Probably going to see it, next week. Silly work.

Snailbot 07-19-2012 09:26 PM

Saw it today at 2pm (early screening) and now I'm going back for more!

LXL_Guy 07-19-2012 09:41 PM

3:30 AM for me.

solidwii 07-20-2012 01:50 AM

So I just got back from Dark Knight Rises. It was awesome! I felt it was the best of the Nolan Trilogy, yes even better than Dark Knight. Anne Hathaway pulled off Catwoman perfectly, much better than Scarjo as Black Widow. I always thought the missing part of the Nolan films was a strong female counterpart that could we could like. Hathaway delivered that in this film.

Now the threat this time was even more serious than the Joker was. Tom Hardy made Bane into this terrifying unstoppable force and someone to be feared. He was kinda hard to understand at some points because they were going for a Hannibal/Darth Vader effect on his voice.

There were a few slow moments but I thought the pacing and script was pretty tight and all the pieces fit together in the end. There were some poignant scenes between Alfred and Bruce that I thought showed off Cains acting skill.

The rising star of this film was JGL as John Blake. He was really the key character that connected us to Batman by provinding the window into the life of a detective and all the work that goes into fighting crime. There are alot of nice twists like all the Nolan films and this one kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Overall, I think it stacks up pretty well to the Avengers. Avengers still just slightly better because of the ensemble cast.

Now go out and watch it...highly recommended.

BTW, there were 6 rooms showing it, 4 of the rooms were packed so we had to go to a 12:15 showing but it was nice and not too crowded. I took my 4 yr old son who fell asleep halfway through the movie.

agree with solid, i might get flamed for saying this, but it was better then avengers, yea yea i kn ow u cant compare, but as far as on the edge of my seat! TDKR is so GOOD, bane took it home. better then heath in my opinion.

TheSymbiote 07-20-2012 05:47 AM

we planned on waking up at 8 am and then seeing TDKR at 9am today, but we still haven't slept so we kinda let insomnia win. So we'll just go see the movie and then come back home and go to sleep. Someone please tell us that even with no sleep we won't fall asleep in this movie lol

jaybird7072 07-20-2012 06:38 AM

Ya man just read that. It's fucking horrible that life can be so fucked up. Enjoy every min of life guys cuz anything can happen :-(

Dr Kain 07-20-2012 06:42 AM

I live right down the street from that theater, and that is the one my g/f and I go to all of the time. We didn't go to the midnight showing because I have a job interview at 10 today. I was woken up last night by the sirens, but did not know what it was about until this morning when my friends called me and woke me up. I want to know why they allowed the guy that did it to live!! He should be in the morgue right now full of bullet holes from the cops, not in a prison cell awaiting a trial.

So far there is no motive, but I swear, and I'm not making light of this situation at all because my heart goes out to the families and friends of all those who were killed or injured, but if this asshole decides to be a dick and says something like "The Avengers were better" like the way others blamed Marilyn Manson's music I will completely lose faith in humanity. It would be the sickest joke ever and should get him something worse then the quick release of a death penalty.

Wtf, he had canisters of gas too? A 6yr old girl was among those shot and killed. And what's up with Colorado and mass shootings?

EDIT/Update: He was a former graduate student in the Neuroscience program at the university of Colorado Medical School. He dropped out a month ago.

Also, his parents live in my neighborhood in Rancho Penasquitos, CA which is northeastern SD and a very upper middle class community. His dad was seen with luggage being escorted by police.

xhavoc86 07-20-2012 09:59 AM

Horrible news about the shootings. RIP to all those who passed.

That put a damper on my day.

LORD MARVEL 07-20-2012 11:40 AM

the youngest victim was 3 months old...really fkn sad.

jaybird7072 07-20-2012 12:06 PM

Exactly

jaybird7072 07-20-2012 10:49 PM

ENJOYED the dark knight rises very very very much,,, need to see it again.....

