D-day, awesome collection! those customs are amazing! one request, I see a 90's Havoc, and prowler in the background behind Sauron, could you put up a close up on those?

Just getting started on some custom work for Samsson

Just a random question for the gang here. What figure do you "play" with the most? I know many of us are too old to actually play with them, but my figure is super posable Spider-Man from the first ASM. I don't have him in my diorama so I often just pick him up pose him and let him surprise my girlfriend with goofy gestures and random places throughout the house.

Just wondering if anyone else does anything similar?

Kernel 11-20-2014 05:44 PM

I like that spiderman figure too but mine spent too much time alone and the right hand fell off.
I can't stop fidgeting with my AA black widow. I passed on her forever cuz I didn't like how the hair and head were one molded sculpt, but I found one at Ross for $5 and she has good articulation and can get into some nice poses.
I love doing customs too, but they take up a lot of time and at this scale there isn't much room for error. These custom pics look fantastic. For a split second I thought bloodshed was a custom night thrasher.

samsson37 11-20-2014 05:46 PM

I def grab figures and pose them !!!! Set them up in different scenes. i have a great excuse to actually do all out battles my 8 year old son !!!!! so we have bases and and tie ropes for escape lines etc. This newer generation has missed out on actually playing with toys, everything is video game this and app that..so to give him a taste of actually playing with lil plastic men on the floor and using his imagination AWESOME SAUCE !!!! Best example last time he was here to visit he put the pillows in his room down as a damn put a blanket behind them and tells me dad Namor is going to blow the damn and wash the town away.. I couldn't have been more proud !!!
And thanks Kdub for the custom/modification ..it looks like its coming along

If you are gonna custom some red hulk, the super articulated hulk body works good for it too!

Oddly the one I find myself messing around with the most lately is Deaths head. It's weird considering I'm not really a fan (the only exposure I've had to him was a brief appearance in an X-men comic when I was a kid) but that figure for some reason just really impresses me! the sculpt, the accessories, interchangeable hand, the cape/armor piece I find everything about it awesome (but if anyone can explain the "nipple holes" on his chest I'd appreciate it)

D-day, that Sunspot is awesome, but it just keeps reminding me of the most glairing failing of the entire line so far... BATTLE DAMMAGE! I remember the old 90's ToyBiz line having a lot of BD figures and I loved them! I desperately want a Spidey with a cracked eye lends, and wolverine with the classic ripped up uniform, and half torn off mask. Hell I'd re-buy most of the main figures if they'd only retool a bit of rippage and battle scars! (and no, I don't count two Punishers loosing there arms during opening as "battle damage".)

ukmu 11-21-2014 01:27 AM

I have been posing Showdown Beast...LOVE him! My son has been playing with Thanos and ML (baf) Galactus the most lately.

Those "nipple holes" are present on Colossus too. They aren't deliberate for the design, they're so the soft plastic armor/clothing bits can plug in for a more snug fit on the figure. Gluing those pegs into the holes would allow for separate pieces to stick as to enhance detail, this could also fail as it did with my Colossus. The peg was glued but not placed entirely into the hole so his upper torso bit clearly has a gap between itself and the lower body bit, upsetting but not ruining of the figure either. Mister Sinister probably has them too since he is also on that buck.

No kidding man.

Battle damaged spiderman is like a mainstay in the comic, and I had and loved that toybiz version.

You would think, Hadbro would have tripped all over itself to jump at the chance to make one!

It has every element that Hasbro loves!!!!!!

1. Re issuing a previously released figure
2. A simple repaint
3. No need for actual quality control since any paint error could be chalked up to more battle damage

It's the Hasbro version of a grand slam(baseball term for when someone hits a home run with the bases loaded) !!!

But they never bothered to even swing.

Super articulated Hulk is from the Edward Norton Hulk movie.

It features my second least liked feature on action figures behind the ab crunch, ball jointed hips.

Despite the name, the articulation isn't all that great, but, it's good enough for posing, and it's the only figure available that can be used in your display that actually looks correctly sized. But it needs customizing because the headsculpt is terrible (head, neck joint and paint).

So Looking at that pic I wanted to post some heights of Marvel characters and then let some of the math guys on here talk about scale..What hulk is the best to use.
Marvel Handbook
Thing 6'
Thor 6'6"
Thanos 6'7"
Omega Red 6'11"
Colossus 7'5"
Ronan 7'5"
Hulk 8'
Juggernaut 9'5"
So going buy scale in figure and these sizes what figures that we have available should we be using...

jedirulz123 11-21-2014 10:54 AM

Has anyone thought of doing an Abzorbing Man where he has that thing that Stormtroopers used to have where you put water on it and a blast mark would appear, except all over his body?
It might look better than the partial metal Creel.

Really just the Hulk that you like the most for whatever reason you like it. According to the Marvel encyclopedia (updated and expanded for 2014) Hulk is 7' tall, and according to the Marvel-wiki he ranges from 7'-8' as typical Hulk. Just like the Moon Knight figure uses the original muscle-built body which is one of the shortest bodies of the line, but he's 6'2" according to everything. Wolverine is usually 5'3" making his figures typically too big. The scaling on these is out of order, but they're generally close enough with the idea that Hulk, Apocalypse, Thanos, Omega Red, Abomination, etc. are bigger than the other guys even if they don't match the scale of a fictional universe. Personally I use the Hulk from the collectible comic shots version because I like the sculpt/pose and paint and he still comes off big enough to be Hulk, but you can really use whatever you want. 12" jumbo Hulk with your 4" MU figures, why not?

I get what your saying, I was more thinking the compatability way.
Like the toybiz Juggs that had the light up hand...if going by size...then the size of his figure would be about right ? Right ? The same as if ya grabbed the Ronan from the silver surfer series..etc Personally I like the MU Hulk, Thanos , etc figs at their height...I just notice so many ppl use different ones so just getting a idea if you used a massive hulk would you inturn use a ML Juggs ...am I making any sense lol

I could see using a Legends Hulk or Juggernaut without having the other be that size (maybe Hulk's super pissed off so he got huge), for me though I have a weird sense of not mixing companies for my Marvel display. I'll mix lines (like throwing in XMO and Avengers figures with my MU) but I wouldn't use a Toy Biz legends to represent a larger character, however if I had a Hasbro Legends of a larger character then I'd feel okay using that. We all have our own idiosyncrasies to our collections.
