Also that's an interesting conversation regarding female powerhouses. if I may throw my hat into that ring, I think the most powerful females are going to be more energy or magic based users. Storm, Phoenix (both Jean and Rachel) Moonstone and Captain Marvel (both Carol and Monica) as far as energy based, Magik, Scarlet Witch, Selene, Madelyne Pryor and Morgan Le Fay as far as magical are to me not only the most powerful women in Marvel but potentially the most powerful characters period, with throwing a handful of males like Thor, Loki, Dr. Doom, Dr. Strange, Mangneto, Wonder Man and X-Man in there. That's not taking into account any Lord of Hell which is a whole different direction. And if you're talking the most overall powerful marvel character, we really need to look at the characters who were able to create entirely new realities (without Time Travel or revealed to just be psychic manipulation ) and that would Morgan Le Fay and Scarlet Witch. To me, that pretty much tops any other ability, be it psychic or physical.

Yeah Susan Storm could be super deadly like the Super Skrull if she let loose but her morality keeps her from doing that all the time. In the cosmic run when Rachel was with the Starjammers she was kinda regularly referred to as an omega level telepath and a significant threat by different alien species plus in AvX she kinda took Thor on solo so just above average doesn't sound right for her especially reckoning when she had the Phoenix force under her control.

You make really good points there, and Jean and Wanda (and Morgan too!) would definitely take the points for most powerful IF writers didn't have to keep driving a bus over them. Rachel is another beast entirely (and I mean BEAST). Her considerable TK powers, combined with her telepathic abilities, all of which augmented by the Phoenix force, make her very much like Maxima of DC (although, I think Rachel is potentially more powerful in spite of Maxima demonstrating more 'on-hand' physical power). Her TK gives her a measure of invulnerability and super-strength, theoretically. More significantly, her Phoenix Force makes her a power cosmic wielder. Unfortunately, as you alluded to, writers can either carry or ruin the day by limiting her access to the Phoenix Force.

Rachel has had many standout battles; a starving Galactus featuring prominently. However, I cringe when this technique is employed in order to make a statement about a hero or villain's level of power i.e. Thanos and Odin doing the same to Galan when his strength was waning (fight Glactus straight up dammit! lol I just might be a Galactus fan :D). Using this logic, Silver Surfer is by far the most powerful being among Marvel heroes given that he defeated not one, but two fully powered proemial gods in the form of Tenebrous and Aegis. A feat that even Galactus was shocked to learn. Ahem...fanboy mini-rant done and I'm most definitely a Surfer fan!!! ;)...back to Rachel. She also defeated/overwhelmed the Beyonder by giving him all of the Phoenix's power. That's pretty crazy stuff right there. Then there was her fight with Necrom, a former Phoenix Force user AND sorcerer supreme of his reality. I believe that was when I was most impressed by her might. They were going at it and she attacked him with planets....Planets!?!? But of course, her conduit to the Phoenix was on full-tilt because it (the Phoenix) wanted to reject Necrom...if I remember correctly.

With all of that said, it's obvious that she's a heavy weight. But I'm left wondering (as with Wanda) exactly how 'heavy' she might be. She acquitted herself well against an energy leech like Vulcan, but was clearly out-matched against Gladiator (one of Marvel's many Superman-like characters...along with Sentry, Blue Marvel, Strontian/Xenith). How would Rachel fair against Thanos?...Odin?...Zeus?...Mikaboshi?...Mephisto?.. .Tenebrous?...Aegis?...Dormammu?...Franklin Richards?...X-man?...Onslaught?...Magus (of the Technarchy - how the hell did Colossus, Rogue, and Nightcrawler ever defeat him?) and a whole slew of other 'ultra-might' characters?

I could pontificate about these things for days, but I'll spare the thread and end my tangential contribution here...

I generally like that Wanda isn't constantly an OP wrecker of realities. The fact that she's still really only a human/mutant/mutate places limits that can keep things interesting. Adam Magus is another character who can restructure reality but he is typically one of the god-power guys.

Technically this all happens in the astral plane but that's supposedly where Onslaught is most vulnerable.
