satisfied with how it turned out.

5 stars for the final issue, and 5 stars for #1-35 of a truly satisfying run from my now favorite Comic Book Writer Rick Remender. I should also give credit to Opena, his artwork conveyed the emotion that otherwise could have made this comic just another X-Title (*cough*Greg Land*cough*)

While I do appreciate the messages on killing in these books I think realistically there would still be a role for a kill squad and they could actually do a lot of good. For the purpose to the books villains need to keep coming back but one thing that made X-Force feel more weighty is that they didn't hold back and that saves lives in the long run. I don't think Betsy or any of them should have walked away with the feeling that they never should have started.

What this book was about to me was less that killing is bad although seemingly necessary depending on the situation, but more about the toll that killing actually takes on the human psyche. If you know or have ever met someone in the military or law enforcement who has ever taken a life they'll tell you that it's one of the worst feelings ever and that it will always weigh heavily on their conscience. This book took that notion and made these characters deal with the extreme cases of it. How would someone feel after killing a kid, their brother, their lover or their own son simply out of their potential for death and destruction rather than the crime they actually committed?

Psylocke is basically continuing on with X-Force even though you'd think she would want nothing more to do with the concept. Yes, she doesn't want to kill anymore but wouldn't she make to most since to walk away and disappear for awhile instead of starting up a new team?
