i was against the idea of getting a case when i first started to hear you guys all do it, then when i noticed the new legends don't appear here around my way til 3 months later, i decided to do so. it's not so bad $159 bucks? everyone here im sure works hard for their money might as well enjoy it too.

If you stop and think about it, $159 is somewhat of a bargain for an entire set, as you will save yourself the gas, the time, and in many cases, depending where you order, the state sales tax mark-up that comes with buying figures locally. You also have a chance of making some money back as well if you are in the BAF market, since many of these series now a days come with figures who carry duplicate parts (for example, Misty Knight and White Tiger in the Rhino wave), or an extra figure (Scarlett Spider/Venom/Ben Reilly) at minimal cost that can also be sold to recoup back some of the spending.

And there's also the headache that's saved as well of dealing with local scalpers, lousy distribution, and employees who like to save the good stuff in the back for themselves. Sure...you might be able to catch a break when you find them on sale for 5 dollars off a piece, but in my experiences, the former has been more likely to happen to me than the latter.

That was the main reason I moved to buying cases I really wanted. Central IL is one of those really weird areas where we get stuff months later or before anyone else. I was not trying to downplay a case buy at all. There have just not been waves I wanted that desperately lately. I was also amused by how many auctions I have seen for the full Hulkbuster wave for less than retail lately. Part of it is that I have also gotten to the point where I am fine with waiting so there is less urge to pre-order.

warmachine6 12-08-2015 03:34 AM

@TBM awesome pictures as always. What on earth (or not from earth) is that skeleton demon figure thing? Love it, want one! If you tell me it's a custom I'm going to cry.

TheBlueMarvel 12-08-2015 09:24 AM

@Nash

Thanks, Nash. You can breathe easy, it's not a custom. The fig is a Four Horsemen Studios toy, Gothitropolis Ravens: Decimus Hrabban. The line is a third love of mine, but I'm starting to wish I'd backed their upcoming Mythic Legends line as well as Gothitropolis because the secondary prices are exorbitant...putting it mildly.

Awesome thanks! I'll have to do some extra scouring because it's not on Amazon a this time. Thank you for the help though, I think this works really well with Dr. Strange, Blade, Magik etc.

Boy Blunder 12-08-2015 09:53 AM

@TBM that setup is incredible. And now it's making me want to pick up a Strange. Dammit. XD

warmachine6 12-08-2015 10:05 AM

i would get Dr Strange , just need to wait till November next year XD

ultraman zoffy 12-08-2015 10:16 AM

Great shots as always, TBM! I didn't have a use for Strange in that costume, so I spun the figure into an easy Marvel Now Warlock body instead... might have to grab another one to keep as Strange though to go with my SDCC set clear version.

yeap, here in SoFla these sets of legends come out literally 3 months later in our stores, while i see all of you guys posting pics of opening your new waves and so fourth. the yellow suit DD from walgreens is still a no show here as well.

You could probably buy a custom for cheaper LOL. Gothitropolis figures look amazing but damn the secondary market sucks and 4 Horsemen generally do not do more runs of them after the initial ones. You either have to get in on their Kickstarter funding or just be lucky enough to check the site at the right time.

OK, I am very curious to see the Warlock you made using that body as I have been wanting to make a Warlock for myself.

Speaking of customs, if anyone has an Art of Spawn 85 figure from series 27 (or just the cloak) you would be willing to sell for a reasonable price I am interested. I need the cloak for a custom I am working on.

Out of curiosity, what are you still trying to unload?

ultimate spider-woman
anti-venom
thundra
blizzard
valkyrie

all are still boxed up untouched, just missing BAF pieces. i tried ebay as selling as a lot but i never got any good offers and or the auction never met my reserve prices

I'm actually open to trading these bad boys now. i need 2 Superior spider-man figures. one to keep mint boxed and one i can open up and throw on the shelf with the rest of my spider characters.

TheBlueMarvel 12-08-2015 03:43 PM

@Zoffy & @Boy Blunder

I'm glad I could reinvest you in Strange, Zoffy! lol ....and Boy Blunder, grab Strange before the movie drops or you'll be doing a lot more cussing!;)

Found in Walgreens system (not specifically a Walgreens exclusive)- Rumored lined up (until hasbro confirms): Phoenix, Havok, Cable, Iceman, Kitty Pride, Deadpool, Wolverine, Rogue. Some of these have been shown and previously unreleased.

Marvel Legends X-MEN

I'm super excited about this wave and happy that we are getting lots of Characters that desperately needed an update, I really hope Havok is in his 90's costume, the Wolverine is X23 or Old Man Logan, the Iceman is the modern black Speedo version, Kitty should ideally be in her blue EXcalibur costume (but it will be her modern yellow and black so why dream) and I want Cable to have his (Chris Bachalo) Messiah Complex costume. Hasbro pretty much said that Fox movie figures were not going to happen and I could live without another comic Deadpool but I guess they can have my money this once, Phoenix is another figure I really could care less about seeing as we now have (including variants) 8 ML Jean Grey figures and not one Polaris or Dazzler figure (I might be okay with a new Phoenix if it is a Dark Phoenix and has a mullet Rachel alternate head). All in all I'm super happy my merry mutants are getting some much needed love! Oh and ROGUE!!!

wolverine2281 12-09-2015 01:25 AM

Some already have protos. Not to say they will be the same X-men being released
http://marvellegends.info/Upcoming/unreleased.jpg

warmachine6 12-09-2015 01:34 AM

Hmmm i feel like we've seen these and done a rouge idea, with Havok , Phoenix. Deadpool i hope has a bucky cap mold.
Havok i could use , as well as phoenix , ice-man been waiting for a while , needs some accessories.
Dam really wanted Beast i know toybiz has done one but i dunno might not be in their budget , one wolverine is enough for my collection i hope hes like he was in the puck wave , without a BAF piece
i hope hasbro has plans for a wave 2 of x-men but 1 wave is good and progress , going to have to hold on for 10 years for another storm figure ... yup the toybiz one was released in 2004 and that x-wave with mohawk storm is RARE and came out last year.... -___- [re-releases/ re-paint dont count i.e that X3 wave]
i shall hold my horses till hasbro says something

warmachine6 12-09-2015 01:36 AM

@wolverine2281 hmm most of those got released one way or the other espically brother voodoo

yes chucksass there is hope for Dani just got to put 25.00 somewhere safe and saved especially for her XD
