I knew that Movie stop was affiliated with Game stop but never heard about a link to Go Hastings before. Thought it might help.

They did a great job on the AvP Aliens, sadly they are not on my list just never cared for the design outside of the context of Resurrection. As for the "clear" Alien. I feel they missed a lot of potential to bring Giger's image to life for that suit, instead they deliver us a figure of what he considered a failure.

It's a neat figure on novelty but this is how the suit looked very early so it doesn't really matter how Giger felt about it we're getting this toy now anyway and Giger kinda got his way since the actual final suit for Big Chap is basically his work come to life.

Just finished the last article. Awesome week. The alien vs predators figures are musts for me,I need updated versions and the first movie was pretty good. The white alien just seems to be needed in my collection.

I'm surprised you admit to liking AVP since most fans despise it (often way too much). I dislike it but I can list some reasons why. The arctic setting contradicts everything the Predator movies set up about how they hunt, the predators looked like 'roided up jocks who came across as clunky and stupid with all their armor, a single alien killed TWO of the three predators within ten minutes, and just in general it was a huge let down compared to the comic it was based on. Pros: the aliens were good overall as far as being aliens, the effects are good for the time and it was nice that many were practical, and it did try to be based on the comics (though it failed).

See,I really don't connect the first two predators with AvP. I see it more as an aliens movie. Love that bishop is in it....well kind of in it. Love the cold scenery as opposed to the jungle.when that pyramid was built it was not a cold climate but I feel the predators should be able to hunt anywhere any time. The fact they died so quick to me shows their youth and inexperience.Love the ancient aliens kind of theme as well. I like this film because it is so different from the others. Nothing will ever compare to predator. How can you beat a group of guys leveling a jungle in minutes? You can't. But for what it is, I love AvP. The sequel....not so much.

suchaname 01-25-2016 05:28 PM

Don't the AvP figs cardbacks say they're from a mountainous region IIRC? Though I've no idea if this is kinda ret-conning the film... I suppose there was no real way to explain it in the film anyway.

I don't mind the film really. I too was surprised at how quickly the Preds were killed off, but I think it makes sense because they were young. More random thoughts...

There were times when their bulky look worked, but not the majority of the time.

The special effects still stand up today, even on a crappy Blu transfer.

The aliens weren't just a rehash of what had came before, they were full-on speedy, vicious attackers.

The Queen scenes were excellent.

Most of the humans were a bit crap, though that's what happens with fodder lol.

AvP:R remains one of the worst sci-fi films ever made. And that's saying something... I really hope we can get an AvP film with real backing if you know what I mean. The chances should only increase with Predator 3 if it's a success.

Thank you for the info Joe! I sent an email to their site a while back, but I have not heard back from them yet. I don't do twitter but I may set up an account just so I can ask them about a replacement.
I know that DC Collectibles has been cool with sending people replacements in the past and I didn't know if NECA was game to do that as well.

Yeah the NECA bios say that these guys come from a cold mountain region and that serves as a retcon since the first two predator movies made a point on how they only hunt when/where it is very hot, NECA saying these guys are from a different clan/region explains why they completely ignore the heat rule.

AVP:R may have not been good either but Wolf was one cool predator, he certainly puts the three from AVP to shame.

I've seen NECA issue plenty of replacements (not personally since none of mine have ever broken or been particularly messed up). Just last month there were a ton of people showing they'd received replacement 7" Superman figures because theirs initially broke. From what I've seen going to @NECA_CS on twitter is a much better way to get results than their actual website option.
