Mattel looks like they got their act together with DCUC and now it's over...took too long, but Spin MAster is not an ideal choice.
Producing these figures are expensive. You need a certain order QTY to get a certain price point....and more logistics here but Spin Master does not have the reach of Mattel. I doubt you will see BAF's or even double joints. I just cannot see Spin MAster doing much.....I could be wrong but....yeah People want change, but not all change is good. I did enjoy MAttel's Tru Moves a lot. That I will miss. Such a shame, when they started to get good, they lost the license. No idea what is up with DC in general. Poor decisions, the DC Collectibles seems to be lost, they need to stick to something and figure it out. I loved DC Direct....but since then, DC has been lost on how to make figures. They keep switching scales and product lines and when I make a commitment, the line ends. I might just play it safe and only collect 1/6 scale stuff from now on. It will stop the heartache of starting a line, supporting it, and then having it end abruptly. |
Looking into them fuether I'm more hopeful. They've agressively expanded and developed multiple properties of their own. They have a third the sales of Mattel with 1/16th the sales force. They seem very innovative. Plus I didnt realize that Mattrl had the license for close to 20 years. Thats a long time for it to start coming together.
And as a 1/18th collector I cant say I'm sorry to see Mattel go. In 18 years they produced Infinite heroes and Multiverse which they never really capitalized on. As far as tron goes, i dont think the figures or vehicles were a bad reprrsentation of the movie. (Except Kevin Flynn. That face sculpt!) They just had a bad movie to work with. |
There were Tron Legacy toys?

I had some of those Tron Legacy figures and remember kinda liking them well enough. Some of them had a gimmick where the face projects on the helmet while the figure talks which I thought was cool...I'm easily amused. Anyway those came out almost 10 years ago so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they're going to bring their A game now that they have a high profile license.
As far as Mattel, hope all this ends up with them going back to producing MOTU and Thundercats figures. |
Sooo i can forget about that awesome starfire figure as well as that red hood one ?? If so that's disappointing was looking forward to those two and potentially that classic kyle rayner figure
