Got it!!!!, im guessing neither neca nor WB expected the popularity of this toy, i hope it will open the doors to christopher reeves and jack nicholson.

NECA has expressed interest in doing a quarter scale Christopher Reeve Superman (who is still the unequivocal best Superman) however to get one out in 7" scale it'd have to be part of the classic video game series or WB and DC would have to allow some sort of special release like this. Though this appears to be doing fantastic at the sales area so it's entirely possible they could do it with the Reeve Superman, but they'd do a quarter scale first.

^ I hope neca gets more licenses. I know you are a 1/18th enthusiast en Sabah I hope they do some cool stuff in that scale too.

Thanks for the info 305, I stopped by TRU on the way home today and got the figure and the blu ray for $24.99. I was able to choose between 4 figs and pick one with good paint on the face. The lips on one of them was a little janky.

Phantomcrow 12-08-2014 07:47 PM

It is really strange. The TRU website shows the regular Batman Blu ray, but if you move over the picture it shows the Diamond version and in the description it says the Diamond version????

It also says the item is not sold in stores???
So in stores it is the regular blu ray and online it is the Diamond edition??

So confused??

Features

Diamond Luxe Blu-Ray - 2 disc edition with new bonus material
Bonus 7" Batman figure in likeness of Michael Keaton
Action figure has over 25 points of articulation and comes with batarang and spear gun accessory

They did a Gears of War line in 1/18 scale that was pretty good, very good looking but less than Marvel Infinite pose but still good. I never actually got any, the only one I would have gotten was Clayton but it's not a big deal. However NECA has never really been about pose, the main thing is great detailing sculpt and paint wise. I think they should still keep to the 7" scale as their main area (it's around 1/11 scale).

Update on TA's front page clears some of this up. The figure and the diamond version is exclusive to the WB ebay page. The TRU version comes with the regular blu ray and the figure. Apparently the street date for the figure is tomorrow but some stores are putting them out early. Not sure why it says not sold in stores but people here on Toyark have been finding them. Just look at previous posts for this thread.

I'm not sure they were even aware the bundle would be available on toysrus.com at the time.

Here's a Tweet from Randy Falk from a week ago. https://twitter.com/NECA_TOYS/status/540016755578769409

I hate that I pre-ordered this on Ebay. Had I known that TRU was going to get these from the beginning, I would already have it in my hands and likely have a gallery up. This entire thing was handled really poorly by all companies involved.

EDIT:
I did contact Warner Bros/Hastings about it, and the figures were/are shipping out today to those who pre-ordered on Ebay.

It came out of nowhere, too.

We can't do a movie version! Wait, we can! Through ebay only! Wait, through TRU also! And their site! With a different blu-ray, though!

All within the span of... what, two weeks?

Pretty much, yeah. My guess is NECA was caught off guard by the pre-order and then was playing catch up after that. It didn't help that the Ebay listing was removed, re-added, removed again, store name changed, listed again.

juggernaut209 12-09-2014 01:28 PM

You can tell that this is a rush job, as the licensing is tricky and NECA needed very specific circumstances to pull this off. The Blu Ray had a hard release date of 12/9, and it takes time to get approval and produce a toy. This should not have been possible with Mattel's stranglehold on DC, I give NECA a lot of credit for figuring this out to meet the fan demand.

Nymesys Prime 12-09-2014 02:35 PM

We(TRU) got ours in last week. I got mine Saturdau as I was surprised we got them before street date. Its like night and day between this one and the video game figure release. Getting the movie was an added bonus.

jwyss234 12-09-2014 03:38 PM

Got a shipment notification from eBay this afternoon for the figure. Hopefully I'll have it by the end of the week.

305Batman 12-10-2014 12:00 PM

So I finally get around to opening mine and right leg snaps off at the knee, tried another store,no replacements, got my money back.I've been contemplating quitting collecting altogether, mainly due to disinterest in action figures in general, but this may be a sign to just stop!

Spoon 12-10-2014 05:13 PM

Got my confirmation email from TRU that the figure shipped today. I haven't had any luck finding it in stores. The TRU near me just stocked the NES version last week. Picked one up to leave in package. Love the music in that game.

Were action figures this fragile back in the 90s? I don't remember breaking any by just taking them out of the packaging or trying to move the arms and legs.

Superquad7 12-11-2014 04:24 AM

I totally didn't think this was going to be the fiasco it's turned out to be. The Neca RoboCop figures have been pretty easy to obtain for the SRP. Had I known, I'd kept up with the news and such a bit more. My wife actually wanted to get this for me, and not only was it sold out on the site when it supposed went up but our local TRU didn't have it. Ah well. Joe's right in that this was just poorly mishandled.

soundwavempl 12-11-2014 06:47 AM

Yeah, I missed out on this Batman as well. I could have ordered it online but wanted to try to find it in stores first. That was a utter failure. Here is hoping more will become available at ToysRUs.com in the future.

305Batman 12-11-2014 08:34 AM

I see no reason why they can't churn out millions of these!

There aren't millions of people who'd be willing to buy this and no store would be crazy enough to commit to that type of inventory (since this is a Toys "R" Us Exclusive). A mainstream toy that sells 80,000 to 100,000 units throughout all stores would be considered a massive hit with the company and retailers.

There are exceptions where a single figure can get close the million mark (or over it). But those are super hot, current, properties. Probably haven't seen it since the product explosion from the first TF movie.

305Batman 12-11-2014 09:13 AM

Figure of speech.

darthschroeder 12-11-2014 09:43 AM

So stoked, Batman was delivered on my friggin birthday! As far as I can tell, mine did not have any QC issues, but be careful with the cape; my copy's started showing a little wear after moving it around just a little. This is my first NECA toy and I am pretty impressed.

Welcome to the club pal. I've been getting NECA for just over a year now and not a single figure has had any disastrous QC (significant breakage or paint mishaps) and I freaking love getting them.
