At least UPS and USPS will leave stuff on the front porch (which is well hidden from prying eyes, so).

Which is why we went with the Super Saver, since the final leg of delivery is handled by USPS, not FedEx. And between that and being cheap, I'm down (also, I'm fortunate enough to have a decent rapport with our local postal crew, since I do a lot of eBay shipping through them).

yea same here, i prefer USPS, however today i believe fedex definitely brought that package to my house... if i wasn't so hit hard pocketwise from christmas and i just recently took a trip to orlando for a day in disney , i think i would have opted for another shipping option.

Lol...true, but as much as I'd like to take credit for those awesome pics, that's the work of TBM!

donmeca2020 01-06-2016 01:05 PM

Anyone interested in the new Venom, if so PM me i'll take $15 bucks for him plus shipping and he's yours. BAF parts not included.

I think they got a good actor for him, they just didn't do a whole lot with the character.

I prefer the AoS version anyway - one of the few times Creel's head doesn't look like a confused football.

Boy Blunder 01-06-2016 02:37 PM

Sorry for the double post, but I'm wondering - what buck is Jack O' Lantern sporting? I've never seen it before, but the articulation (specifically the hips) make it seem like am older buck.

TheBlueMarvel 01-06-2016 02:48 PM

@Boy Blunder

Jack O'Lantern shares the same buck as Ghost, from the Thunderbolts SDCC pack. The Ghost figure is superior. IMO

Dr Kain 01-06-2016 05:33 PM

Okay, so the new wave came in.

Prepare for a lot of pics below, but here are my quick thoughts on each figure:

Speed Demon - Uses the Spider-Man body which is cool. I like that he comes with running hands. If I knew anything about him I might find this toy awesome, but I don't, so I can't. Well, that isn't true, the toy itself is great, I just wish I knew more about him to make it worth it.

Silvermane Head - Awesome sculpt and paint job.

Beetle - Uh yeah, no idea who she is, but this toy is just Wasp in less than stellar colors. The head is really loose too. Easily my least favorite of the wave. She will be sold off when I sell off some other Marvel stuff.

Morbius - One of my favorite Marvel characters out there and this figure is great. Unfortunately, he uses the freaking body that can not extend his thighs out, which sucks for a vampire character. I also don't think Morbius is supposed to be that muscular. Also, to be honest, I'm more of a 90s costume fan than I am of the original Morbius costume. I know I am sound negative and overly critical, but that is just because I love the character that much. Nevertheless, the face sculpt is fantastic and I love what they did with the cape. Too bad he didn't come with a tiny Basilisk statue or anything though, but oh well. Of the four Morbius toys I have owned, this is easily the best.

Jack O'Lantern - Worst made toy in the wave. Yes, Beetle is my least favorite, but this is the worst. ACK!! I wanted to love this figure so much. In fact, I love the fact sculpt. However, he can't hold his weapons for ****. I don't even know what the broom is supposed to be used for as he can't even hold it properly to ride, or do anything else, with it. The thighs are freaking balls, so it looks like he is a toy instead of a character (I know). What should have been one of the best in the wave ends up being the worst due to stupid engineering. He should have had alternate hands that could hold his stuff, or they shouldn't have included the sickle and broom to begin with.

Ben Reily/Spider-Carnage - Except for the fact that the right open hand's peg is larger than the hole, he is great. And it is like that on both of my figures, so it is something Hasbro ****ed up on. That aside, everything else is great. I love the Spider-Carnage pieces too.

Venom - This is better than I was expecting. I love the hands, but most of all, both face sculpts look fantastic. I'm not sure which one I like more. I love the sculpted teeth on the one with the tongue sticking out, but the regular head just looks so menacing as it is. The bigger body does a great job too. My only nitpick is the holes in his back should have been taken advantage up with some symbiote goop or something. In fact, for a character that I hate what they have done to in the last 18 or so years, this is my favorite figure of the wave.

Spider-Gwen - I enjoyed the character in Spider-Verse, but most of all, it's Gwen Stacy. That is all I wanted in my collection. I just hope there is a regular type body eventually that I can fit her head on since she has a smaller peg. Until then, she will just be on my shelf cosplaying.

Absorbing Man - I love the interchangeable heads and arms, but I do wish he came with a regular right arm. Nevertheless, he is a great figure outside of the horribly sculpted wrecking ball. Hasbro should fire whoever thought it was a good idea to make the chain rock hard plastic.

Venom - In fact, for a character that I hate what they have done to in the last 18 or so years, this is my favorite figure of the wave.

This Beetle is Janice Lincoln, Tombstone's daughter. She was primarily featured in the Superior Foes of Spider-Man, where a bunch of basically losers try and make the new sinister six with only 5 members. She used to practice law but convinced her dad to help her break into super villainy.

