what's up with the legs on sandman? it looks like someone put Absorbing man's legs on Maryjane's hips. like I said, quick back room customs. maybe Hasbro's plan is to merge the MI series and the 5 POA crapfest into one 8 POA half-crap hybrid. GENIUS!

wow there also now wrist swivel as far as I can see on the spiderman and the beast..... so awful
|
I kinda hope that articulation is due to those being prototypes. but I guess I'm alright so long as they look alright...I mean this is like the Avengers figures in quality, and they werent so bad....
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/...21_634x419.jpg I'm still buying them though. I dont mind lesser Articulation for a better looking product....but Black Cat could be better...and where's Emma? After a third look, I can see Spider-man benefits from this. His Pattern is so complex, limiting the articulation a little helps him look better. Same with Bishop. Black Cat is one I'd think would be harder to retool, because of her furr..and maybe the mold they are showing is just a super prototype because of this. I cant imagine they'd take the time to make a new mold without making it look presentable atleast, know what i mean? I mean, who else could they make use this black cat mold on? but then again, they could have easily made boot and wrist fur ala zemo and make a custom upper torso. simple as that...meh. I'll still get it but I want a better Black Cat. AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE COLOR! Why Is She Grey Blue? Why cant she be Pure Black? |
you know who's feeling pretty good about himself today?... good old Showdown Beast. still the best of a bad situation.

Cant we all just wait until the Hasbro panel before we take a dump on the new figs? Give it some time my friends.
On a side note - a cool story. So I recently got back into collecting MU and the like after havign to sell off my collecting about 2 years ago. I have been doing my best to piece together my old collection along with the waves that I missed while I was not collecting. One of the key pieces to me was the Wonderman/Quicksilver two-pack. I was having a hell of a time trying to find it for a decent price. Didn't want to pay $60-70 dollars for it so I was trying to be patient and open up all forms of the search. A few months back I got a huge lead from a site that I could snag the two-pack for about $35. I instantly put an order in only to be dejected when they came back and said they were out of stock and will refund the money. So yesterday, I got a package. I was trying to think what it could be. I opened it up and Voila! Quickislver and Wonderman staring right back at me! Sure it took about 4 months and I though I was not going to recieve it being out of order and all. But that is a quality score for that price. Made my day! |

My wife and my wallet say thank you Hasbro....
Maybe they should stick to NERF guns, Mr. Potato Head and Monopoly games. This is to toys what Water World was to cinema!!! |

Looking at more SDCC pics, you have to wonder why setting up these new figures for display right next to the awesome MI Wave 3 figures didn't embarrass Hasbro enough to leave them out of the show.

I'm hoping they up the articulation on these before they hit retail. At least they have rocker ankles it looks like. I'm sure glad I got a showdown beast a while ago, I thought at first glance the new beast was on that herc buck. So it looks like that wal mart list was accurate, I'm amazed at how quickly the ark gets info vs other sites, good job fellow arkers!

I admit these don't look as great as previous releases detailed wise but I am glad we're getting them and I do want them to get released. Or at least Bishop.
The more I look at Black Cat the less impressed I am. Especially compared to the ML version. |
I would urge people to really look at the articulation and see that its not all that different. Most figures seem to use the ball-jointed elbows (GI Joe, Boss Fight) and the articulation is awesome. And no bicep swivel means no broken pegs! Mid thigh swivel looks to be gone but I rarely see that as a need. The torso swivel is there on Sandman and Beast may use the Abomination torso. Look up, kids :)

Black Cat seems to be sporting the AA Black Widow and she poses great. Actually all of these seem to have the Avengers Assemble influence to them.
I'm chill, I get why a lot are pissed but the AA figures went fine with mine and posed fine. Plus if it means the end of twig arm females, I see it as a plus. |
Black Cat disappoints for me, no doubt, but I can't stand that character so I don't care. I really enjoy being part of this community (however spread out it is) but every year it's "Oh, gloom!". Last year we were shown prototypes of Hyperion and Grim Reaper, everyone said the line was dead. Look what we've got this year! And the year's not over yet! I'm telling you, this line is still going strong and people will not be disappointed unless they want to be.
|
Plus weren't x-Men next year's line? The Beast and Bishop won't be up until January then. And honestly, I WANT more female figures to use the AA Widow buck if they can, I don't fear her arms breaking or legs falling off.
Black Cat using that body, which I'm pretty sure she is or least that style, is a win. Not sure I think they worked out her fur and paint well ut I like that Buck over the MU female one. |
is is Hasbros attempt at doing a Toybiz revisited line??
I could swear that I have that Beast under the ToyBiz name |

Plus we need a maria Hill figure and a generic female shield operative. An updated generic male operative too. Toss in Sharon Carter on that buck while you're at it. That's 5 figures from the Avengers BW mold right there. I don't get the complaints on the articulation for Sandman, Beast, and Bishop. They all look like they have bicep swivel. They're only missing thigh cut swivel really. Leg calves swivel was redundant anyway when they have ankle swivel. It's not like they tooled entirely new molds with stepped back articulation. These are the normal handful of new parts on pre-existing bucks that we're used to seeing. For these three I'm indifferent on that since we're probably not far off from a beast repack with head swap(plus I like cat beast). Though it will be nice to have a Dark Beast, I hope they tweak the mold a bit to give him a lab coat or different head. Might pick Bishop up when he's released. Not sure. This version doesn't really go well with my Astonishing/Now team setups. Though if they do a bald variant, I might have to get him and Cable. Kind of hoping they do a box set at some point. Bald Bishop, Cable, and grown up Hope. |
