Not likely as this year's exclusive, though I could see some of those figures revealed at ToyFair. The SDCC set is going to, in some way, include Abomination. His digital sculpt was revealed during the SDCC panel. This has been Hasbro's way of teasing the exclusive set for a couple years. Moonstone, Star-lord, Magik, Dormammu, etc.

Also Prowler just isn't a very important or popular character. Elba playing him would be just as if not more of waste as him being Heimdall.

These days the comics say different

Yeah, he was just in the first of second issue of the new Amazing Spider-Man filling in as Spidey, and he was in the Renew Your Vows Secret Wars tie-in :D

Good god, I have never even seen that set around here. Distribution sucks. I would buy a few of those at $25.

Well I guess someone decided to take him off the shelf and wipe all that heavy dust off for a comeback.

I will be so annoyed if they make Thor or Ms Marvel SDCC exclusives.

Happy New Year everyone! What a good year it's been for ML collectors, I never thought we'd see this many releases again. I brought pretty much all my Avengers figures this year, so I'd say it's been a success!

http://i1370.photobucket.com/albums/...pstvesthyz.jpg

Some quality figures came out this year (albeit with a gummy joint or two), so let's see what 2016 brings. Come on, Wonder Man, All-New Herc and Spectrum!

Congratulations mate on your 75th figure! Are they all recent acquisitions? Hasbro has released a LOT this year.

We know she can warp reality thanks to House of M and Avengers: Disassembled. But so can a few other characters like Jasper, Korvac, Proteus, and Sersi (another femme to add to the list of uber-power). Additionally, she took out one of the Enchanters (Magnir) on her own without the aid of Thor or Odin. The Enchanters function more as enemies of Odin than they do Thor, quite an impressive feat. However, her mortality, inability to survive the vacuum of space, and vulnerability to physical injury all make her more of a runner-up in comparison to that upper echelon of over the top power.

Jasper! What a wonderful character. Wanda could wipe the floor with almost any Avengers villain, but of course a bump to the head can take her out of commission like that. Unfortunately, her powers present a threat to the writer above all else due to her deus ex machina abilities. Although, again, Strange has deus ex magic, and he's written perfectly well?

Rachel is another beast entirely (and I mean BEAST). Her considerable TK powers, combined with her telepathic abilities, all of which augmented by the Phoenix force, make her very much like Maxima of DC (although, I think Rachel is potentially more powerful in spite of Maxima demonstrating more 'on-hand' physical power). Her TK gives her a measure of invulnerability and super-strength, theoretically. More significantly, her Phoenix Force makes her a power cosmic wielder. Unfortunately, as you alluded to, writers can either carry or ruin the day by limiting her access to the Phoenix Force.

Rachel has had many standout battles; a starving Galactus featuring prominently. However, I cringe when this technique is employed in order to make a statement about a hero or villain's level of power i.e. Thanos and Odin doing the same to Galan when his strength was waning (fight Glactus straight up dammit! lol I just might be a Galactus fan :D). Using this logic, Silver Surfer is by far the most powerful being among Marvel heroes given that he defeated not one, but two fully powered proemial gods in the form of Tenebrous and Aegis. A feat that even Galactus was shocked to learn. Ahem...fanboy mini-rant done and I'm most definitely a Surfer fan!!! ;)...back to Rachel. She also defeated/overwhelmed the Beyonder by giving him all of the Phoenix's power. That's pretty crazy stuff right there. Then there was her fight with Necrom, a former Phoenix Force user AND sorcerer supreme of his reality. I believe that was when I was most impressed by her might. They were going at it and she attacked him with planets....Planets!?!? But of course, her conduit to the Phoenix was on full-tilt because it (the Phoenix) wanted to reject Necrom...if I remember correctly.

With all of that said, it's obvious that she's a heavy weight. But I'm left wondering (as with Wanda) exactly how 'heavy' she might be. She acquitted herself well against an energy leech like Vulcan, but was clearly out-matched against Gladiator (one of Marvel's many Superman-like characters...along with Sentry, Blue Marvel, Strontian/Xenith). How would Rachel fair against Thanos?...Odin?...Zeus?...Mikaboshi?...Mephisto?.. .Tenebrous?...Aegis?...Dormammu?...Franklin Richards?...X-man?

Oh man, she's so inconsistent. She did fight Gladiator (mostly off-panel, mind you) 'to a standstill' during the Rise and Fall of The Shi'ar Empire arc, but as you say BM that might just be Ed Brubaker's version of "see how powerful she is!" However, this was with the aid of the Phoenix Force, which in turn had been augmented by her connection with Korvus' Phoenix Blade. So she isn't regularly that powerful, but then again she beat down on Thor during AvX.. That wasn't a true battle though, and more of a "smackdown then escape" scenario.
On topic, if this "Phoenix" character in the new ML X-series happens to be Rachel in her Jean Grey School outfit, I would be over the moon. She's never looked cooler than in that trenchcoat with the spikes and cropped hair. Would Hasbro sculpt that much detail?! Who knows. I'd even take her as a BAF if that means we'd get her in all her fiery glory.

I also third a plea for Clea! Why she's not included in the ONE chance she could be included in a wave is beyond me.

With the New Year here, what was everyone's favorite Marvel Legend of 2015?

For me personally....I can't decide between Pizza Spidey and AoU Thor. Pizza Spidey filled a HUGE gap in my collection and the figure itself is pretty perfect. AoU Thor, I'm not much of a movie figure guy, but this Thor is awesome. I've only had it for a couple of days now, but I haven't been able to put it down. The sculpt and paint are fantastic. His left shoulder joint is a little worrisome as I'm scared it might tear, but other than that, this Thor is amazing. It almost rivals the Marvel Select Disney Store Exclusive Thor with the spinning hammer as being my favorite Thor figure.

