As for XM:A, I think it looks amazing thus far. A lot of my friends have been bashing it, basically saying that they should have went with an all CG Apocalypse, and while that would have worked well in the MCU, I don't think it would have come off as well in Fox's XMCU, which has a different look and organic and more human feel to it. I keep mentioning to them that there is still work that will be done to Apocalypse post production (as evidenced by the trailer, which never gives you a clear shot of his face, as well as the movie poster, which makes him look much more ominous and sinister) and that they should hold of reservations on it until then. As an Apocalypse fan from his first appearance in X-Factor, I'm eager to finally see this guy on the big screen. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...lken/z_0_1.jpg On a side note...if you would have told me that the best two trailers for upcoming comic films was going to be TMNT2 and XM:A, and that Civil War and BvS would be underwhelming or flat out disappointing, I would have laughed at you. Yet, here I am eating crow... |

Haha I did not expect the TMNT2 trailer to be so good but it amused me a lot. |

On the positive side, I like her better than Olivia Munn. |

In hindsight, I still see Singer's films as pretty good. The first X-men film was what it was....not a great film, but it was a pleasant surprise that said..."Hey...it IS possible to make a superhero film that could survive on the big screen for a change, and is not straight to video material." Flashing forward...it's pretty cringe-worthy, but who knew that 20 years later, we wouldn't be able to imagine anyone OTHER than Hugh Jackman as Wolverine? X-2 is one of my favorite superhero movies to this very day. I remember sitting in the movie theater thinking, "holy crap...this movie is bad ass." and it still resonates some of that feeling with me whenever I watch it. DoFP is probably my favorite film of Singer's, just barely edging out X-2 and First Class (which are interchangeable in my eyes.) simply because it gave us something I'd never thought we'd see, Sentinels, and it made them work. They were terrifying to watch in both the future and the past, and for the first time I think, I was actually able to empathize and vicariously understand just why mutants feared them so much, which was something that's much more difficult to convey in the comics when Rogue and Wolverine are routinely tearing them limb from limb without sustaining so much as a scratch in between the panels. Add in Singers pretty ingenious retcon to correct both his and Ratner's previous sins, and it gives me faith that despite the naysayers, Apocalypse will be just fine. The CGI on Bebop and Rocksteady is a bit rough, but then again it was on the turtles last year when that movie's first trailer debuted. There's plenty of time for them to clean it up. Hearing Bebop talk trash back at the turtles though, oh man did that give me a nerd-gasm that I had been waiting for since Secret of the Ooze disappointed me as a child so many years ago. |
My updated shelf.. Had to remove people I didn't think fit in... but now, I'm so tempted to order the Amazon 4 pack now that it's $47... I have a feeling I'll have it ordered in a few hours.. damn it..
http://www.3r14nd.com/images/Marvel/20151212_051418.jpg Just picked up the Thanos Wave Captain America and his Left hand, the one that came with the Shield on it, the pointing finger came bent. I thought it was a hook to hold the shield on when I first saw it until I looked closer. After some hot water it's now back to the way it should be. Now the question.. Is there no way to hook his shield onto his back? I could have sworn I've seen people who had it on there but it doesn't look like it does. Also, does the shield just kinda sit there with his hands through the loops and nothing actually holding it on? I ask because it tends to just fall off in certain poses. |

The first time one was really depicted as a force to be reckoned with, I think, was in the cartoon X-Men: Evolution. When a Sentinel finally appeared, it was this behemoth that was nigh indestructible, took out most of the X-Men AND Brotherhood, and also resulted in the mutants' exposure to the world at large.. and that was only one Sentinel! The feeling that episode ebbed was certainly reignited in DoFP, where the mutants were, fundamentally, screwed to hell and back. Granted, the mutants were severely under-powered (although Storm activating the nuke inside the X-Jet was genius), but those organic, mutating machines accompanied by the Inception-esque soundtrack was quite jaw-dropping. I have faith in Singer, and honestly am in the vast minority when I say that First Class is my least favourite out of the bunch. Mystique as Xavier's adopted sister, Moira as an American CIA agent, Sebastian Shaw's power set, Xavier as a weird playboy, and Emma Frost's atrocious character in general were just unforgivable. All terrible, terrible choices which were FAR worse than even Ryan Renolds' Baraka-pool in Origins: Wolverine. The stupendous scenes with Michael Fassbender couldn't save the film for me, unfortunately. |

TMNT2 didn't even look remotely good. It was all CGI with CGI and two of the worst TMNT characters ever created. Not to mention Tyler Perry is playing Baxter Stockman, which is just insulting.
The Apocalypse trailer had cool things in it, but again, I hear Sansa Stark, not Jean Grey. Don't get me started on how bad BvsS is going to be though, but then, I'm not surprised in the slightest. |

I'm also curious as to why Tyler Perry is an insult at Baxter? Baxter has always been an over the top, mad scientist character, and many of Tyler's comedy flicks are zany in that same way. While I personally would have loved to see Eddie Murphy take a stab at it (since he mostly does family films now a days), I still don't think it's an awful one (like Stephen Amell is for Casey.) Who would you have picked? |
Good thing my 6" collection is mainly X-Men and mutants. Can't wait for some new figures.

At least IDW has all the characters looking the way they should in their comics. |

As for my favorite villains from the series, Shredder and Kurai. I love the City at War comic arc that introduced Kurai and I hate how the Bay movie treated her. Quote:

Well I may be on the minority among all the X fans here but being a street level fan I'm so hoping they find a way to add Lady Bullseye to a wave like they're doing with Nuke.

God, I was so disappointed that he didn't direct DOFP, and it really showed in the film. I think Bryan Singer shouldn't be allowed near X-Men movies anymore... |
I do like the X-men films but noticed out of my favorite X2. Simon Kinberg wasn't involved at all , since his involvement [x-3 to Apocalypse] minus first class, went down hill. He's not needed at all

To be fair...a lot of the characters on the Nick Cartoon have some pretty bad incarnations. I like the redesigns of many of the older characters personally, just not the way the characters are translated to the show. Bebop, Casey Jones, Rocksteady, Metalhead, The Ninja Frogs (especially Napoleon,) they all kinda stink compared to previous versions. Bout the only characters I think they've done better are Leatherhead, Baxter and Rat King. But as the show has stated, it's an alternate reality (since the Turtles did see their 80's cartoon selves on a trip to Dimension X) and of course, we're seeing it through rose colored glasses, because most of the people I know with young children dig it. |
