Best Captain Marvels (in my opinion):
1. Mar-Vell, he set the standard and saved the universe more than once.
2. Carol Danvers, following in Mar-Vell's footsteps with humility.
3. Genis-Vell, in his efforts to save the universe he went nuclear (on a cosmic scale) and had to be put down by Helmut Zemo (empowered by the moonstones), but A for effort.
4. Anyone else who used the name.
Honorable mention: Shazam from DC.

ukmu 07-26-2014 03:54 PM

With the cost of utilities these days, Monica's powers w ers today would be a remarkably handy power.

Dying for news from the panel!!!!!

NoodleChow 07-26-2014 04:12 PM

I'm betting on the 2 figures being Gamora and Captain Marvel in a landslide. Never enough girls in the collection.

Nexodusrex 07-26-2014 04:20 PM

I am very pleased by the panel. for me, these are my must gets

- Black Cat
- Beast
- Sandman
- Bishop
- Thunderstrike(Assuming its 90s thunderstrike or new thunderstrike and not that awful thor with a helmet. I havent seen pics yet)
- Doctor Octopus
- Vulture
- Shanna
- Northstar
- Dormammu(Legends, but it works with MU/I Scale)
- Gamora
- Captain Marvel

I'm hoping this magneto works, I have both the MU 2 pack ones (one has no helmet the other is way too short) and the ultimate ones I saw at retail looked like someone rubbed sand on his face.

So u r the dude who beat me when my phone took a shit at the fair last night!!!! DAMN!!!!

Anyway I just got back in from Marvel Universe live. It was pretty neat. My daughter loved it!

ukmu, you seem to be a resident Hydra specialist. I've given up on marvel universe army builders, I'm using Gi Joe retaliation Red ninjas as the hand & GI Joe Retaliation Night Vipers as Hydra Soldiers. I have some Joe vehicles I'm using & getting for my MU collection. I've contacted cobrastickers.com about doing Shield, Hydra & AIM logos. They are not going to do any. What have you been using or are you?

Captain Nash 07-26-2014 04:37 PM

Second wave of MI figures announced. Decent line up a lot of new characters, but not a ton of interest here for me.

Thunderstrike, Doc Ock, Juggernaut Colossus, Armored Daredevil, Vulture, Shanna and Northstar

I'll get Northstar and maybe Vulture. Already have a Doc Ock from spiderman series but will likely get anyways. Shanna I will get as it's a female figure, but what the frig - seriously why not Emma? NOT happy about that. I'm sure she'll be released at some point next year though.

Kind of bummed on this second wave revealed even though I'll get half of it. None of them except Northstar were on my list of 75+ wanted figures at all :(

2GOLD 07-26-2014 04:39 PM

I dunno, the panels reads like a proud father talking about his amazing son who he loves unconditionally..then there is his OTHER son that he wants a paternity suit about.

Even interupted AI to talk more Legends.

I like the adds but it doesn't feel promising at all. Glad for the Legends folks, beyond glad. But man, that was an ouch read as an AI/MU fan.

Yup. Couldn't agree more.

The Hasbro/Marvel panel from the 2014 San Diego Comic Con features Adam Biehl (Vice President, Global Marvel Line at Hasbro), Jesse Falcon (Director of Hardlines, Marvel), Dwight Stall (Senior Marvel Product Design Manager, Hasbro), Bobby Vella(sp) (Marvel Legends Designer) and Laura Gillwahl (Marketing).

We are bringing you live coverage of this panel as it happens so be sure to refresh your browser often over the course of the next hour.

Going over SDCC exclusives.

Super Hero Mashers launched this year. Kid focused. 2015 will see Logan and Skaar, Juggernaut and Whiplash.

Variant Covers Styled and Photoed By Alex Kropinak.

Avengers Marvel Legends Wave 1. Machine Man, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, Odin The All Father is the Build-A-Figure & King Thor when using swappable parts. Wave 2: Spider-Woman, Hellcat and Thanos Build-A-Figure. Alex Maleev will do custom artwork for the packaging.

Avengers movie Nick Fury, Maria Hill and Coulson Marvel Legends.

Modern Gamora is coming 2016 and Captain Marvel (female) for 3.75" line.

Marvel Legends Nova was one of the best selling figures they've had and already talking about a second wave of Guardians of the Galaxy figures.

Infinite Series -

Wave 1: Black Cat, Big Time Spider-Man, Bishop, Jim Lee Beast, Sandman, Swap Classic Grey Beats and all sand Sandman.

Wave 2: Thunderstrike, Doc Ock, Juggernaut Colossus, Armored Daredevil, Vulture, Shanna and Nothstar

More Marvel Legends:

Star-Lord, Gamara Classic Look, Groot, Drax 5 pack coming next year. Not announcing where it will be sold.

Marvel Legends Magik & Dormammu are coming, don't know when or where.

Dwight would like to see Reevers Marvel Legends. ROM Marvel Legends is not possible.

Bulldozer would have been in 2015 wave 1 but it would not have fit due to size with Odin but they are still working on getting it out. Made a hint it could end up being a Build-A-Figure for a future Marvel Legends wave this year.