Great question. I really liked Spider-Woman and Spider-man 2099. I thought they were great figures. I also gotta give some credit to the the most recent Spider-Man with the swap Spider Carnage parts. I never thought we'd ever get a legends Spider Carnage.

Captain Marvel for me, followed by the Hulkbuster BAF if we're counting those.

warmachine6 01-01-2016 09:49 AM

At first i was going to say ghost rider really liked him,
but i think kraven wins for me for last year with the paint as , new body mold and best paint apps, also the fun fact thinking of not even having the character in my collection at all is now in my collection.
Cheers Von Pooten I buy when i can, if i have the money to spend it on , or if i can find a bargain.

I was thinking of picking up the trades for that story. Did you like the arc?

That's sort of hard. 'Best' from a sculpt perspective? Or nostalgia and fandom perspective? For me, on the sculpt end, the Rhino fig floored me. My inner fan was overjoyed with Spidey, Gamora, Strange, and Tiger Shark. And the end of the year brought Absorbing Man (another contender, for me), who is oddly pose-friendly for a BAF:

http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/...pstntvnqkm.jpg

Hasty photo thrown together, but at least Absorbing Man came out clearly...

warmachine6 01-01-2016 10:11 AM

Man wish those were in here in the UK

Kirathis 01-01-2016 10:32 AM

Hard to decide on my favorite for the year. Pizza Spidey became the definitive Spidey in my collection but as a big fan of the hooded Scarlet Spidey look, I loved that figure. Then again, I loved getting a comic style Guardians lineup. Decisions decisions.

Dr Kain 01-01-2016 10:53 AM

I finally paid for my Absorbing Man wave. Selling a lot of DCU stuff for $125 helped motivate me to pay for it. Can't wait until they arrive.

BTW, is Silvermane's head removable?

Which is quite funny considering the names chosen for black character. Black Lightning, Black Panther, Black Vulcan, Black Racer, Brother Voodoo, Black Manta, etc.

Hell, I'm surprised Static Shock, Papa Midnight, and Falcon made it out without having Black in their name.

For me its a toss up between hoodie scarlet spider and 2099 spidey. Both ive wanted since the old kb spidey classics and its good to have them in my collection. I also liked phil coulson and maria hill.

Oddly enough I think the term black panther was being applied to the animals themselves long before the comic character showed up. I was looking into the hero's name origin once and found that there was a segregated unit in WWII called the "Black Panthers." But getting back to the actual animal, why would anyone bother calling them "black panthers" when there is no other kind of panther?! I know many black heroes were created when blacksploitation was at a high so names were often given to make their appeal immediately apparent.

My favorite ML for 2015 would be a split between Scarlet Witch and Wasp. I'm super glad to have both characters and my only gripe is Wanda's cape is too short for her to just stand upright.

Trivial Psychic 01-01-2016 01:44 PM

Considering the name Black Panther was also held by a nationalist/socialist group in the 1960's, I'm surprised T'Challa's name hasn't been changed to just "The Panther" or something similar to that effect to avoid the PC racebaiting backlash that has it's tentacles into everything now a days...

My favorite Legends figures this year had to Pizza Spidey, Daredevil, and Anti-Venom. Never in my life did I expect to get an Anti-Venom figure from Hasbro, so it really put a smile on my face when we did. Chameleon was awesome as well, due to the fact that we got three different characters with that one, and Rhino was my favorite BAF, hands down.

Does anyone know of any places that has the the Toxin/Anti-Venom bladed fingers casted? I've checked Casting Cave already, but no dice. I'd like to get a set for swapping when Venom releases, and I'd rather not go through the trouble or expense of buying another figure to maul for them...

Cheers mate, thirty one figures crammed onto one shelf, and with more Avengers to come it's only going to get more crowded! Also blinkin' 'eck you got your Absorbing Man wave already? That's quick! Love the Ben Reilly T&A pose haha.

As for Rise and Fall, it's a very good story! Brubaker brought the Shi'ar back into the fold and made the comic feel classic yet fresh and modern at the same time. However, if you're looking for a class X-Men arc from 2006 I would recommend Mike Carey's Supernovas, which was occurring concurrently to Brubaker's run. Fantastic arc with great character work and brilliant artwork from Bachalo!

That's tough, there were some great figures this year. I would say Scarlet Witch, if she hadn't got those silly high heels, but after her it would have to be the Ramos Hobgoblin BAF or Dormammu. They were both fantastic figures sculpt-wise, extremely impressive!

Boy Blunder 01-01-2016 02:45 PM

Hard to say which ML is my favorite of 2015, but I think for me, it's a three-way tie between White Tiger, Spider-Girl (Mayday), and Batroc.

Because the comic character predates the group by a few months I think there was safety in keeping the moniker since they had it first between the two. It also helps that the character was quite positively received as the first major black superhero, if his reception hadn't been so smooth then maybe they'd have changed his name.

Yeah, on second look, he's looking pretty fabulous! lol I'm not a big fan of the character, and just threw him up there not thinking about how he looked...lol He definitely stood 'out'...the figs did arrive quickly, I had them before New Year's eve. Absorbing Man and Morbius were my main draws, but I'm happy with the wave. I'm trying to figure out which wave I'll spot shop. I must build Onslaught, and I'll likely build whatever comes from the X-Wave too. Some of these figs, while cool and interesting, there's no real appeal for me.

Ok, I'll take your suggestions and check those stories.
