Doesn't look to impressive. Rather attempt to make my own. Still cool of them to do this though..

News from Power-Con...they are making CASTLE GRAYSKULL!!!! Holy smokes. So. Rad.

DHeezy81 09-22-2012 09:32 PM

They're taking pre-orders this fall. If they reach min sales, then they will make it. Nothing is being made until then. That's why they don't have a prototype, just the art.

Dr Kain 09-22-2012 10:07 PM

And it looks like Rattlor is using black plastic.

DHeezy81 09-23-2012 08:53 AM

Damn, I want an unpainted one, that looks dope! Everything they have made or in the process of being made will be black plastic until they decide to change before tooling starts.

Tiberius 09-23-2012 03:00 PM

Wait, does this mean all future figures will be black plastic with paint?

If that's the case, I'm kinda pissed because aren't they RAISING the prices?

Dark Hayabusa 09-23-2012 03:27 PM

They're doing both. If that really is a unpainted rattlor then at least the joints seem to be the same colour as his scales are supposed to be, so obvious paint chipping is avoided there at least.
Looking at Octavia's body, I'm thinking maybe we'll see Adora released again, but in a Horde captain varient?

Tiberius 09-23-2012 05:00 PM

Well if there is paint chipping I would be so pissed. I think I'd actually seal the figures if that was the case.

The pics of Rattlor look like "prototype" first time mold parts. They use what ever color plastic they have ready to go. I don't think these pics say that Mattel is making everything in black for changes. Casting in black does help for viewing detail but the tooling has already been done by this point. I see these all the time on He-Man.org & Ebay in all sorts of crazy color combo's.

Tiberius 09-23-2012 05:53 PM

So do I, but Pixel Dan was saying they ARE doing the black base + paint though. Not sure if starting now, or for the 2013 sub.

Dr Kain 09-23-2012 07:20 PM

Mekaneck, Dragon Blaster Skeletor, Rattlor, Cy-Chop, the Snake-Men, Sir Lames-a-Lot, Spikor, and Vykron all use the black plastic and people are having their figures have scratched off paint and stuff. I have several of mine do the same.

If you go to the .org forums, there is a topic where people are posting their pictures.

Tiberius 09-23-2012 07:34 PM

Fuck me sideways... May ask some customizers around and see if it is at all possible to seal them for extra protection.

ludovicotek 09-24-2012 06:16 AM

This is what kills me; Mattel keeps making stupid decisions like this. They say the black plastic is a "design choice" but we all know that's complete bullshit. They want to save a few bucks by only using black plastic in their molds and just paint afterwards. But this obviously leads to paint chipping. WTF Mattel!!!! That's a stupid ass move on their part.

I actually think this is their solution for being so far behind on production. THey just mass produced black parts so they don't have to mold them when they start producing the figure.

No kidding? That's awesome. Did they give any clue on what they're going to be charging for that?

DHeezy81 09-24-2012 08:19 AM

Said approx $200

miketime 09-24-2012 10:50 AM

Holly S, I had no idea there was any truth to the black plastic rumor. I'm not caught up on my .org reading. I have not noticed any problems with any of my figures. One more thing to worry about.

DHeezy81 09-24-2012 11:31 AM

Feels good to be one small step closer to completion!

Based on the ammount of complaints I'm seeing on the .org I can see Mattel going back on this. I'm surprised I had not noticed this before. I was told it started with spike-or. The only fig I have that it is noticable on is one of the snake men. With there QC record IDK how they could allow this to happen. The all mighty dollar trumps what any collector/ brand murchadiser thinks and knows what is right.

cmax75 09-24-2012 12:30 PM

I noticed it on my Spikor too, but just shrugged it off since I figure it could just be dried-up blood or something. But now my package from Matty just arrived and getting a little nervous about my snake-men 2-pack. Here's hoping...

Robogeek28 09-24-2012 02:57 PM

So Snake Face is in the future I see.

Guess I may hafta get him to go on the snake shelf then.
