Technically Hasbro could make a repaint of that one in MI. Not sure if they actually would.
Black Widow on the other hand I doubt they would make those.
Could you get pics of the sides of those Black Widows to show off the hair?

Here they are... The short red hair for some reason was harder for the camera to focus on her closeup shots. Hope these help.

redfox 11-01-2014 09:20 AM

^Congrats on those grails!

I really wish we would have got that Yelena variant. I always thought that figure's head would make for a great Classic Sue Storm. Not a fan of the short haired Widow, though. Something about the hair looks off to me.

These are all just Family Dollar "sticker" ($8 sticker) variants. I just have to have them... The Captain America and the Thor though are actual color variants. I think I posted it a while back but the first Cap one is matte and the second one is glossy and the family dollar ones are a lighter blue version as well as the regular matte version,. Look at the last two close up pics for better reference.

I don't get how a store price tag can be considered a variant. Hasbro didnt put that there. Be careful or soon you will be going to every LCS trying to get carded figures with their store's price tag lol.

They are fine. I imagine we will get a movie version if AoU gets any sort of decent movie line.

The Avengers Hulk is actually bigger than the MU one, his head is just a little small.

Lol, I think it has to do with the fact that family dollar actually had 2 exclusives (made by Hasbro). Otherwise a sticker from any other stores would be insignificant unless Hasbro made them exclusives.

I traded SHIELD agents from the TRU 3 pacl and Blade for a custom BIG-ASS Giganto.... time to start building!!

I was looking at a Star Wars rancor, he might work for a giganto just paint him green. Walmart also has this yellow dragon toy for about $20, been thinking about turning that into a fin fang foom for a while now.

I suppose it could work but its a expensive piece to just paint green.. how a ring giant modded slightly then painted?

ukmu 11-01-2014 02:58 PM

a guy did that to a giant wwe figure on figure realm with a cast head from the one i am getting. The one is just an enlarged MASTERWORKS figure.... A new printshop just opened in my town centre and they have a 3D scanner and printer for public use for AS LOW AS £1 A GO says the sign. If it works out i can scan and print a few heads for modding a Ring Giant! Maybe send it to K-Dub or Voty to cast for you guys stateside.... Giganto's for us all.....maybe.

I imagine they will just repackage the IM2 one on a MI card.

there was also a KMart three pack IM2 Hulkbuster that was different from the single carded one

AS LOW AS..... is a pretty broad range. Most likely will cost an arm and a leg for a head. I will see once it arrives if it is feasible. The head is not articulated so it may have to be removed to even work. Maybe a partial scan and then print and cut and trim? I don't even know if it is possible.... guess we will find out. I won't get the Giganto for a couple weeks anyway. If yo Google image CUSTOM GIGANTO MARVEL UNIVERSE you will see it. The guy from etsy is making mine...it is just enlarged from the MASTERWORKS version, three part cast with articulated shoulders... next to it is a Roto Hulk super scupted over. Somewhere close to it is the wrestling giant figure one from figure realm. That one is more articulated, but how many poses can he really do without falling anyway? Also a bit muscular for Giganto.... I got a giant Undertaker for 50p though so if the cast head can be scanned and printed, I will make both..... updates to come.

@ky.... that one looks more like the upcoming movie one, the other looks better to me. Toss up.... depends which one is available when I am ready. Cheers for sharing!

@Iceman... if by AoU toys you mean gimmicky "BATTLERS" with squeezy legs and the mask pops up or 2" tub toys like we got from Guardians then we are all in luck!! ;)

Edit... one last thing! Finally got a new PC and our camera problems (should be) are* gone forever!!!! Expect massive photo bombing and some YouTube love VERY soon....maybe. it is 5:40 am and I pick it up at 9 this morning.... now to TRY and get some more sleep.

kylactus 11-01-2014 10:16 PM

also remember that a lot of the 3D rendering places will advertise 1-10$ scanning or modeling fee, then they charge for materials, rendering, and sometimes a very ambiguous equipment "usage fee".

Snowflakian 11-02-2014 07:18 AM

With the Marvel movie line up posted through 2019, I'm not too concerned about 3.75'' figures for now.

With all these movies coming up, I expect we'll see some of this scale coming back in again later. Right now it looks like cost cutting to save up for those bigger ventures later with self-created demand on them because of the drought.

The only downside I see to that, is the lack of movie Ultron himself, but maybe we'll get lucky with that later or in some form of exclusives or something to tide us over until later. Even so, as long as his movie figure gets a legends version, I'll be content with that for now. Cap 3 looks like we might see a lot though and there's still the possibility of 3.75'' multi-packs for AOU like they did the one for IM3. Preferably major retail chain. The new 3 marvel movies a year plan might mean hasbro is working out a way to better cover them later without having to do 3 lines a year for movie toys. Right now, it looks like they've scaled back to normal blockbuster movie patterns which is generally a temporary action, but maybe GOTG sold better that way than expected. With Marvel dominating the market though, we may see a turn for it to progressively become 3 lines of different scales. One for vehicles, one for GI Joe cross play, and one for Legends. Even GI Joe and star wars seems to be dabbling into this 2 scale line method some(3.75'' and 5-6'').

