it's the only one in the entire line with a clear stand. The only other variant stands are of course the different names. On the side of trivia, Iceman's name on the card is iridescent :)

Interesting. I opened mine up to send out to one of my Canadian friends, and realized that it was clear. I can't believe I didn't notice that before, and it looks cool in hand. It gives the figure more character too.

Jason Abbadon 01-01-2012 09:09 PM

Yeah- I've spoken of it a few times- how cool is that? He's the only fig that will ever have a clear stand- one more reason he'll be sought after in years to come!

Yeah, well, I decided to part ways with mine. When I bought it I had found it in the wild along with another, and bought them both. The other one was a gift for my best friend (he has two walls of his apartment dedicated to MU).

behindthemask 01-01-2012 09:27 PM

And the other 1 will be arriving to me, yay! can't wait just need some flight stands, and not sure if I want to get a 3rd to make an action sequence, but either way will be enjoyed and not abused!

A kingly gift!
One day you'll have to casually remind him how his now hundred dollar Doctor Starnge came from you...:p

If it ends up being worth $100 I'll shit a giant LEGO man.

Jason Abbadon 01-01-2012 09:43 PM

Well, I've seen color Vision gor for $75 on ebay- and that body sucks.

Doctor Strange is an incredible figure- and the astral version is even cooler- love them silver eyes, man!

Really though, if Darkhawk happens, that'll be the crazy rare one!

One Per Case: Marvel Universe - Wave 17 (or, Attack of the Repaints)

http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/...erseWave17.jpg

Great review, I totally agree with everything you wrote on there.

Jason Abbadon 01-01-2012 10:10 PM

That was nice review- I never had that SDCC AoT Thor and was suprised at how corpse-y his skin looks! The new version's fleshtone is far superior!

True on the skin tone, but I still prefer the SDCC because of the darker colors on his costume. IMO of course =)

behindthemask 01-01-2012 10:23 PM

I also just read the review, well done and I do agree with what you said, I think we're all on the same boat the reusing molds and repaints are great if they're done well, if you reuse everything old and make no effort to improve then it's not really a great quality of a toy company.

Jason Abbadon 01-01-2012 10:24 PM

What's with that SDCC hammer anyway? Smooth and black?!?
Damn strange.

That new Thor is worth buying though- get him and an extra Sub Mariner and you'll be aloincloth and knife away from Ka-Zar!
Just get one of those PVS smilodons you see at Michaels and you're rockin' the Savage Land!

Especially since Hasbro is one of the biggest toy companies in the US. I just looked at my Monopoly board game and realize they make boat loads of stuff!!!

FallenOne 01-01-2012 11:16 PM

Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed the review. My review of the new comic packs will be up tomorrow morning as well.

I still prefer the SDCC AoT Thor over the new release, but yeah, I didn't notice how corpse-y the paint wash made him look until I stood him next to the new version. It's like Zombie Thor.

Exodus 01-01-2012 11:39 PM

Throwing this out here cause I couldn't find it in the B/S/T. Any one have a MU MOC Hobgoblin? Thanks!

Nice! That figure makes me almost wish they'd just re-release it as a gigantic battle!

Good luck, that strategy has never worked in my area. Hope it does in yours!

This is what part of my room looked like a few months ago:

Man, I just saw a series 2 Iron Man- the super scrawny one- at Target with revision stuff...then swung by a Family Dollar store to get a Thor and cap and while they did have two Thors, they WERE NOT THE VARIANT!

Freaky- it was the normal one with the more realistic colors- no blue hammer or anything.
