I like the changes from the render, especially the front end!
https://i.imgur.com/2CqlFPm.png And add Batman & Robin to the pile of upcoming figures alongside Reverse Flash and rumored V2 Wonder Woman; any others I'm missing? |

If the OG Super Powers Batmobile is the '80s sports car version of the '66 Batmobile, then this is the modern hypercar version of the '89/Arkham Batmobiles. So if any of the components aren't up your alley...
It ain't exactly nuts to not like a dish if you don't care for one of the main ingredients, know what I mean? |
New Super Powers wave is up for pre-order on multiple storefronts (including the official McFarlane store) and shipping next month. There's a bundle for the whole wave at the McF Store that's on sale for $75 (that's $15 off the retail) and with the coupon code MTS10 you can get an additional $7.50 off.
Count that as the Invisible Jet for free, or one figure and shipping for free, but that's a pretty sweet deal in any way. :) Oh! The cardback show Black Manta as an upcoming figure! I assume he's joining folks like Green Lantern and GiggleBats as mid-wave releases since he's not in the bundle. https://i.imgur.com/WYE6mzm.jpg |

I truly do not understand why they didn't start this line with a superpowers deco Batman at least. I could understand peppering in modern characters but this is aimed squarely at those of us who collected Superpowers figures back in the day so I don't at all understand why we got a Batman Who Laughs or Hush Batman. Classic McFarlane!

That Jason Todd (?) makes me wish DCUC had delivered an Earth 2 Robin
Ahh, I see now that it's Tim Drake, not Jason. |
Merged in the Batmobile thread, will try to keep all the Super Powers news chat here going forward.

I should gather all my accessories in one spot, because I think I might be the only dork on the planet that has more c-clip capes than figures for them. I'm sure I've got extra Robin capes somewhere. |

You are also assuming that successive Batmobile designs were influenced by any designs immediately proceeding them. Which is false. They share very little in common. All you have to do is actually LOOK AT THEM. I don't like this car because the body looks squished, wheels seem too large, there's a huge hump in the hood (that doesn't seem like the figures could "see" over) and there are some last minute afterthought hard angle grabby things attached to the front bumper. I don't like this version because the design is just bad. It can't decide what it wants to do. This Batmobile and Wonder Woman's Invisible Jet look like Chibi or SD versions. The render actually looks a lot better than the finished toy. The harder angles blend more successfully with curvilinear lines in the render. Quote:

Again a second not that different from the first one Rebirth Wonder Woman in the 5 inch line.
Why is Todd ignoring the Fan demand for a 7 inch Rebirth Wonder Woman. She won't interfere with his gotta make 500 Batman figures to please DC. |
^Are we sure he's making many Batmen strictly as an effort to follow DC mandates? He did make quite a few Spawns

Yup, that's all hypercar stuff. All it's missing is some carbon fiber vinyl wrapping and even more fake plastic vents. Nasty, nasty things. But hey, the initial renders looked even worse with more of the totally rando cutouts around the front and a less swoopy windshield, so it could have been a lot worse. I think I can disappear most of the fascia and rear deck issues with a bit of styrene, and once that's cleaned up I can live with the rest.[/QUOTE] Well I guess I hate Hypercars then. So thanks for helping me figure that out. I liked the initial renders better. If you mod the shit out of it and it comes out nice I genuinely look forward to seeing it. |

That Wonder Woman package art vs the figure inside.
I've noticed this a lot, thicker women based more on modern day than past ideals. But when you are supposed to be making retro looks, why aren't Wonder Woman and Super 7's Scarlett, Baroness, etc...more hourglassy? Black Manta is still a Walmart exclusive it seems. |

That Black Manta is pretty much perfect as far as fitting in with the 80s SP line but, since these figures run larger, they're wouldn't be a point in getting him to fit in with existing collections.
|
I don't know why, but I keep hoping that there will be a figure and/or vehicle in this line that I GOTTA have. So far, ZERO. I think I'm better off just going after some of the real Kenner stuff. Sorry, todd.

And Jesus...An Office "meme"? Shitty as it is I think you can do better. Try again. C'mon! I'm rootin for ya! |
What's wrong with Office memes lol.

That Batman is the first McFarlane Super Powers figure I've actually wanted and pre-ordered. Finally has "the look" to me. And yeah, classic Super Powers Batmobile for me, had one as a kid, loved it. But I'm Gen X, it just looks right to me. The newer one has a faint "Homer-mobile" vibe to me, not my thing, but totally cool if it is for someone else. "Beauty is in the eye" and all that.