With a couple of the movies coming out probably not being heavy on wide character usage, this may prove beneficial. The main question currently for me was how was Ant-man supposed to carry a line when there's maybe 3 costumed characters in his film at most. Black Panther kind of has the same question, but a lot of his at least is alleviated by Wakanda and his family alongside the badguys. Captain Marvel may have something too due to the diverse nature of her history and the space themes associated. Cap 3: civil war I expect will have a diverse lineup considering who all is involved in it.

AOU with Pietro and Wanda not having real costumes yet(or at least ones that'll change over time, so you'd think they'd be perfect figure fodder for now), and other little aspects did create some questions, but with Infinity War around the corner, and more that's going to feature a large roster, I could see a lot being saved for that. Though I would really like a cinematic vision figure already too.

So I'm hopeful for now. It's a balancing act after all. They have to figure out what to produce now, that won't hinder sales later. I'm also still wondering how they're going to eventually get a Mockingbird figure out, and then there's also the netflix series too that may have some interesting designs.

Patience is a virtue though. So keep your fingers crossed! It's not like most of the bucks aren't already there. They'd only need some minor tweaking mostly and new heads. Ultron, Wanda, Quicksilver, Vision, and Ant-man are the only direct absolutely new sculpts needed figures for now until the next phase.

And with Phase 3 starting, I could see there being a massive push among the lines. Like a 3 pack warriors 3 movie thor pack alongside a 3 pack of him, Loki, and Sif. With Cap 3, there's any number of Widows they could do that really only needs her new hairstyle on the already made figure. Falcon maybe could use an update with a hinged neck. Panther was set to appear in it, so maybe we'll get a tease for his figure. And caps new costume tweaks may appear there too.

So we might have a lot to look forward to, it's just a matter of when.

ChuckSass 11-02-2014 08:37 PM

does anyone know where one can find that IM2 Black Widow that was popping up a while back?

uberlad 11-02-2014 09:11 PM

While I don't fault your logic, I lack your confidence. Maybe MI needs to disappear for a year or two entirely before a big resurgence.

There's no doubting the potential over the next few years from both Hasbro and Mattel. As a consumer, I just hope they don't squander it.

Kernel 11-02-2014 09:21 PM

I wish they would have made the cockpits big enough on the GOTG ships to fit the MU figures, even if it wasn't quite in scale.
@ chucksass sometimes searching for "undercover assault black widow" on eBay works when they are available. I wish they would release that IM2 set here.
Speaking of marvel movies I saw nightcrawler this weekend... What a misleading name! No sign of the blue elf Kurt wagner... But not a bad movie.

ukmu 11-03-2014 07:52 AM

huh huh huh.... bigger cockpits.

K Dubious 11-03-2014 09:41 AM

I updated my setup with all my Thor and Ironman Movie figures. I was inspired to get all my loose figures on display after I finished the video. I figured I already opened them might as well get them on display. I had already posted one image of my original hall of armor so here is the updated version.

This is prior to drybrushing the whole thing silver. I had to make it smaller than the original but I really like the way it turned out.

Well, with the holidays coming up. It should cause the slowed cases to hit shelves pretty fast, and then next year should start hopefully a bigger push as shelf space opens up. So next year's SDCC and toy fair will hopefully show a lot.

Toys R Us having a massive marvel section now with moving product means retail support is there for the large part. It's just a matter of them reaching the shelf now. I don't want MI going on any kind of major hiatus though. If it does, the likelihood of it coming back is lower. I'd rather they find a way to keep it on shelves in way or another if even through multipack exclusives for a bit. I'm hoping with all the movies coming up and with how much product Hasbro already has that can be reused because it was barely on shelves to begin with means we'll see some 3 packs or other re-uses. It'd be nice to have another chance at the warriors 3, Sif, Heimdal, Odin, Hydra, Destroyer, and more. I'm really hoping we'll see some kind of 3.75'' combined line because there are a lot of figures that need coverage and a lot that could be re-released to get more out of the previous molds. Even Winter Soldier could have his figure re-released with a new head. It's not like they haven't shown they can't do this. Avengers Assemble did really well with that in making the newer costumed Clint Barton from the movie figure. Same to Widow which replaced my old Black Widow in my comic Avengers display.

With the Assemble toon and Ultimate spider-man toon being so comic and movie influenced, if we're really lucky, maybe Hasbro will consider doing more like that. It plays to their favor on recognition and still gives us the figures we want in the style we want. In some cases it's made for some great figures too! Plus Destroyer is comic and movie accurate plus regularly featured in the toons too. So all around it works out for best mold usage while still marketing to the shows and the comics together with a dash of movie stuff. (Movie Loki is toon Loki too.)

Agreed

ukmu 11-04-2014 08:15 AM

First.... wow! Even better K Dub!!!!!!!!

Second, I have.seen on the Facebook groups that Leader is at ROSS for $4.99 along with the whole Avengers cartoon (second cartoon anyway) line.

ukmu 11-04-2014 08:20 AM

Starting work on the shelves here..... I am going.for.something like your HALL OF ARMOUR. Small scene changeable diorama. A lab for A.I.M. the X-Men by their BLACKBIRD, a whole HYDRA table top, an Avengers display of some sort, Skrulls, Thanos and Chitauri, S.H.I.E.L.D. on the Super Helicarrier...that type of thing. And of coarse now we need a HALL OF ARMOUR and each a little.world.on its own.
