Creature Cantina 4 aleins set is now complete, unless I want to pay $100 for the blue Snaggletooth
https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2932/...5b9aa31d_z.jpg#starwars so I've completed the first four original vintage Star Wars figures for the creature Cantina. Now to find my base and print the backdrop to once again have fun with it by SacredKnightOfTomorrow, on Flickr

Falconhood 06-26-2014 06:13 AM

Loving these retro figures!

bmorr 06-26-2014 06:52 AM

i call it both retro and hasbro cheaping out on us with articulation. this isnt 1977.

Falconhood 06-26-2014 07:12 AM

It's not 1977? I guess I'll get rid of my Atari VCS and Laserdiscs, too!
I'm loving the Retro World. Cheaper doesn't mean badder.
How many ppl are paying MORE for those little 4 POA He-Man figures? The cute ones? They are cheap, and yet cost too much. It's all about style.
here's a side-by-side of the Saga Legends Boba Fett and the 199X Boba Fett
https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5486/...e081d89f_z.jpg#starwarshasbro #starwarssagalegends #starwarsactionfigures #starwars Boba Fett by SacredKnightOfTomorrow, on Flickr
These are much better than the 199X figures, imo. Especially at the crotch, and...does 199X BF have a neck??

The retros cost about $6 each, while the more articulated figures are about $10 each. Hasbro's not really cheaping out on us since the more articulated figures are now part of the current Black line, which means they're still producing and selling them along side the retro figures.

bmorr 06-26-2014 07:47 AM

t crotch figures still plague most of the black series 4" line. Degobah Luke is the unique snowflake of that line.

but, these figures do tend to go more form than function in design. Howevor, i still want to pose them dammit! I cant do that if the figure can only stand or march. Fuck T-crotch figures.

Falconhood 06-26-2014 08:15 AM

The T-Crotches are in both lines, right? I hate them, but they do help to stand better.

bmorr 06-26-2014 08:44 AM

yeah, that is part of what ticks me off about what they are doing. The low priced "vintage" figures have almost the same articulation as the SW black figs. The difference? You're paying five dollars more for knees and elbows. Shoulders if your lucky.

Falconhood 06-26-2014 09:00 AM

I just kinda wish they put a vinyl cape on Darth Vader...naugh, but that would be interesting.
I want MORE!! We still don't have cinnabuns Leia in this line, and Jawas.

bmorr 06-26-2014 09:05 AM

as a 6" SWB collector, im waiting in the same line.

Optimus Neeson 06-26-2014 09:21 AM

The Black series figures have:
ball-jointed heads
ball-swivel shoulders (2 points of articulation)
ball-swivel elbows (2 points of articulation)
rotating wrists
ball-jointed waists
t-crotch thighs
ball-swivel knees (2 points of articulation)
ball-swivel ankles (2 points of articulation)
----for a total of 13 points of articulation

They are only outclassed by the GI Joe figures who have ball-jointed thighs.

The retros only have 5 points of articulation, one for each limb.

bmorr 06-26-2014 09:38 AM

yeah but all that makes little difference when all they can do is stand there. hip/thigh movement is a big deal for posing.

They can also sit, and lay down flat. You can also make them look like they're doing push-ups.

2014 saga legends stormtrooper >>>>> black series stormtrooper

like I said saga legends stormtrooper >>>>> black series :p

DarthNexus 06-26-2014 06:32 PM

eh I'll take repainting my black series and having articulation over having a robostormie any day. The 6 inchers are what i collect and so far i haven't repainted them yet and they're still beauts.

Il Cattivo 06-26-2014 06:43 PM

the lack of articulation doesn't bother me. they do their job which is stand in the back and look good. they don't need to be in crazy poses.

DarthNexus 06-26-2014 06:55 PM

eh i still play with my toys

Falconhood 06-26-2014 07:35 PM

I play with my toys too, and those articulated ones get broken in pockets too easily. These are much more sturdy.

DarthNexus 06-26-2014 07:59 PM

you put them in your pocket?

How else are you going to carry them? I'm a guy, so I don't have a purse to put them in.

Exodus 06-27-2014 12:45 PM

Who needs the 6 inch black series star wars stormtrooper? PM if not I'll take it back to the store, cost is 25 including shipping.

DarthNexus 06-27-2014 02:44 PM

^ that's one heck of a deal i'd get it if i didn't already have 7 storms and 7 clones

DarthNexus 06-27-2014 02:45 PM

so somebody pls take it before I'm tempted
