If they're smart, they'd make a glow-in-the-dark version of Spectre as one of the chase. But knowing McFarlane, he'd probably just make "Chase version of Superman with darker red underpants."

What do you mean it's a surprise? I thought these weren't being sold in stores?

Comedian 01-12-2024 08:00 AM

I’m really confused on the chase figures. Sometimes the regular version is what you want, so if I got an undesirable chase in my set I’m SOL.

they aren't being sold in stores. They haven't told us what the chases are. Gonna have to wait until someone randomly gets one or when and if Mcfarlane decides to spill the details on them.

IzzyTipsy 01-12-2024 09:07 AM

So "special edition" prices may increase. ie stuff like Wonder Woman which is special edition because it comes with that crappy card and card stand nobody wants.

Anyway, seeing that new ANimated Batgirl I hope they fixed the issue where the black rubbed right off her rubbery cape. Mine lasted a few posings and then it wiped out

firmpulse 01-12-2024 09:34 AM

Finally. Batman from The Adventures Continue gets a reissue WITHOUT cell shading. Here's hoping McFarlane gives us the Batmobile from that animation as well.

That would be great. But with it being a McWeb Exclusive it would probably be 60 bucks. Still pissed he was asking 55 (after tax and shipping) for Spectre.

Dude, grow up. Besides, everyone here knows you're all "Hasblo" and "McFartlame" until they make something you want. The second Todd makes your next favorite figure you'll be crawling up his ass to pull it out.

Ignoring the fact that most McFarlane figures are garbage, his 1990's mentality of chase variants and separate masked/unmasked figures is annoying. And I hate being that guy but at that price point a figure like Psycho-Pirate either needs the mask to come off or have an alternate head with a mask accessory. Christ, the card shows him with the mask off.

And on that note, a card stand is the height of stupidity.

Maybe try collecting all of your anger in one post. If that is impossible just edit your post and add to it.

AlienK 01-12-2024 11:05 AM

Action Comics #1000 Superman still has yet to be beat despite how many Supermen this line seems to put out, there always seems to be something off about them, be it a weird head, body, colour choice etc etc
And to be honest AC1000 Supes isn't even that good, since he has single elbows and is pretty short compared to most other figures in the line.

Wait, you mean someone might order say Spectre and then not get the Spectre figure they advertised? What kind of bullshit is that? Are they going to let the person exchange it for the figure they ordered?

I don't mind the card stand. I kind of like it. Of course, I'm the one who opened up all their Kenner Batman Animated series toys and figures, and then carefully cut out art from the boxes and cards - and then glued a cardboard "stand" to the back of the cut out art/piece as a way of identifying the figure or vehicle. Gives it some context in the display cabinet anyway. Much of the other Kenner boxes were cut apart carefully and I framed the art to hang on a wall.

And I love the Psycho Pirate figure - even more so than the Spectre figure. The Silver Age classic obscure characters hit the sweet spot.

Not sure how it works on Mcfarlane's website but I noticed some people who got the platinum versions of the collectors edition figures( IE Green Lantern Sinestro Super Powers Wonder Woman Green Superman Classic Colors Hawkman) just send them back to amazon and try and get the regular ones.

Not true. I havent picked up a mcfarlane figure since the price increase. If i find em cheap ( 25 or under ) yah id get em but over 25 no chance in hell unless its a mega fig then maybe 35-45 would be my cut off point.

deecee4 01-12-2024 02:47 PM

Capt carrot and chase are up on bbts if anyones looking. Clooney bats wave & wonder woman & chase too.

pikajew 01-12-2024 05:10 PM

Are those new batman animated figures any different than the older ones from years ago? Cause they look almost identical down to the outdated joints

That's fucking stupid. It's like, I bought a specific figure because I wanted that figure, not some dumbass variant crap.

Even worse sometimes the variant is the "Artist Proof" edition...which means unpainted. Labeled as Platinum Edition too. I understand they make them for customizers, but I'd be a little pissed off if I ordered a particular figure and received an unpainted variant.

I'm not sure if they still release Artist Proofs as variants, but I know they used to.

jayvee 01-12-2024 05:49 PM

The New Adv of Batman? Sign me up for Calendar Girl, and a Farmer Brown and his Daughter 2-pack (from the Critters episode.) I mean if Todd make make a DC Multiverse rabbit (Captain Carrot), why not the Farmer and his kin? I already have all the other figures.

But what about Batman Beyond? How about an animated BB Blight? Spellbinder. Anyone from the Royal Flush Gang, or a 5 pack. Curare. Amanda Waller.

That's what happened with the first run of Swamp Thing figures. More people were getting the unpainted one instead of the painted one.

The BTAS Batman has a new head. Instead of using the original body, it uses the body from the motorcycle Batman. All figures have had cel-shading but use the original bodies. McFarlane’s first wave uses slightly different color shades but the promo pics of the later waves look close to the original releases. They recently announced a new wave with TNBA Batman and TNBA Two-Face. The sculpts will be the same but the quality will be better on these two figures. The first wave from DC Collectibles used clear plastic for the joints and they were susceptible to breaking.

Cool thanks. I had a few of the older ones but never continued cause of how fragile they were and not a fan of the joint style. Least they are somewhat fixing the issues

Atomsmasher 01-12-2024 07:24 PM

I got the artist proof injustice green arrow. I was never more angry in ny life. I wanted to return it to demand a regular one.

I would assume because the Spectre and Psycho Pirate aren’t exactly big name characters.

Either way it’s a dumb explanation. If needing to do “2 chase variants” is a factor in this price hike, maybe don’t do them? I dunno. I’ve always found the concept of chase figures dumb, even when it’s an actual new character or costume and not just a gold repaint or one of those blank artist proof things.
