And the whole thing about them going into a different future again I thought was getting played out but totally made sense. Here's more to come. Building Uncanny X-Force Pt. 2 | X-Men | News | Marvel.com Also picked up Cable's version and his is pretty darn good so far too. |

I'd love to hear what you think is working so far, it be nice to hear some positives for a change of pace. So far I've avoided it and the New Thunderbolts book because everyone in my LCS who's read them told me not to waste my time and they know my taste in comics. But I have been curious about them...just not $3.99 an issue curious. Sadly the only other Marvel NOW book that sucks is the one I was looking forward to the most, Iron Man. :( Gregg Land needs to stop working in the comic industry and get work doing caricatures or something since he can only draw what he sees. |

In total agreement with you there. He did an amazing job developing these characters, especially Deadpool and Fantomex. I would love to see a series, even a short one, with Deadpool and the main Mantomex teaming up. While I do appreciate the messages on killing in these books I think realistically there would still be a role for a kill squad and they could actually do a lot of good. For the purpose to the books villains need to keep coming back but one thing that made X-Force feel more weighty is that they didn't hold back and that saves lives in the long run. I don't think Betsy or any of them should have walked away with the feeling that they never should have started. |

What this book was about to me was less that killing is bad although seemingly necessary depending on the situation, but more about the toll that killing actually takes on the human psyche. If you know or have ever met someone in the military or law enforcement who has ever taken a life they'll tell you that it's one of the worst feelings ever and that it will always weigh heavily on their conscience. This book took that notion and made these characters deal with the extreme cases of it. How would someone feel after killing a kid, their brother, their lover or their own son simply out of their potential for death and destruction rather than the crime they actually committed? With the above being taken into consideration, how could Betsy not feel like if she never joined X-Force that Warren never would have ascended as apocalypse and her brother would still be alive, or at the very least she wouldn't have to live with knowing that she killed him? Wolverine having to deal with killing his own son has got to be the biggest failure of his life and one of the biggest character developments for him since remembering his past during house of m. I strongly believe their regrets about X-Force were written accurately and were justifiable given the above reasons. Factor in that Extinction of Mutants is no longer an issue post AvX and they really didn't need to continue this team given their reasons for starting in the first place. Just my thoughts. Although it seems Daniel Way agrees with you and that Rulk's new Thunderbolts team will be Marvel's new hit squad. Which also means that Deadpool will be written stupid again. |

I agree with pretty much everything you said, especially this paragraph. They paid a heavy price for what they did but they also undoubtedly saved lives beyond counting and I think they all realize that as these villain HAD killed before (except the kid). Killing kidpocalypse was probably their only mistake and that's still up for debate but no one likes that they did it. Fantomex raising Evan shows that even he didn't like it. I don't think the book was trying to tell us that the killing wasn't needed but some of the characters maybe felt they caused a bit of it in the first place. Psylocke saying they never should have started could just be out of place of pain but realistically she knows better. Psylocke is basically continuing on with X-Force even though you'd think she would want nothing more to do with the concept. Yes, she doesn't want to kill anymore but wouldn't she make to most since to walk away and disappear for awhile instead of starting up a new team? Uncanny X-Force has been great and it's one of my all-time favorites so I am not trying to complain about it. I just feel that the whole point of the team was to allow Scott to walk away from the shady decisions and return to being the Captain America of mutants but with the AvX they threw all that away. If Marvel wanted to make Cyclops go all the way to the "doing what's necessary" near villain that they've made then wouldn't it have made more sense for Wolverine to be the odd man out? Have Cyclops restart the team in secret and such. I don't think this was in any way a problem with UXF but with the rest of what Marvel was doing. X-Men comics have been such a series of major shake-ups in recent years I almost feel like they should have just stopped with Second Coming and had X-Force as the only title. I've only read Thunderbolts #1 so far but there wasn't much to chew on, just Ross assembling the team with a mission to copy the Punisher (sort of). The roster interests me but I will wait to see how they treat Deadpool before I decide where I think it's going. I appreciate silly Deadpool as much as the next guy but he's never been as interesting as when he was wearing the grey of X-Force, in my opinion. |

Here's the full interview if it interests you at all. http://marvel.com/news/story/19870/b...y_x-force_pt_2 |
Hadn't seen that article. Was a good read. I've enjoyed some of Humphries writing and hated some of it so we'll see. I think you are right that the X-Force we know and love is done and this is mostly just marketing the name. As a fan of the X-Men I think that anything with these characters has potential to be good if treated properly.

Agree with all your main points Greenskar and Iceman. The Remedy Uncanny X-Force will be the greatest X-Force team ever. Many morale thoughts on the necessary killing that needed to be done. With that said I do believe these new X-Force teams won't be going that route at all. Will be interesting to the paths they choose. As for Cables team its still to early to tell but so far it's a bit decent. Especially with there Mutant powers going whack after the avx fiasco. I'll keep you updated. As for thunderbolts I was interested in picking that up just because it had Elektra and deadpool in it. But if it's not then I saved myself 4 bucks.

The members of X-Force are having trouble with their powers too? That's interesting. I haven't read issue 2 of Thunderbolts yet but I plan on getting it as the first issue didn't have much going on at all.

I agree, with the new UXF cast it could be good if written properly, Humphries really is hit or miss it seems. |
I'm sure that even Magik will have some issue with her power getting too strong something. Not a fan of the powers out of control angle in general but I think it could be a good character device for Cyclops right now.

I found the last panel of the new X-Force book disturbing.
*Spoilers* (sort of) http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/...rce001-018.jpg |
Loving the new Uncanny X-Force, and this article says it all. Can't wait for the next few issues. Will be interesting to see Bishops role as well and how him, Cable and Hope will tie up. You know both X-Force teams will cross paths.

I've decided to wait til the first arc is finished before deciding to drop money in it get. Glad to hear it started off on a good note from you guys though. Although that pic Iceman posted just reminded me of the panel in Deadpool Corps (or was it Merc with a mouth? Oh well) where Deadpool and Lady Deadpool made out.

Whoa I was liking both X-Force books, and now they're making just 1, my wallet will be happy as this will be 1 less book to get, but I did like both teams though with their great cast of X-Folks in them. Hopefully they'll be in this one in the near future, especially since both X-Force books we're short lived.
First Look: X-FORCE #1 - Comic Vine Although I'm glad Psylocke and Cable are the main casts. |
