Since I have shipped my ends of the deals out at this point, I feel it an appropriate time to brag about some action figure flipping I did this past week. I traded my SH Figuarts White Ranger (opened) to a collectibles store in my city for two Ionic Wondermen and Jubilee. I traded the Wondermen away for a MOC Scarlet Witch and a MOC Professor X. Realizing it's trading power, I picked up another one for $12 and traded it + $20 for 90's Jean Grey and Havok loose. I'm a very happy camper.

Nicely done, congrats!

I'd rather have the chopper but this fits so much better & well I kinda dug the bike in the Spirit of Vengeance film. The bike doesn't look as sporty more like a hybrid imho. Once black I think it will look much better.

It's just my opinion, but the Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider ought be on a chopper, not a sports bike. It's your display and totally your decision on which bike you use.

^Very nice, as always my friend! what do you make those buildings and structures out of? you need to start a tutorial thread.

kylactus 08-05-2014 09:02 PM

Someone sells or makes tentacles? I glued it back and truthfully I like it glued than before it was torn. Seems more sturdy

Yeah I'm amazed at how many people think it's a good idea to constantly repack certain figs. My local TRU finally got a case of MI and sure enough all that was left were 3 iron man and 2 caps. Oh well I guess I'm beating a dead horse but I still see it moving.

Gauntlet is foam??

Shit. I wish. I still think mcfarlaine screwed the pooch when they started up a 5 inch scaled line (the walking dead, halo, etc) and should have either went legends scale or marvel universe scale.

ukmu 08-06-2014 07:18 AM

I suppose a savvy guy could shrink that head, dremmel off the hair, sculpt the mohawk thing, then send it to someone to cast in blue for us all..... there are I am sure, a few pefect bucks for him and add an overcoat cast in the right colour....Bobs your uncle.

Just got back from my mates house, he has wave 4 in so I picked up a couple Ionic Wonderman (Wondermen? Wondermans? Wondermai?) figures. He is really cool looking. The GotG repacks look really nice single carded I have to say. If only they were in stores, kids would buy them. Also he had 3 Boba 6" Black Series, a few 6" Stormtroopers, the new Marvel Mashers Deadpool, which is KILLER looking in hand, SDCC ReAction Predator (clear with the neon green blood on a white card) had those unpunched, and his new prize, the limited 31" Shadow Trooper Star Wars SDCC figure, one of only 500 in the world. He collects one line.... 31" Star Wars so this is his baby, has a second one coming even. Several cases of MI Wave 3, all the GotG ML with baf groot, these new Star Wars NERF Stom Trooper blasters, my son LOVED them, but he didnt have enough pennies save to buy on today. He did get a Mezco Heisenberg for a tenner. He said, "I think i may become a fan of Breaking Bad and start a collection."...translation=Dad buy me more crap. It is nice having a toyseller live 3 miles away!

Fun day! Back to my studio now as I have 6 drawings due in the morning to a Porsche collector.... got about 20 more hours left to finish them proper, and 18 to do it in (plus eat and sleep)... as Michelangelo said, art is never finished...merely abandoned.

Thought I'd share the story of the new figures. Have a great day true believers!

It's funny how quickly people forget that no one outside of hardcore fans knew anything about the Avengers a few years ago. People knew Hulk and then they were aware of Cap and maybe Thor or Iron Man. The X-Men have been in the public eye for longer with movies, TV shows, and toys since the 80's. For kids under 10 there might be some knowledge gap but it's' not like they are minor characters. Not saying Mystique is an a-list villain but a brotherhood set would be really popular, especially with a good Magneto figure (very unlikely now).

ukmu 08-06-2014 09:14 AM

icnatBserious...where is your BST?

I cant find it.

Ha! I love it. I grew up an Avenger fan and use to catch heck from X-men fans. It wasn't that the x-men weren't cool but man people use to be over the moon with them. Wolverine, Wolverine, Wolverine! geez.

The original X-factor was my gateway to collecting X-men related books. Story started in the Avengers, remember.

I admit it a shame how they dilluted the brand over the years.

kylactus 08-06-2014 09:31 AM

it seems to me there is just such an inconsistently in the writing of the x books for over a decade now! the team is constantly broken up, in-fighting, good guys are bad. bad guys are good. too many mutants, no mutants, there back, there dead. writing wise, I'd say X-men is at the same place the Avengers were in the 90's/2000's. They should really get there shit together and re-launch with a good central roster and less self absorbed story lines.

I guess I really can't say a great deal about what non-comic readers knew before 2007. Any of my friends who weren't comic readers wanted to know from me anyway, so anyone I knew was relatively aware of Marvel happenings, even the more out there characters. I would say though that the big 5 have always been known to a degree to the general public. Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, and Wolverine are the big five, and are in one way or another constantly a large part of Marvel's dealings. So I suppose having known that since I was a kid I always thought that people knew about the Avengers, even if they didn't know that was the team name. Hell, the big 5 get more toys than any other characters, even in the character spanning MU line you can point out the big 5 by who has the most toys.

kylactus 08-06-2014 10:42 AM

I love how all of a sudden Hulk is considered an Avenger! sure he was a founding member, but he only lasts a couple issues. so unless your 50 or older you are more likely to have read an Avengers story with a crazy, Villainous, or out of control hulk than the gentle, (yet rage prone) giant we get in the movies and cartoons.

And one of his new powers is stealing peoples' motor bikes and getting away with it. I hope SHIELD compensated whoever had their bike hulk-jacked. That would be a weird accessory for a future Hulk toy: "Now includes stolen old motor bike, but don't steal kids because stealing is wrong!"

kylactus 08-06-2014 11:13 AM

and it makes you wonder why Banner "acquires" the bike, bums some clothes and shows up just in time, when he clearly stats later that he can change at will. Why not just Hulk out and jump to the fight?

Clearly he needed something to keep him "always angry", so the guilt of stealing a bike was enough, but he saved the turning for the fight. That line made no sense and still kind of bothers me, he isn't always angry and the Hulk because he's always angry?! That's like asking regular milk why it isn't always chocolate milk (because it needs chocolate syrup or powder or whatever), and then the regular milk says that it is always chocolate milk. Okay we've talked about the movies and people not knowing who the Avengers were some time ago, let's get back to toys.

I make almost everything from the pink insulation foam board sold at home depot. Lowes has green foam board, but it is much more porous than the pink. The Daily Bugle was made out of wood and plexi. It is hard to tell, but the first three floors actually have plexi windows.

Here is a more detailed pic of the newest building I made. I want to eventually turn it into "The Comic Stan-D" and that is why Stan Lee is in the building in the other pic.
