He gets hit hospitalized like 5 times. Definitely doesnt seem like a great Lantern.

It comes down to personality. As in, Gardner actually has one, while Jordan is sorely lacking.
It also comes down to strength of character. Gardner, since his introduction has grown a hell of a lot. To the point where he's become the first of only two Honorguard Lanterns, while Jordan is constantly under threat of being kicked out. (Jordan is soooo much of a maverick, even though he really doesn't do anything very out of line.)
Gardner started out as a sleezie hotheaded borderlined idiot. He thought he was hotstuff, better than the entire justice league combined. Cosnatntly hitting on every woman he could, believing that they were all swooning over him. Constantly making fun of everyone (Especially Captain Marvel), no one could stand him. One of Barbara Gordan's prized posessions she has is a picture she took after Batman decked him in the nose and knocked him out.
The other Lanterns couldn't stand him very much, either.
Since then he's grown a heart. He keeps up a facade of his personality, but he would fight to the bitter end for anyone. He still makes fun of people, but now it's more good spirited, the way friends will pick on one another.
The only reason he's not officially classified as "The Greatest lantern ever" is due to DC's statis quo of insisting that be the fairly lackluster Jordan.

The new GL cartoon starting up... the first half of the series loosely based on a recent comic storyline (Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors), starring Gardner, Kilowog, Arisia, and Bleez.

I never liked Hal Jordan, and Ryan Reynolds only made it worse.

My shelves are clogged with figures, but my Batman shelf (the best shelf, of course) currently holds:
Man Bat, Arkham Asylum Joker, Flashpoint Batman (Thomas Wayne), Arkham City Harley Quinn, Arkham City NYCC Infected Joker, DCUC wave 1 Batman (detective version), DCUC Penguin, CnC Bane, Golden Age Batman, AA Scarface, Batmite, DCUC Catwoman, DCSH Batman, DCUC Riddler, AA Zsasz.

You might want to clarify what you have read then. I much prefer Guy over Hal. If Geoff Johns didn't have such a hard on for Hal he would've most likely stayed dead IMO.

In that case...you might as well read New 52 GL. It contradicts my last statement about Geoff Johns having a hard on for Hal. Its almost like he wanted to prove he could betray his love for Hal and write him as such a complete bitch. Every other issue is Sinestro putting Hal in his place and pimping him out as his personal green lantern soldier boy then taking his power away when he's done.

Haha New 52 Hal Jordan: Sinestro's bottom bitch!

That sounds like a decent read.

Remember, the only reason the ring chose Hal is because he was closer. True story =D.

batsfan 02-23-2012 07:50 PM

thats cool man i just learned something about green lantern so if abin sur had more time and had not landed were he did we would not have a hal jordan for a green lantern. u know ur shit man i have a real good friend i play modern warfare with on line hes from canada and is cool as ice man

Tiberius 02-23-2012 07:52 PM

I am a Guy Gardner fan boy haha. To me he is the only interesting Lantern out there. Hal as Paralax was epic though. What system do you play?

Gardner is *definately* where it's at. Rayner and Stewert are cool, but more for support characters.
Kilowog and Green Lantern Sinestro rock, though. Hell... even Abin Sur is pretty damned cool in his flashback scenes, over the last few years.

Actually... Jordan is one of the least interesting characters in the entire franchise. Even Carol trumps him in badassery and coolness.

batsfan 02-23-2012 08:26 PM

i agree crazy j. even though jorden is the first human green lantern hes not that interesting though i did like denny oneal and neal adams take with him and green arrow back in the late sixties

Optimus Vader 02-23-2012 08:31 PM

I'm not the biggest GL fan, but always thought Sinestro was a great villain.

I keep my DC figures to a minimum, but I'm going to have to pick up that Wave 20 DCUC Sinestro where he's finally wearing his SC suit. So he'll go on my shelf with DCUC Keaton Batman, DCUC Arkham Joker & Harley, DCUC Riddler w/hat & cane, and & DCUC vs. MOTUC Superman.

Yes. Don't know why they didn't use the newer lantern. (Makes me wonder if the mold was damaged. It was marketed with Scarecrow too, but they didn't use it with him, either)

batsfan 02-23-2012 09:17 PM

Crazy!
Yeah I did, it was $5, some random Walmart was making strange intercom announcements about their clearance aisle (a temporary one, obviously). "Check out the area near Gardening, we're making deep discounts" so like a sucker I did....only I found Catwoman for $5. A lucky day indeed. That shit was very out of the ordinary. Normally anytime i walk into a Walmart all I find is regret.

That is the only place I've ever seen her figure in person too. It was weird.
