More a homage to the 90s toyline from Toybiz. Though Whiplash is certainly from the cartoon.

She Hulk was probably thrown in because Hasbro figured "Eh it's a Toy Biz homage wave close enough."

Hasbro Marvel Legends Giant-Man & Wasp 2-pack. Hasbro Pulse exclusive, preorders go up tomorrow (4/9) at 1 PM EST. (I think that last slide has the wrong day?)

Pretty good Hasbro! You made two characters in looks that aren't exactly my favorites for them a 'must buy' with attention to detail, great paints, and copious accessories. This is the way to provide more bang for the buck for collectors and elevate the quality of your wares to pricing that is easier to accept.

warmachine6 04-08-2024 11:26 AM

So no white antennas for giant man , smh, they could have given us white swappable antennas

Harbinger 04-08-2024 12:25 PM

This set ill be getting. I love that wasp!

ghostbogey 04-08-2024 04:45 PM

The Wasp....
is a must!!!!...

The Ant?....
I know...
It is a set...

Wasp is great! Giant Man is ass. Its a half ass set.

WallySparks 04-09-2024 12:23 AM

so what your saying is that you would rather want Hasbro to make another frikkin Spider-Man figure when they done enough Spider-Man figure figures already like a dozen times since 2015 or whatever.

No thanks.

old school original Ant Man and Wasp is something good and nice for a change.

Wasp looks so perfect I'm not even going to complain about having to pay extra for a cranky white guy accessory.

Yes how dare people want popular characters instead of random nobody #9999999 who only appeared in one comic book from 60 years ago.

And have you seen how much the Retro Card and Renew Your Vows Spideys are going for? A basic classic Red and Blue Spider-Man should never be 50$ so clearly Hasbro isn't making enough.

Nice attempt at putting words in my mouth, but it’s clear what I was saying, and you’ve missed the mark as usual. I’d answer you more seriously if I understood the routine gibberish you type. Pro tip: next time, and I’m sure there will be a next time with you, if you have a problem with something Hasbro makes state your issue regarding whatever it is and take it up with Hasbro rather than whinging unintelligibly to someone that likes it. Enjoy your whatever it is you enjoy…

WallySparks 04-09-2024 07:26 AM

Excuse me, but have you seen the price for Marvel Legends Blob and the Colossus Juggernaut two pack on the bigbadtoystore website?

they're 79-80ish bucks each.

It took the better part of 10 minutes for my payment to process on Pulse. I've never encountered traffic like that for an “early access” release.

WallySparks 04-09-2024 10:40 AM

Its crazier over at the Mattel creations website whenever a Masters of the Universe Origins figure is up for pre order. Rokkon got sold out instantly which was crazy. same thing with Origins Syklone which I was lucky to get before later on in the day it sold out.

you want a certain figure when it goes up on pre order on Mattel Creations. Get it right away or else the figure gets sold out out of stock right away from other people.

Its insane. Day one if you're on the site at the right time then your S.O.L

Yeah, I saw you had commented on that on the Mattel MotU thread. However, I think I may have been mistaken. I ordered two sets and the charge has already been applied to my account, which implies that this 2pack is ‘in stock’ and live. I think the delay in processing was due to so many ‘live’ transactions occurring for the same product including payment and shipping details as opposed to a ‘pre-order’ that functions more as a placeholder for a TBD date.

I hate that type of "collector" so much. The type that bitches at people who ask for popular characters and asks for the most obscure shit imaginable for nerd cred.

Like yeah bruh we're all so impressed you googled Two-Gun Kid. /sarcasm

Exclusively catering to this kind of collector is what killed DC Universe Classics.

Lol Uhhh, I resemble that remark? At least, in part…Hell, or maybe in ‘most,’ honestly. I love obscure characters, but not because of ‘nerd-cred,’ whatever brand of no-prize that might net. I am also largely put off by retread unless it comes in the form of an additional heretofore unreleased look or a much-needed update due scale issues. All that said, what I won’t do is harangue and harass the wants/likes of someone else and/or the delivery of those wants. Why do such a thing? I might shout into the void (or at Hasbro) about the inclusion of Spymaster, Frogman, White Rabbit before other characters I would like to see sooner, but never at someone for getting something they really like. It would be hypocritical for me to dump on those characters and the people who want them, then extol Hasbro’s virtues for the Blue Marvels, Crystars, Master of Kung Fus, Morgs, Prowlers, High Evolutionaries, Psycho Men, Count Nefarias, and Fallen Ones that float my collecting boat. Neverminding the shit that I want added to the list. It’s all good..

Oh for sure, I know every character has a fan. This isn't intended to mock those characters or their fans but the contrarians and hipsters who purposely ask for the most obscure shit possible while talking down to fans of more mainstream characters to prove how much "nerdier" and a "true fan" they are.

deecee4 04-09-2024 06:18 PM

As someone who pored over the Marvel Handbooks as a kid I absolutely love all those deepcut, obscure characters. And as far as nerd cred, eh, I don't see any kind of scenario where buying a ML Crossfire nets me any cool points from fellow ML collectors lol.

Hence why this type of person is usually routinely mocked in fandom circles as a tryhard.

I feel like I really don't see that kind of guy much? At least, not anymore. Usually, even the most toxic person saying "why doesn't Hasbro make [X]" seems, to me, pretty sincere in their belief that character is deserving of a figure, even if they're vastly overestimating that character's importance. If someone's doing it insincerely they're usually not putting much energy or endurance into the call for the character, at least in my experience.

Yeah, I get you. Fanboys of anything are annoying. Sports, music, movies, literature, comics, toys - no one likes a know-it-all/gatekeeper and they aren’t fun at parties. Unless there’s loud music to drown them out…

The thing is, I also understand the passion behind fanboy-ism. Just like DC said, I loved pouring over the OHotMU, D.C. comics’ Who’s Who, or D&D’s monster compendiums, and have a metric shit-ton of completely useless info stored in my head. So much junk that when I talk about it with others that know, I gig out and likely sound very much like an intense fanboy-super-nerd. And I’m fine with that.

I guess the fine line is when it becomes a competition or feels condescending – something I can also relate to given my own love of deadpan snark ;) Basically, I give a good amount of leeway until I think someone is deliberately being an ass.

IDK man I've seen far too much complaining about "normies" "ruining" stuff by making it too "mainstream" for me to believe that these elitist gatekeeping pissing contests have gone away.

And to be clear, wanting less popular characters isn't the problem it's being needlessly condescending to people who like more mainstream characters that's the problem.

You hit the nail on the head. It's the elitist gate keeping pissing contest shit I'm referring to.

Sorry if it seemed I was attacking people who like less mainstream characters that wasn't my intent at all.

As for me, I'm just happy Hasbro has struck a good balance between keeping the A list characters that sell at retail available while also hitting deeper cuts for collectors.
