For example, the A-Team movie toys. Face Man gets released wearing a suit. Line dies after only one wave (which included Face). Quote:

I did forgot about Unmasked Doom being sold at NYCC, but calling that Doom "released" because of it is open for debate. Personally, I won't call it released until it is available to the public with the purchase a new digital subscription (as Fury and Angel were before him) or sold at regular retail. My guess is Hasbro/Marvel are holding off on using Doom for the new sub figure because AA is still generating steady sales. They will probably want to wait until sales slow down before changing it so they can boost them back up again. And just to emphasize the point, this theory is in no way backed by any sources, confidential or otherwise. I'm just cynical and jaded. |

Has anyone considered that like the Avengers EMH being replaced with a more movie branded version. Maybe they just have some marketing campaign that alines Marvel figures as Avengers. And that association will increase sales. In theory... I mean how can you not have a dedicated toy line when you have properties all over the place. Movies, comics, and cartoons. There has to be something to fill that void. So will just have to wait and see.

The Free AA Figure with digital sub expired 1/31/2012. The Unmasked Doom is branded "Marvel Digital Comics."
I would think its only a matter of time before they start to offer it... |

Mattel sees things differently.
3 3/4" = Children 6" = Collectors As nice as it would be to have a DC Universe 3 3/4" line, it won't happen. Heck maybe now with MU kicking the bucket [so I hear] it leaves a door wide open to take the comic book hero world of 3 3/4" figures. Aslong as they aren't canceling Gi Joe, I am happy. |

Also, those of you sad about Spider-Men in 3.75" not having great articulation, I submit to you the Ultra-Posable figure that comes in the movie line. He doesn't even have a gimmick weapon! |

[QUOTE=Tiberius;312939]Mattel sees things differently.
3 3/4" = Children 6" = Collectors LOL,as if the barbie crew would know what their talking about,When toybiz were rocking our worlds with their iconic work,what had mattel got going on???the Metrosexual ken doll???hell id even forgot they had existed back in those days. |
Remember, Gi Joe would be their for barbie when Ken was in a drunken rage.

But that also give us a little insight on how much Hasbro is paying Marvel for licensing rights. Compare ASM figures with Retaliation figures, which are approximately the same price at retail. Both have gimmick weapons, but Joe are far more articulated than ASM figs (excluding UPSM). |

Cancelled.
People keep throwing this word around like it is actually happened, yet Curto, and our other gentleman have never once used the word. The line that I've heard has been "The End of the Line as you know it". This line does NOT speak of cancellation. It its a very broad open statement that can mean anything. Example : Today you went to the mall, and you visited the petstore. There in its cage is an adorable welsh corgi puppy that needs a home. your heart melts and you buy it. This is the end of the world as you know, because suddenly it has changed with this new element in your life. We do know, however, that it is a negative portrayal of this term. Somthing that is supposed to upset us as a fanbase, but it dosent necisarily mean cancellation. Kitbash is the term I keep seeing thrown around alot, but let me ask you, is Kitbash a Bad thing? No! Its not! because that 12 inch tall frostgiant that came with Loki? Thats a Kitbash. Thanos? Kitbash! every single female mold except for x-23 has been a Kitbash. its what Hasbro does to save money. Perhaps the news is that they will not be exploring new molds outside of the usual heads and webgear, limiting what we will get. But does that really limit it? Look at the molds we have! Black Spiderman Mold, New Hulk Mold, Old Hulk Mold, Juggernaut Mold, Shehulk Mold, Guardian Mold, Cyclops Mold, ect ect ect. these molds can be used over and over and over again to facilitate many characters and I honestly dont mind no more new molds. maybe the change is a general shift away from the more obscure characters, like Union Jack or Constrictor, for more A-B listers? This isnt bad, cause theres plenty of A-B listers who havent been made yet, just look at the x-men and avengers rosters or spidermans rogues. Or Maybe, its a shift to target more children, meaning limiting the articulation a little. No more rocker ankles or neck sivel and adding Bazookas and spring loaded gimmics. Thats not a bad Idea though. So long as the detail is still there, so long as they dont have Amazing Spidercrotch, Then go for it! I dont mind a limiting of some articulation. If they all have the same articulation as the basic Black Spiderman body mold then I'm happy. Or maybe they are just going to limit the number of waves each year from the normal 5 to 3. if it keeps it alive, fine. Theres always comic packs or boxed sets. And it gives them more reason to make the waves bigger. Or it could simply be that the insiders were fed BS information in exchange for a big suprise? Thats the thing about this rumor. We know nothing and can spend weeks argueing about what cryptic thing Curto said could mean untill SDCC. but when you look at the facts, its not dead yet. Theres no cancellation. It is still alive, just going to be changed a little if he is right. Changed in some way thats supposed to be negative but we dont know that yet. it could just be negative to his own opinion. if there is change, I'm rooting for Kitbashs and no Amazing Spidercrotch. Thank you. |
I'm sorry you last me after corgi :P

i'm just afraid it means a comic series line in conjunction with the ongoing movie line like an avengers catch all with its own catch all comic series which means low articulation figures. from what i gathered from curto's post is that it's expensive to make the figures how we want em and the people who were pushing for things we want were canned or relocated to another license's team. also that whatever this change is, it's not going to be limited to just Marvel product. maybe not cancelled but turned into something we may not want.
