I'm excited.
I have Panthro, and Jackalman. So I'm very excited about getting Lion-O and Mumm-ra. Considering this line has its roots in the MOTUC/MattyCollector series of figures, I hope the toxic community doesn't carry over. It became nothing but scalpers and speculators who got mad anything got re-released because it hurt their investment. |
Scalpers being outraged about these re-releases might be my favorite thing out of all of this. Fuck'em.
|
I personally think these are the more collectable ones with all the cool add ons. I ordered Lion-o and Jackelman because I wanted more of them and just did not want to pay the scalper prices and these add ons make it that much better.

Doesn't Hasbro still own the rights to Silverhawks? It's one of their in-house brands I think (inherited through the Kenner buy-out in the late 90s) and isn't it part of their so-called "shared toy universe" plans they had a couple years back along with M.A.S.K, GI Joe, Transformers, and Visionaries? Sadly, if Hasbro thought a new toy line could make good money, they'd probably do it themselves rather than sub-license Super 7 or any other company to produce it. They are much more stingy about sharing their properties than Mattel is. :(
For other 80s toy lines, I'd really like to see Bravestarr done again. I always liked the look of that vintage line and I think it would benefit from a modern update in the Super 7 style. Those characters could easily fit in well with MOTUC and Thundercats in some kind of shared galactic universe. I think Mattel still owns the rights to Bravestarr and is currently doing nothing with it, so it would be great if Super 7 tried to license it as another toy line in the future. |
I think Silverhawks and Tigersharks are owned by Warner Bros. Mon-Star and the main good guy from Tigersharks had a small cameo on the 2011 Thundercats series.

How long will these pre-orders be up before they close them? I missed them the first time, but money's a little tight at the moment...
Edit: I see on the first page of this thread its 9/13, I should be good by then. |

With 16 figures we could get the main season 1 core characters completed: ThunderCats (Season 1): 01) Lion-O (Wave 1 - Re-Release) 02) Panthro (Wave 1 - Re-Release) 03) Tygra 04) Cheetara 05) WilyKit (Re-Release - could be single release b/c of hoverboard) 06) WilyKat (Re-Release - could be single release b/c of hoverboard) 07) Jaga (From Earlier Prototype) 08) Mumm-Ra Mummy (Wave 1 - Re-Release) 09) Mumm-Ra The Ever-Living Warrior Mutants: 10) S-S-Slithe 11) Jackalman (Wave 1 - Re-Release) 12) Monkian 13) Vultureman 14) Ratar-O 15) Grune the Destroyer (Probably b/c of Earlier Prototype) 16) Pumyra (Probably b/c of Re-Release - hopefully a retool of shorter stature, and setting the stage for the Season 2 - Super7 Year 2 ThunderCats) Somewhere in there they have to add Snarf!!! & Ma-Mutt!!! Maybe as pack-ins to the Kittens WilyKit & WilyKat ThunderCats has some awesome characters which can make the line last for several years! Good Characters | ThunderCats.org Evil Characters | ThunderCats.org We need a ThunderTank for sure and if successful enough Cat's Lair, Mumm-Ra's Tomb, Mutants hideout... |

I was SUPER excited about this line at first. I have a little setup that marries the best modern figs from animation with their classic vehicles. DS The Real Ghostbusters on display with a Mattel Ecto-1, NECA Animated TMNT with a Playmates Party Wagon, etc. It works nicely.
I was going to do the same with my vintage Thundertank and these figures look great, but honestly the price point has jumped the shark. I can't bring myself to support that kind of nonsense pricing for new figures anymore, even if "I'm an adult with spending power" now. As a point of convo, the first company I saw really go overboard with pricing was Sideshow when their Iron Man line came out. What started as statue quality 12" figs of Hot Toys Iron Man for $75 each (a premium, sure) became magnitudes more than that simply out of market greed and support. Super7 is great stuff, but BBTS has these listed for almost fifty bucks a figure - that's way out of reason, regardless of "scales of economy" and "sculpting costs" and whatever other justification... |

Looking at Mattel's ThunderCats and comparing them to my vintage LJN's, I decided I really wanted the updates and even kept them as an incomplete line after it's cancellation. With Super7's ThunderCats line continuing and using the same molds, I want to complete the line. The price is too high and if it won't come down I'll try to make it work because there are only so many characters to get... ThunderCats isn't a huge line like Masters of the Universe. Looking back mattycollector was expensive too with shipping per figure + taxes. |

that commercial is great.

Damn it. The packaging is pretty cool. Alright super7, you win I’ll order a set from BBTS.

All of those Stan Winston figure collections were great. I wish I had not passed on them.

I'm totally cool with Dan doing that, but I'm not in first grade, so it's hard to watch his videos and not feel childish about everything. I only watch them if there isn't another reviewer out there. Guys like ShitPrime have a really good, fast and consistent format. What matters most to me are comparisons, and seeing different articulation poses. Not necessarily the articulation "break-down" but actually posing it so you can see how that "break-down" culminates in poses. I've never seen a reviewer that does enough of this in my opinion. If the videos are at least formatted well it makes it easy for me to jump to that stuff and move on. I want my adult reviewers saying stuff like "this is total shit" and "hey look at the camel toe on Magneto, how did they overlook that??" Not to be dirty but to be totally and completely honest. Lift the shirt and pull the pants down on a figure so we can see that articulation. I'm not a child, I won't giggle. I want to see that articulation! Nothing makes a person feel more like a kid when someone censors what they are really thinking and feeling and doing. Thats what people do with kids alllll day loooong. My only problem is, that super7 used the glitch VCR overlay too many times in the commercial video for thundercats. The scan lines are good and the blocking is done well. Have a little artistic restraint. Lighten up on the glitchy overlays and it will feel more authentic :) |
april is so far away, thats half a year

This new packaging is way way better
