It's all true! Pics of the new wave are up on some other sites.

so.... not to be the perpetual Debbie downer, but what's with the articulation on Bish, and Beast?

Prem1x 07-25-2014 10:44 AM

Cost-cutting measures. They want you collectors to buy ML instead.

Geez, that sculpt on Beast is so bleh. Who the F sculpted that thinking upper abs like that are correct? It's just mushy, uninspired and bad. I guess they've stopped hiring Gentle Giant to do sculpts.

Bishop has some skinny arms. Is it just me?

Yeah, I notice the articulation wasn't there for the Beast and Bishop.

IcantBseriouS 07-25-2014 10:57 AM

I'd rather my Bishop be bald or have dreads. Hate the mullet. Honestly I like the sculpt of Beasts head. Maybe a head swap on the cat beast body? Kinda scored today, working an hour away from home. Got done early and hit a tru on way home. Dug through about 60 Colossus & Novas, I found Cloak & Dagger along with Rhino.

Captain Taiga 07-25-2014 10:57 AM

All of their articulation is a little saddening. I appreciate new figs n all but even the Spidey could a been a reuse of the Havoc mold or the Future Foundation one like they usually do haha. I thought the Black Cat was reusing the old Black Widow mold but it's less than that :( I'll still end up buying it tho

NoodleChow 07-25-2014 10:59 AM

Why are the proportions so blegh and the sculpts so soft looking? If you have to sculpt new bodies why not make Beasts arms more beastly? How about a decent size and musculature on Bishop? And Black Cat... oh Black Cat.....

I get cheaping out on articulation but did they give this guy a day to digitally sculpt them all?

Also, lack of at least a waist swivel is really maddening.

Exodus 07-25-2014 11:11 AM

Cool I'll get all 5 hopefully their a complete case haha. Once I get the BC I'll probably flip the ML version of her.

Yeah since they have def better box art for them. I'm more of a 3.75 collector, and once that version is made I usually get rid of the ML size if I have it. But these latest ML's have been really great.

kylactus 07-25-2014 11:16 AM

Bish would have been fine on a Warpath buck! and as for beast, making one of the Marvel Universe's most acrobatic characters have severely limited articulation is a slap in the face. but what do you expect these are the first figures of the non-Vonner era.

En Sabah Nerd 07-25-2014 11:19 AM

Maybe these are just prototypes, so that's why they look soft and "meh". I like that Beast though, Sandman looks alright, but something feels off about Bishop. At least we're getting new figures, and I know two of these were fan demanded.

kylactus 07-25-2014 11:22 AM

I feel almost like they had nothing, so they had someone whip up a couple quick customs in the back room to shut us up.

Captain Nash 07-25-2014 11:23 AM

No release date cards---worrisome but hey I love what I'm looking at. This will be a case I preorder for sure. Finally the early 90's X-Men line up will be complete!!

I'm with you there...especially since they've been quick to show us from previous years all the new stuff, now it's slowly trickling out.

Yes I hope this is a complete case, unless they end up throwing 1-2 of these new ones with some of the older ones or repacking of some old MU's like they did with Omega...

ukmu 07-25-2014 11:30 AM

They are not prototypes... this is, as Ky just pointed out.... the first wave post Vonner's influence. I am so glad i got the SHS Beast two weeks ago!

ChuckSass 07-25-2014 11:33 AM

im glad they changed those bucks on the females

Primacron 07-25-2014 11:51 AM

Bishop yay!!!

Really hope that the final product is better tho, as kylactus said, the Warpath buck would have been perfect.

K Dubious 07-25-2014 12:05 PM

Im in too deep to turn back now, but I don't really know what to think... does this mean going forward we should no longer expect bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, wrist or chest articulation?

I will probably just scoop these up for their heads and continue to customize as I see fit, but these are not the images I expected at all. I get that we are in the Post-Vonner era, but that doesn't mean that they no longer have the molds to use the same arms we are all used to...

It also makes me realize how much Northstar, Emma, Skurge, and others previewed but yet released will stick out like sore thumbs versus the other figures if they continue to make similarly articulated figures like what we are seeing at SDCC.

Those abs look very similar to the toy Biz beast form the 90's I'd be willing to bet they took "insipation" from that figure to produce this SMOOTH SKINNED BEAST! Because you remember when beast shaved all his hair off and was smooth like a babies bottom, right???

That number seems ludicrously low for a mass-retail figure made by Hasbro that was sold at Walmarts all across the country. That's even taking into consideration being short-packed during its initial case assortment and not appearing in any revision cases afterward.

They look like hand-painted prototypes to me. But that's pretty much a standard practice for Hasbro regarding as-yet-unreleased product on display at conventions. They may not be that far off from the version that will eventually appear at retail, but still technically prototypes.

I am just the messenger mate! Vonner said it, not me. On other site they tried to dispel the number but couldnt. I have no opinion either way, just quoting the man who MIGHT know. Seems low, but some of the GREATEST things ever were oddly underproduced. The famous James Bond DB5 Astin Martin comes to mind. I agree it seems.far.fetched, but he did say that number as of it were a.fact. That being the case, I think one needs to contemplate it as a possibility. True or not we will never know.

They may be hand painted, but the base figure is what we are getting. That is what i meant as NOT A PROTOTYPE. I agree that they always have some in house painting before they are proper done in China.

The SMOOTH SKIN BEAST.... it is like he man-scaped his hair into the smooth mess we got. TWINK BEAST should be his name!

IcantBseriouS 07-25-2014 12:52 PM

I really really hate buying a figure knowing I'm going to have to fix the damn thing.

These new figures are just unacceptable, period, how can they go so far back with articulation and sculpt? Because I really doubt the the price will go down.

ultraman zoffy 07-25-2014 01:06 PM

Wow... after a strong start, Hasbro just took a straight dookie on the SDCC floor. Guess I'm customizing 3.75's all next year after wave 3.
