Like I said, good film. I'll probably see it again in a few weeks for a morning screening where it's nice and quiet. Then I can truly appreciate it more with how Whedon handled the direction of the film.

Full of teenagers? Aww man, my sympathies. Had that happen before, and yeah it was annoying as all hell.

If Batman succeeded in proving a comic book movie could be taken seriously with a more realistic approach to the film, Avengers did the opposite by proving you can make a successful comic book movie and have it still feel like the comic book, costumes and all and make a ton of money. It really is a wonderful time to be a comic fan at the theaters these days :)

Xcaliber037 05-04-2012 12:25 PM

Just watch it IMAX 3D. Amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed it...... E.P.I.C.

Seriously, it was that good. Hulk stole the show and his reaction to Loki got the entire theater to laugh their asses off.

We almost cried tears of laughter at that scene

HOLY BALLS WE LOVED THE AVENGERS!

We have 2 trigger phrases now that will cause us to slap the shit out of someones mouth
1-"I like Norton better"
2-"The Avengers was the best comic book movie ever................. at least until The Dark Knight Rises"

As much as i know dark night rises will be a good movie, I'm sorry, but the bar was raised so high with ledger's performance as the Joker that I don't think it will top TDK. It will end the trilogy, but there is already a lot of disinterest from non comic book fans for the Bane villain whereas there's already a lot of positive word of mouth going for Avengers.

I personally liked the Avengers better than TDK because everyone was brilliant. Not just the villain. TDK rises has a lot to live up to if it hopes to be better than Avengers. Not impossible, but likely it will come down to fans who just have a Batman/DC or Marvel preference that makes the difference on the boards.

If you're an equal fan of both, you can't lose!

I still wonder if amazing Spider-man is going to pull off any upsets. Who knows at this point.

Exodus 05-04-2012 03:40 PM

4 hours and counting until I see it....

Greatest Comic book movie ever it hit every note and I think I even saw the kitchen sink in the rubble where HULK landed

NoodleChow 05-04-2012 04:07 PM

sound was off till about halfway in so wasn't completely invested since everything sounded subdued like the music was too loud and the dialogue kinda muffled. but my god, once the sound was corrected and shit gets real... so good. gotta see it a couple more times for sure.

it's tooo laaate. will definitely see the movie again though. wasn't sure if it was a sound being off that threw me off but i felt the first 30 minutes were cut weird and there seemed to be a ridiculous amount of dutch angles or the hard to hear dialogue made them more noticeable.

went to TRU right after to maybe buy something and the browncoat cashier and i were gushing about the movie. had gone alone since plans to go with family or friends fell through so needed someone to mock shake fists at whedon with.

jaybird7072 05-04-2012 05:20 PM

So like jus saw the movie.. was blowin away.. loved every minute..

Iceman 05-04-2012 07:44 PM

This movie was great. Felt like the director got just about everything right. The pivotal scene with Colson, that badass Banner/Hulk moment towards the end, the ways he utilized characters like Hawkeye and Widow.

Only drawback was the group sitting next to us had someone getting up every 10 minutes and walking in front of us. Annoying but not the end of the world.

Plus I love that Cobie Smulders portrays Maria Hill.

I hadn't even known she was in it until last week and then I didn't realize how much until I saw it today. Enjoyed her scenes and finally getting the real shield up on screen.

Ruffalo nailed it. As much as I liked what Norton did I think he might have been too overpowering in this cast anyway.

Dark Knight and Avengers are just so different that I think they can be held up equally high but for different reasons. Saying one is better than the other is less like comparing two different cars and more comparing a high end car to a high end motorcycle. Avengers has set the bar for fun action comic movies.

BigHanksCustoms 05-04-2012 08:20 PM

So I'm happily eating my words after seeing Ruffalo's Banner/Hulk. I cannot imagine another actor portraying Banner again, outshined even Bill Bixby.

Every hero got equal face time, loved it. I'm very content with the alien army being a throwaway race, they were fodder for the heroes anyway.

Loved Hiddleston as Loki in Thor, but he really developed in Avengers, great great acting there.

I found myself drawn to Captain A as well, his quiet loneliness really made for a deep character, and I really felt they nailed his action. very much like I imagine the comic Cap would fight in a live action setting.

Thor was more brooding, serious. I loved seeing his power shown off to the max.

Stark was a tad more snarky (Starky?) in this film, but made a great counterpoint to the graveness the others expressed.

Coulson, Hill, and Fury were right on and loved every scene with them.

Widow and Hawkeye were great, loved seeing "non-powered" but equally lethal team members kicking butt!

I am seeing it tomorrow again, this time with my girl, and I hope a couple years from now I'll be sitting down in a theater to again watch the Avengers assemble!

nakobass 05-04-2012 08:53 PM

The AVENGERS WERE AWESOME. Going to see it again tomorrow, and maybe even a couple more times.

We secretly saw it today at 10am in 2D without telling anyone. We will see it again tomorrow with others, we aren't sure which version(2D,3D,IMAX 3D). And we will definitely see it again on Tuesday in IMAX 3D. We should probably go see it in regular 3D tomorrow just to say we saw it in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D.