DogFashionDisco 07-20-2012 11:30 PM

I saw it again earlier. :) Bane was awesome, and his voice is exactly what I envisioned while reading Knightfall. I'm still not sure about some of the ending though, but I don't want to ruin anything, therefore I'll wait unto this flick is out a bit longer before discussing it.

ashketch 07-21-2012 01:39 AM

Oh boy, well my thoughts seem to be a little different than the majority here...

I liked the movie but it's not on par with the previous 2. There are a lot of things I liked about the film but an equal amount I also disliked. For me the only part that I absolutely loved was the end. The rest of the film was slow, dragged out and ultimately made you feel as if u were watching a drama with the batman characters forced in it. The last 30 mins is where I felt I was actually watching a batman movie. I never got the sense that batman was in a crisis largely because of the slow build up. A lot of the events were predictable and too simple. I felt more in danger of joker in the TDK compared to bane. Bane felt more of a shadow then anything else. Without a doubt Anne Hathaway and Joseph Gordon-Lovett were the more interesting characters and they keep u attached. The story, of course, is about batman and his return but the length of the movie is so long I started to stop caring what was going on with Bruce and cared more about the rest of the ensemble.

In short, before I get flamed lol, this movie was very good and a fitting end to an amazing trilogy but TDKR is clearly the weakest of the 3 films.

Torn Prince 07-21-2012 02:59 AM

I don't agree at all ashketch, I feel like this movie was PERFECT. I like it better than The Dark Knight, and I'm a huge Joker fan, but I'm telling you, I didn't miss him at all in this movie. Bane was amazing, as was Selena Kyle/Catwoman. It had the proper amount of drama and action, and had multiple twists that kept you guessing. I felt like TDK was better than Begins, and I feel like this movie is better than either one. It was well worth waiting what felt like so long for this movie. My only regret is, that there will be no more Nolan Batman movies. This was a fitting end to the trilogy though...perfect in every way. Oh yeah, and I don't care if I do get flamed, but it was MUCH better than The Avengers, and I'm a Marvel and DC fan.

CMIII 07-21-2012 05:42 AM

I have yet to see the movie I intend to go at Noon Sunday. I do want to express some thoughts on the Sad Incident that took place in Colorado.. To those who happen to know someone there or may have been there You have my sympathy and condolences. To those who read this and are trying to decide weather to go or not, I'm going to tell you what to do.. GO SEE THIS MOVIE... Do not let something some Psycho does stop you other wise he wins. And to this man Ok you got to reenact a Heath Leadger part well heres some news get ready for the second one except this time it's not The Dark Knight it's going to be a movie he made with Jake Gyllenhal and not Maggie

CMIII 07-21-2012 06:26 AM

is it true that Chris Nolan left an opening for another?

jaybird7072 07-21-2012 07:19 AM

the ending gave me some Goosebumps :)

ashketch 07-21-2012 07:57 AM

Well everyone is entitled to their own opinions. To me Nolan just ripped off the batman video games. TDKR was kind of a slap in the face especially since both batman and bane were capable of a lot more then what they portrayed to be. I felt as if Nolan felt he "had" to out do the events in TDK to make it too epic. As the movie went on the time frame of events did not make sense and with the scrutiny of time left it almost felt like Nolan just wrote whatever he wanted. Don't get me wrong, I did like the movie but it felt like a huge letdown especially since the first 2 were so much better and were executed with much more precision. U could tell everything that was going to happen in TDKR. To me, when things started to get worse, the events made less sense. I could point out all the moments I'm talking about but that would be spoiling it for others who haven't seen it. I get that it's batman and that comes with a great deal of nostalgia but no way is this the best of the 3. This one is the least "batman"esque.

FALSE! lol
We don't think the two movies could even be compared.
The Dark Knight Rises is dark and serious, while The Avengers is fun and comedic .
We think it all comes down to personal opinion and what you like in a movie.

We loved both movies
Loki was a great villain for The Avengers and Bane was great for TDKR
Catwoman and Black Widow are two similar....yet different characters that were used well.
