I was at work when it went live. Still at work lol. Will have to try tomorrow.

Same crap as last year. They need a better system. I am not play Matty collector games here. With toysrus gone, Neca needs very very happy customers on their site. I think we have all noticed the very slow news out of randy and company of late.

If it's in the cart you should have a few minutes for check out.

I agree that you should have 60-90 seconds to check out before items are removed from your cart.

Also it would be easier if Playmates would just sell a license to Neca to sell Collector Grade TMNT figures at retail. They wouldn't really compete with the crappy, kiddy figures Playmates sells because they would be too expensive for most kids and parents. It's not like Playmates is interested in that market and there aren't any TMNT figures at all on the pegs right now.

I totally agree, but knowing from previous purchases of the cartoon set, and the Mirage Foot set, I prepared myself by making sure my paypal app was ready on my laptop, and applepay was ready on my ipad, so everything would auto-fill correctly.

If I had to use a desktop and type all my info, I'd never get a set because of nerve damage in my right hand.

juggernaut209 06-06-2018 10:59 AM

I hopped on at 12:50 and started refreshing, because they came up for sale at 12:55 at least one day of the sale last year. I managed to snag a set, so I am relieved. I have wanted these figures for so long... I almost bought the 1/4 scale versions because of the beautiful sculpts, but I just don;t want figures that big. These are a grail for my collection.

I might have bought Hawkins but was not going to risk going back and forth. I used Paypal and was able to do it, sorry for those who missed out. 2 more days!

Honestly, I was shocked. I put them in my cart as each item popped up, since they were staggered. Maybe that helped. I was waiting for one of the Turtle sets to become sold out while I was checking out, but it never happened. Plus, I had everything filled out and PayPal logged in beforehand.

SiDCrAzY 06-06-2018 11:44 AM

I managed to get a set of the non diorama ones. So happy.

adcatalano 06-06-2018 11:55 AM

I got 2 figure only sets. Felt like I did a lot wrong at the end but luckily everything went through. So relieved and happy to get this

djblizzard 06-06-2018 01:25 PM

I added it into my cart as soon as it popped up on the site, but a PayPal glitch meant it was sold out before I could complete checkout.

I'm hoping I can grab one over the next couple of days. Though if I can't, there's plenty up on eBay already for over twice the cost...so there's that.

Dolemite 06-06-2018 03:10 PM

The only NECA exclusive figure I would even consider getting this year is Hawkins, and I don't even care so much about him. I logged into the site at about 1:10pm today mainly out of curiosity, saw Hawkins was already sold out, and didn't care. I probably won't even check tomorrow.

I mean, if we're never getting Dillon or Blain, why would I want the Pussy Joke guy?

We sure have. It's more than obvious that TRU's closure has hurt NECA in a very bad way. Hopefully they can bounce back with some new retailers...if not, they're in trouble.

Black Arbor 06-06-2018 03:31 PM

Love the people verbally fellating Randy Falk and Co. on Twitter, saying that anyone complaining about the problems with ordering is just being a hater... Here's an idea, NECA: how about when someone puts an item in their cart, they have 5 minutes to put in their payment and shipping info, THEN it goes back into the store if the person hasn't paid!

SpasticPlastic 06-06-2018 03:35 PM

I've been thinking about what I'm going to do to get my NECA fix. BBTS is super slow on getting NECA stuff in. Like, 3 weeks after the calendar says it's shipping. Dorkside gets their stuff faster and is comparable in price, but they don't get everything. I know they are trying to find new retail outlets, but I'm not going to drive all over town searching. I'm thinking I'll just start ordering everything through NECA's eBay. Shipping is a bastard, but it may be the only way. At least for me. I'm too old and impatient for "the hunt".

Exodus 06-06-2018 03:51 PM

At least they give you 3 days to try and order these...unlike other places where it's 1 day only...

