Why does McFarlane keep making these raised chest symbols? It's almost as if he feels there's not enough "sculpt" otherwise.

IzzyTipsy 03-14-2022 01:06 PM

DC 1000 is like the Bucky Cap buck of Multiverse these days.

Except most people liked the Bucky Cap body, or at least tolerated it haha

I'm confused. The Mafex HUSH Batman that just released is blue and grey.

The McFarlane HUSH Batman is black and grey.

Mafex is right, I think. HUSH Batman was blue and grey in the series.

More than likely there'll be a blue/grey single release, though it should be dark blue rather than the light blue used for Year Two Batman.

Probably wants it to pop out and avoid paint apps I guess. Personally I like most of them. But the smaller designs though can be iffy. A raised Superman S offers plenty of real estate. But on the Y2/3 Jokers Batman, that small symbol looks rough close up or prone to distortion. Part of that is using soft plastic vs a hard one.

In this case, I like it being raised on the Hush Batman.

Mafex has two versions. A Black and Blue version. Comics wise Batman wore black but they lit it like it was blue. Mafex of course understood there are fans in both camps. So they made two versions.

Now whether Mcfarlane makes a solo version in blue is unknown. If there was any time to double dip on Batman in multiple colors, it would be this guy.

Flark, you are absolutely right, just tried to inter exchange some guns between lines, and they look awful...

The Valaverse (Action Force) weapon set might work. They are generally a little bigger than 1:12, even scaling slightly too large for G.I. Joe Classified figures.

Id steeer clear of the action force stuff. From reviews ive read their stuff is brittle as hell and breaks easy. I know marauder gunrunners has some 1/12th weapons.

BarbaraGordon 03-15-2022 10:29 AM

Why not just get the guns from McFarlane's Fortnite figures or the Unmasked Flashpoint Thomas Wayne? McF's guns are going to fit in his figures' hands better than guns from any other company.

My first switcheroo was to give Omega (my version of Firefly) the same gun as Carbide (my version of Killer Moth).

Next up was giving the men in suits some heavy hardware.

Sure, Fortnite figures would be able to hold Fortnite accessories, but what about the DC Multiverse figures?

I don't like Fortnite guns because they have cartoon proportions. Which is fine for what they are.

Marauder's 1:12 stuff is small for Classified figures (he mentioned this in a Facebook post and it's true). It won't fit with McFarlane stuff.

I didn't know that Action Force's problems extended to the weapon sets. I thought it was just the figures. So I guess those aren't a good option either.

Well I have the Action Force stuff.

Mcfarlane - Uses a really soft plastic, so it if falls on the ground they
won't break. But they are prone to bending and going limp. Also very gummy looking.

Hasbro - A mix of both but then to favor the softer side.

Neca - Tends to go for a harder plastic which leads to better detail in my book.

Action Force tends to follow the Neca approach. The are a harder plastic which means the thinner parts are most like to break if it falls on a hard floor. They are more likely to break in a rigid hand.

But it's $15 for a good set of gear.

These in the pictures really aren't going to break. But there are like rifles with thin tubes that surely will on a good drop.

It's not stay away from them to me but just be care in handling them.
I found most of them scale well because they are bigger in the hands of the figures they go with which is kinda perfect for the Mcfarlane scale.

I don't know. Some people claim Valverse Action Force line is the worst build quality they've ever experienced while I say it's the exact opposite.
Some people are dismissed any figure where are dip in hot water for 5 seconds is the most difficult thing to go and a sign of terrible quality control.

Point is there needs to be accessory packs. I think telling someone to spend $15 or more on a figure they don't want, just so they can get a small accessory is a waste.
