Anyhoo, new season of Supernatural apparently started. Made me sad to see a clip for it at the end of my Flash recording. That was my all-time favorite tv show for the first two seasons. Every episode was like a 43 minute horror movie. And then they stopped doing "creature of the week" and suddenly every villain was just a bunch of old white guys in suits. So lame. I roughed it out through the end of season 6 because I still liked the comedic episodes they do a couple of times per season, but I couldn't take it anymore after that. It devolved to the point where the brothers would seemingly take turns dying each season, and then getting resurrected at the beginning of the next. Now I guess they just take turns becoming demons. They're up to, what, season 10 now? They should've quit after Jeffery Dean Morgan asked to be killed off. Still like the car, though. Bought the Greenlight diecast Supernatural Impala not too long ago. |

Talking about Tales From the Crypt, who else remembers Creepshow, the movies? These were basically the R-rated versions of TftC (Tales only had one R-rated film and its original film from before the show was only PG). The first Creepshow was written and directed by Stephen King and George A Romero, pretty neat movie and worth a watch from Crypt fans. I also remember Tales from the Darkside which was basically just the TV-14 version of Tales from the Crypt, some of those stories were really weird though and seemed like they wanted to have a moral but that's not what people watching the show were looking for. |
Demon night and bordello of blood were both R-rated TFTC movies. what Tales move came out before the show?
If you want a believable premise, and sheer terror, this is the best Horror movie ever: Shakma (1990) - IMDb The scariest part of the movie is the fact that the baboon gets an erection every time he attacks. I for one would f with a group of sharks before I mess with a mad Baboon wit a hard on. also there is evidently a TFTC movie called "Ritual" that came out in 2002 I've never seen it though. |

Ritual? That's the book that The Wicker Man is based on (the original 1973 is a horror classic, don't even bother with the 206 version unless you wanna laugh at Nic Cage running around in a bear suit). Never heard about any Crypt based version or film with similar title. If you like horror films and also like to point out all the stupid decisions and characters go check out HELL NO: the sensible horror movie on Youtube. It's only 3 minutes, but it's funny and worth a watch. I also recommend Tucker and Dale VS Evil as a sort-of horror comedy that plays role reversal, it's more comedy than horror. |

Don't know if anybody's said it yet, but The Hills Have Eyes was a great horror classic. We've talked about some classic and great horror films here. Now let's talk about the crappiest, almost so bad they're good type films. You've got yer Trolls 2 "they're eating her, and then they're gonna eat me, ohh my gawwwd!", Maximum Overdrive on concept alone, Shocker, was this even supposed to be a horror?! Manos the hands of awful, Squirm was funny-bad, Devil Fish was supposed to be horror but comes off as soft-core porn, Touch of Satan, every Syfy original ever (way to ruin the Wrong Turn franchise). |
^ El Santo y Blue Demon contra Las Momias De Guanajuato... Lmao!! Google that.

Priceless!

It's like Abbott and Costello meet (insert monster here), but instead with Mexican luchadores and the laughs aren't intentional this time around.

The inspiration for JAWS came from the 1916 Matawan Creek Shark attacks. A young boy (Lester Stillwell) was attacked by a Shark (likely a Bull Shark) in a a fresh water creek that flows into Ratiton Bay. The would be rescuer attempted to save him was also attacked by the same Shark. Later that afternoon another boy was attacked just down stream. The towns people began shooting guns and dropping Dynamite into the Creek and began using shark nets to capture the shark. Several days later a Small Shark (Great White) was caught with Human remains in it's belly. At the time several Shark attacks had been reported from Atlantic City, New Jersey to Mantauk, New York, the majority in NJ. This Animal attack still remains unsolved 98 years after simply because the Great White was tried, convicted, and found guilty because of what was in it's stomach and not on the true facts