Struggler 06-06-2018 04:45 PM

This is a response from neca to a collectors group regarding todays items being sold out in less than 5 min:

NECA RESPONDS TO TMNT EXCLUSIVE DAY 1 SELL OUT - AFJ EXCLUSIVE | Action Figure Junkies

I hope I can get one tomorrow. I'll make sure I'm logged into the website and paypal beforehand and start checking from 12:45-12:50pm

I fully agree. Playmates Toys needs to sub license! They aren’t making collector quality TMNT figures, and even if they did, they’d be crap!

NECA has been scouting a new factory I believe. Also, they have a HUGE new announcement regarding 2 retailers that will soon carry their product.

I love how NECA says this:

"In an effort to keep things simple and recognizable, we have used the same rules, FAQs and purchase limits for years."

That plan clearly isn't working anymore. NECA themselves announced on Facebook today that the TMNT box set literally sold out in under a minute. UNDER A MINUTE.

This is the first year in a few that I won't be ordering SDCC stuff from them (the last two were the Pam/Little Jason Voorhees set and Jungle Briefing Dutch, respectively), but I'd be fucking pissed if I wanted that TMNT set and it sold out in under 60 seconds. It's the digital equivalent of this:

Oh, really? That's very encouraging! I hope they're national chains (as in ones near me) as opposed to regional ones (that may not be near me). Looking forward to that announcement! Thanks for passing that info along.

I have to side with Neca on this, because demand on these was never going to be seen as fair. 5000 could be sold in San Diego alone, but they are splitting it up, which I believe is more than generous. If it were San Diego only, I wouldn’t even try. With this, I tried and got a set. If I didn’t, I was prepared to wait a year and get them on eBay once the fever went away.

Neca is doing what they do because it’s proven to work. Sure, it’s frustrating, obnoxious, and irritating if you didn’t get a set, but sadly that’s part of life when collecting.

I'd be interested if Gamestop became a new retailer for NECA. My only basis for this speculation right now is that on Gamestop's website they have a good number of new NECA items up for pre-order. Gamestop used to stock their online store with NECA stuff but for a couple of years now they haven't so I'm wondering if the return of them offering NECA online may be possibly related to them offering NECA in their stores in the future. Other chains I'd be down with carrying NECA would be Target or Best Buy, they have each sold single items from NECA lately so I could see that being used as a foot in the door for more.

graphyt 06-06-2018 07:37 PM

I completely dropped the ball. Had everything in the cart was checking out and typed in my card wrong not once, but twice, and on my third pass I went to paypal and got the outta stock notice. But I'm hopeful for tomorrow.

Least I got my GDT I really wanted.

Gamestop/ThinkGeek has been carrying more and more toys and collectibles as of late...they had become the best place around me to get new Marvel Legends stuff, even before TRU went to shit. This is probably to help cushion themselves from the slow but sure death of physical gaming media, and if they're going that route I think carrying NECA stuff would be a perfect fit for them.

Target would be great as well, as they've also been carrying more and more stuff for collectors recently.

Barnes and Noble has also been greatly upping their toy/collectible inventory as of late. Who knows?

The only Barnes and Noble store in my area is a thirty minute drive away assuming traffic's at a minimum so while it would be cool for them to carry NECA it wouldn't help me.

SpasticPlastic 06-07-2018 06:00 AM

Plus, their prices are pretty nutso.

Dolemite 06-07-2018 09:42 AM

I'd pay a few extra bucks to be able to hand-pick my figure and not have to enter the online derpy-eyes lottery.

djblizzard 06-07-2018 10:05 AM

Got it! Sold out in a minute again, but I was able to snag one today thankfully.

SpasticPlastic 06-07-2018 10:07 AM

Just watched Day 2 for the heck of it. The figure set w/o dio sold out in 1:40. I also saw how many were available. NECA doesn't disclose, so I'll respect that, but it's not a very small number. The trick is to enter 99999 (or probably any number greater than 5000) into the quantity field and hit "add to cart". A red bar will pop up and tell you the number on how many it's possible to add. It's a trick I learned on the old Graphitti Designs website.
