I was just thinking yesterday that my collection is in dire need of a Doctor Octopus. Hasbro's been doing a great job at getting us Spidey's Rogues Gallery, but just when you think you're done, you remember that Spidey still has a metric-ton of foes and you've barely scratched the surface.

I was feeling really good about how many Spidey villains I have in my collection, then I remembered that I'm still missing Doc Ock. Vulture. Shocker. Mysterio. Morlun. Jackal. Lizard. Electro. The list goes on and on lol.

warmachine6 01-16-2016 11:19 PM

there was a spider-man origins version as well which i prefer luckily same body mold etc as the series 8 dr. ock just with a darker green and silver.
Found this image from agess ago its been a huge progression over the years XD

EDIT: be nice for hasbro to do updates on shocker , vulture , electro. Working on finishing rhino [baf] the rest im happy with

Honestly I don't think anything can beat that Doc Ock figure. The sculpt, the articulation, the tentacles, it's easily one of my favourites from either ToyBiz or Hasbro, and for $40 that's a good find (he's at least $90 here in the UK)!

As for Mark Brooks, he drew an arc of X-Force back in '11, but now I think he mostly does covers rather than interiors.

agreed, might not see one for a while thinking about it , though the way spider waves have been developing he might show up

Not really outside of Silver Surfer and man am I disappointed in that Surfer. He was not worth the $25 I paid for him. The joints are loose, the head is too round, and the board's asteroid base arm likes to flop over, making Surfer fall off the board.

He really could have used ratchet joints.

kenm2474 01-17-2016 09:48 AM

^I have that one and the head always looked too Alien too me. I have savage surfer which I think looks great his head looks better more human like.

Except the savage Surfer is ugly as **** and not his standard look.

God I really hope Hasbro does a new Surfer sooner than later. I mean, I'm glad I got the one I did because the Howard the Duck piece is cool and I do like that the board is magnetized to his feet, but he falters in other areas. As such, he is fine for a temporary choice.

Mark Brooks only seems to do covers now days. He did the covers to Fearless Defenders and Ant-Man as of late and both books were good.

Before that he had a small stint in Uncanny X-Force, I remember him drawing AOA Jean and the figure that was based on his look.

I think there are a ton of great artists these days and Marvel not taking the conventional guys DC uses lend themselves to better stories as they set tones better together. Perhaps it could just be my tastes but Stuart Immonen is the greatest guy out there right now and others like Valerio Schiti, Sara Pichelli, Mahmud Asrar and David Marquez are right up there.

I will say, guys like Kirby, Bryne, Romita, Buscema, Adams and the often forgotten Sienkiewicz are untouchable greats. Byrne alone was a beast pumping out multiple titles and handling the writing and art of FF, Alpha Flight and the classic Sensational She-Hulk.

Yeah....I noticed that I had seen tons of one shots of Mark Brooks artwork recently, but never any full books. His name came up as the comic that came with Doc Ock had him featured as the primary artist, and I was reminded of his work from Ultimate Spider-Man. I really like the way Jean and Logan look on that page you posted.

It's an art shot, but since she was just released as a Marvel Legend, I thought that I'd share this cover he did of Spider-Gwen, which I really happened to like.

I should have been more descriptive, as I should have realized that not everyone here was into Marvel Legends during the Toy Biz era.

Doc has psuedo ratchet joints in the legs, elbows and knees, as they click into place as you move them. He has the traditional ball joints in the shoulder which could turn into helicopter arms after a while, but they are nice and tight at the moment, and since I don't play or pose figures as much as I used to, doesn't worry me. He is also constructed of a harder plastic, nothing like the gummy stuff that Hasbro uses now, so he doesn't warm or bow as easily under his weight. He just feels sturdier in the hand overall.

I'm going to have to agree with you guys with more of spidey's foes.....

We are still in need of quite a few of them. while my spidey foes shelf is nearly full of all the characters i have bought since last years waves. we still need a few

1 electro - NON Jamie foxx verison
2 shocker
3 Doc Ock as mention above by everyone
4 lizard
5 new green goblin perhaps
6 sandman -
7 hydro man - im sure they can probably use the same version they used for the 3.75 inch line just make them larger to legends scale.

I would also like to see a new tarantula figure. i had one from years agp, possibly the animated series line but i think this guy needs a new figure asap.

the list goes on....

There's also Vulture, Mysterio, Kingpin would most likely end up in a Spidey wave, Scorpion, Tombstone...

And that's just classic Spidey foes. There's a whole slew of other more recent villains as well. I'd really like to see Overdrive (along with a new Shocker) so we can round out the Superior Foes of Spider-Man.

Boy Blunder 01-17-2016 01:36 PM

Supposedly we're getting a new Shocker (and Electro) in the next Spidey wave...

I REALLY REALLY want a Tombstone figure! Stegron would be a nice Build a figure and I'm sure they could squeeze in Typhoid Mary somewhere (Even though shes a Daredevil Foe)

donmeca2020 01-17-2016 01:51 PM

i guess as long as they keep making spider-man figures and figures of all of his foes, i will keep buying.

Reptil 01-17-2016 04:17 PM

Damn you guys go way off topic big time, why are you guys spending 4-5 pages talking about artists and comic books in a Marvel Legends thread?? Create a page for that discussion please, it's killing my interest on coming to this thread.

Boy Blunder 01-17-2016 06:52 PM

>talking about comic books
>Marvel Legends

I mean, you're not wrong, but...

Why would you even be interested in Marvel Legends if you don't care about the comic books even slightly?

We're talking about comics because that's what these toys are based on.... maybe stamps or coins are more of your thing.

There's a huge difference between a comic book collector and a toy collector, I like reading comics but I don't collect them. I also don't read every single Marvel comic that's out there. I don't need to read comics to love Marvel Legends.

Maybe you should stay on topic next time pal. If you want to talk about comic books make a thread and talk all you want about comic books it's not that hard. Just because I collect ML doesn't mean I have to be a huge comic book fan as well.

Your not off to a good start here "Pal"... maybe you should think before posting comments. everyone was all aboard the topic but still legends were in discussion. If you don't like it tough cookies.

Kirathis 01-18-2016 12:32 AM

Easy there guys, no need to get heated. This is most definitely a Marvel Legends thread but discussions often tangent for a bit before coming back to the main subject of the thread. Artist discussions often creep up out of citing examples of specific looks we want or do not want for a figure. No harm, no foul.

Boy Blunder 01-18-2016 12:40 AM

Okay, let's not get all 'forum police' here. Keep in mind that, sure, you can enjoy the toys without being a comics fan (hell, I can't say that I've ever read a comic with Tiger Shark in it, but I love the figure), but there's gonna be a lot of people who do read the comics as well as collect the toys. And given that comics (and films) are the source material for these toys, we're gonna talk about that too.

Topics get derailed a bit sometimes; that's the nature of forums. Did the topic get abandoned? Nope. Things always swing back. So ease up, and chime in when it's back to talking about the topic. Because going off about it being off-topic (especially when it's swung back) doesn't really add or help, and kinda does the opposite (as evidenced).

So... feel free to interject your thoughts on the topic then, amigo.