Some of the delays like with Hawkeye and Iron Fist has allowed them to go back and improve them. Iron Fist will have multiple kung-fu hands.

Vehicles would be very tough for Marvel Legends. Jesse Falcon says he's glad they never released the one Toy Biz was working on because it would have been terrible.

They might try and test higher price point IE larger figures since they haven't lost much in the way of sales from the $20 6" basic figures.

Key characters they say that they will try to get more solid cases released to help fans the figures in demand in their hands.

X-Men figures for Marvel Legends we probably wouldn't see until 2016 when X-Men: Apocalypse movie comes out.

Panel Ends.

Primacron 07-26-2014 04:43 PM

Excited for Bishop and Vulture, will get Beast, Sandman, and Doc Ock to replace the stand ins I've got and will pick up Gamora, Northstar, Shanna and Black Cat.

I've spent the evening assembling Transformers Kabaya models so the evening hasn't been a complete waste waiting up.

Strange616 07-26-2014 05:14 PM

Looks like Gamora & Captain Marvel won

Hahaha don't worry, it was just a moment of pride. And technically I heard it a while back from tumblr. That article just confirmed the rumour to me a little

Strange616 07-26-2014 05:22 PM

As in, they had the most votes from Twitter. But yeah, yay Gamora!!

You sure called that one noodlechow!
No emma frost? That's a bummer but I'm glad we are getting new stuff...shanna seems so random though. I wonder if anyone asked about the articulation.

2GOLD 07-26-2014 05:32 PM

Yes, they pulled the new sculpts, less articulation. it's evolving over time, and line going strong company line answer.

spade 07-26-2014 05:36 PM

- Black Cat - Awesome
- Beast - happy for others. I have the SHS in blue and the grey one
- Sandman - Yes
- Bishop - Eh
- Thunderstrike(Assuming its 90s thunderstrike or new thunderstrike and not that awful thor with a helmet. I havent seen pics yet) - if 90's oh yeah! If it's the son, thats a downer
- Doctor Octopus - Please do justice by this character.
- Vulture - Same as Doc Ock. About time.
- Shanna - Surprising choice. Maybe this will lead to Tigra or a Kazar
- Northstar - finally
- Dormammu(Legends, but it works with MU/I Scale) - I'll probably get this too
- Gamora - Sure why not. I see its going be modern look

mdstimcell 07-26-2014 05:41 PM

Nexodusrex 07-26-2014 05:42 PM

But What About The second wave pics!

Btw, I'm totally going to mod Grey Beast into "Dark Beast". He needs a labcoat.

En Sabah Nerd 07-26-2014 05:45 PM

I hope modern look means Annihilation and on, not her Mass Effect armor. Maybe though the zipped up version of her annihilation costume like from towards the end of Guardians. My problem with her current look is the same problem I had with Hulk's brief armor wearing stint, the supposition that they need armor to defend themselves. Gamora is more kick ass if she can kill a field of enemies with only her natural endurance as defense. That and all of the Guardians we have so far are in those uniforms, well not Adam Warlock, but he wasn't really a member when you look at it. They basically just followed Adam around and helped fix the universe where he said.

En Sabah Nerd 07-26-2014 05:49 PM

Also, I hope that the Carol Danvers Captain Marvel figure doesn't use the mohawk mask, I'd prefer just her normal face.

NoodleChow 07-26-2014 05:54 PM

I really love the head on reg Beast. Likely gonna fix that onto the SHS body.

Ninjinister 07-26-2014 05:59 PM

Goddammit why can't we get a Coulson?

Relena Warcraft 07-26-2014 06:35 PM

Holy crap Gamora and Carol won?? Ha, they were both my choices. :P

Also Bishop has NO bicep swivel, just ball post elbow like some Joe's have. No thigh cuts, calf cuts, wrist cuts, bicep cuts, waist cuts, or articulated torso. Even Spidey is a straight up and down figure. I think 9 to 11 points of articulation per figure (add two more if you want to count double knees) is the way of the future. Some where between Ares and a Chitauri....

When I said biceps I means elbow but he doesn't have that the figure is fucked. You have to have at least one of the two, wrist or biceps/elbow on a figure that uses guns or else they are worthless. That takes Bishop from an easy figure to fix to needing full customization of his arms to make right. Count me out on that. I barely find time to do little repaints here and there. If all I needed to do swap it a Joe lower arm on and maybe paint the skin to match it would be a salvageable figure.

That Big Time Spider-Man looks like it came from the old Spidey line that none of us bought. It's a brick to stick on the shelf just to rep a certain costume. He can go right next to the Ben Rielly Spider-Man I bought from the first ASM line. Only difference is that I wouldn't have bought that figure if he cost more than $4. Can't pay $11+ for that. Cut ariculation on the figures that don't need it. Don't skimp on Beast or Spider-Man or characters that need guns.

To me THIS does feel like the real death of MU as they shift to figures like this. The problem is the character selection is so good. If it wasn't for getting a lot of new characters I wouldn't even think about buying figures with that articulation. Love to see them try to sell us more Caps and Iron Men when they can't even stack up to the past figures we pass on all the time.
