Todd's a dick for making you choose. This should have been an all-in-one figure.

True, agreed.

We've heard you loud and clear. Due to popular demand, in the coming weeks we will be releasing a Batmobile and Batman combo pack based on the 89' Batman movie design. Stay tuned.

If the price wasn't ridiculous, I'd be tempted to pick up that Superman just because it's hilarious.

User897 06-22-2023 06:25 PM

I keep coming back here hoping something will be worth getting. Nope. The last figure I bought was Batman Beyond. Todd just keeps coming up short. Oh well, I'll keep browsing.

Target has updated their Summer Geek-Out page with McFarlane figures that will go up for preorder later today. Among them are the first pics of the Superman vs Doomsday 2 pack.

I will say that ninja spawn is pretty awesome.

BB Shockwave 06-23-2023 04:13 AM

To quote Mike Stoklasa, "What is wrong with your FAAAACEEEE???" Seriously, just what is this head for Superman? He looks weird.

Jokerized Joker. I don't think that particular noun/adjective combo needed to exist, but here we are.

At least it's a store exclusive and not taking up spots in the mainline?

Tony_Bacala 06-23-2023 07:44 AM

Dig Doomsday, and size. Never liked that Hush head, and still don't.

Still waiting for a normal Superman, head to toe nothing wrong/off, with full articulation.

ThorOdinson123 06-23-2023 08:15 AM

These Jokerized figures are such a waste of plastic. Nobody is buying those

deecee4 06-23-2023 08:22 AM

Yeah, I agree. He's literally the last character that should be getting the jokerized treatment.

Black Arbor 06-23-2023 08:32 AM

It'd be funny if the Jokerized Joker had normal skin-tone and natural colored hair haha

Raine24 06-23-2023 08:45 AM

I know I've said this before, but all these "Jokerized" versions being Gold Label means that:
  • spots aren't being taken from the mainline (these are extras, we're not "missing out" on figures because these exist)
  • situations like AzBats being a retailer exclusive will be rarer (as retailers are getting their exclusive fills via repaints)
  • unique tooling being more readily reused means more money for the mainline tooling budget

Retailer exclusives are a huge part of the economics of the toy industry and are almost unavoidable. Being able to provide them with skippable repaints instead of essential characters is a win/win, because both business partners get all the advantages they desired while we're not scrambling to get hold of a desirable figure. I almost literally hate the Joker but can't muster more than a shrug for all these repaints, which is exactly what we want a store exclusive to be, right? A shruggable, ho-hum "who cares" that doesn't have us F5ing a product page in case we miss the one opportunity to get it in our collection. Being yawn-worthy to 90% of the target audience is the ideal, IMO.

Yes, I'm still salty over not having AzBats or any Cobra Vipers, could you tell?

Zigerlion 06-23-2023 08:48 AM

They kept the arms of the old Doomsday fig, that's it. The set looks pretty good. Just wish they gave Superman some fists and an alt head.

The gold label & store exclusives end up getting carried by various etailers eventually though right? I noticed that with the White Knight variants. Though, I ended up getting those on ebay for less than retail anyway since like you mentioned no one gave a shit about them.
And I'm right there with you on the Cobra Vipers. Being unable to get that cobra island version at anything close to a decent price started my disinterest in the Classified line.

The one-two punch of Baroness (BARONESS!!!) and my favorite troop as impossible-to-get exclusives in the same wave had me quit the line for a full year. I was pumped when the 3-pack was announced, but we all saw how that ended up. Two Vipers in the wrong colors, an officer that goes straight to the Goodwill bin, and a couple of muzzle flashes, all for like $25 more than they'd have cost individually at retail. Who could resist a deal like that?

If they just did 2-packs of vivid Vipers with effects at $55, like the Valkyries, I'd pick up 5 of them without question, like the Valkyries.

In my experience, those retailers end up being collectibles shops like EntertainMART/Vintage Stock or local businesses of a similar nature, and that's usually because the owners bought those items from Target/Wal-Mart or someone resold them to the business.

At least the headsculpt is better than recent reveals.

StudioOneTwelve 06-26-2023 10:35 AM

I really despise the Superman body they keep reusing the proportions are ridiculous. The Hush Superman figures look nothing like the comic and now the difference is even more glaring since first appearance Superman never had proportions like this.

User897 06-26-2023 11:59 AM

The hunt for a decent Superman figure continues. McFarlane ain't it.

I think Hush Superman looks pretty good. It looks like they slimmed down his chest a little bit compared to the Rebirth one. Still hate this Infected Superman mold, tho. Other than Hush and Eradicator, it just doesn’t work with most heads and they should just stop trying to reuse it.

There is a lot of demand for McFarlane to start using Speeding Bullets body. That’s the base body he should start using for Superman and Batman right now.