Classic Venom is still the best Venom.

donmeca2020 01-06-2016 05:48 PM

Dr.Kain - i agree with you on the morbius look... i wish they would have made the long sleeve 90s look rather then his first appearance look.... oh well other then that it looks like a great figure.

Venom looks alright, however i don't think this one tops the select version, with the mcfarlane look, larsen look, and the madness look.

Tombstone is black, but her mother is Latina (probably Dominican like she claims), so she's biracial.

Well, technically Tombstone's albino but yeah in Superior Foes she had a just darker than white tone so I assumed she was biracial or at the least had a tan.

Where to go for a nice Diorama for 6" scale?
I am not even sure if diorama is the right word? I am looking for a base that looks like uneven road with some rocks dirt and grass. Also a background with a brick wall and such.

Kirathis 01-06-2016 09:24 PM

Al Figures does some great dios. Last I checked he does commissions. He has a YouTube channel and I know he gives recommendations for building your own too. I messaged him once and he told me a great resource if you are looking to build your own is the Diostructure FB group. I have yet to get around to trying it.

At the risk of sounding like the barbers from the classic Eddie Murphy movie "Coming To America," why is it that every time someone brings up the Legends Venom, someone has to mention the Select version? Can we seriously stop comparing the two? It really is a case of apples and oranges, and is like comparing Black Series Star Wars figures to Star Wars Elite figures. They are two completely different brands with different points of articulation and scale, and neither work particularly well with the other.

I love the Select Venom just as much as everyone else, but it would look entirely out of place with a Marvel Legends collection, for as nice as the figure is, it is simply too big. This Legends version of Venom is simply the best Marvel Legends version of this character that there is date, including the Toy Biz days. My Select Venom is awesome, but as awesome as he is, he stands posed on my shelf collecting dust. The Legends one is getting played with when he finally arrives...

Indeed.

understandable, but then i can think of a few legends that look better then the select versions.... pizza spidey looks better then the other select spideys i've seen. hasbro legends also wins me over due to the fact they have a bigger variety other then just the 20 plus movie figures they put out yearly with 3 comic versions of characters they put out.

Anyways with Absorbing man, i started wondering about him so i decided to see what comic was his first appearance, apparently he first came out in a journey into mystery comic, he was battling Thor, and on numerous occasions i've seen him fight hulk... i wonder how he got thrown into a spider-man wave. im sure they might have fought once or twice but i don't believe he's a regular spidey villian, at least not what i can recall with my Spider-man expertise per say lol

Boy Blunder 01-06-2016 10:34 PM

For the same reasons that Misty Knight and Ghost Rider were in the previous Spidey wave?

Personally, I don't care for the Select Venom. But then, I'm not a fan of the Select toys in general. Venom though, he just looks off to me. It doesn't help that he comes with those ugly overdone heads that popped onto his shoulders in that one story (which is when I really started to despise Venom and the symbiotes in general).

That's what I was trying to figure out too. Maybe he was supposed to be in the next Avengers BAF wave but that was axed for the Civil War line and they wanted to do Overkill Red Skull instead? They really should have done someone far more important like Kingpin or a Spider Slayer.

Honestly though, outside of Fisk, I can't really think of too many more huge villains Spidey has. Maybe they should have done a really nice Doctor Octopus?

To be fair, Ghost Rider has teamed up with Spidey on several occasions.

Anyway, here is an updated list of my Spider-Man wants:

Classic Green Goblin
Classic Electro (or at least, a comic accurate one)
Doctor Octopus
Kingpin
Sleepwalker (he can even come with a hoodless head to put on a Spidey body)
Sandman
Mysterio
Vulture
Scorpion
Lizard

Ghost Rider was also a member of that short lived Fantastic Four team with the Hulk, Spider-Man and Wolverine in the late 80's/early 90's.

If only I could have a Sleepwalker figure and a 90's Darkhawk figure. I would also really like 90's era Cardiac, Silver Sable, The Spot, Infinity War Spider Doppelganger, a Classic male Beatle, Tombstone, Punisher 2099, and a BAF of Ghost Rider 2099

Oh yeah and a Captain Universe/ Uni Power/ Cosmic Spidey!!

He was also a biker in weird science.

His name is Michael Berryman. He was also the Skull Cowboy character in THE CROW, but they ended up cutting the character out of the movie in 1994. The Skull Cowboy did appear in the original Crow comic as a guide type character to help Eric stay on his path of vengeance.

The new wave comes in tomorrow. Can't wait! Probably most excited for Venom, Morbius and Jack O'Lantern.
