Thanks for the compliments! I credit import stands and Shartimus Prime for what I've done there.

I did not get the huge uproar over it. I was more concerned with Doom being some blogger hack.

Fortunately, Doom wasn't just some blogger/hacker in the movie. Unfortunately, his portrayal was even worse than Julian McMahon's.

I don't get why Fox insists on shoehorning in Dr. Doom's origin with the rest of the Fantastic Four. It makes far more sense to already have him as an established world leader by the time we come across him.

Picked him up today. I dont want the Absorbing man Arms

As i said a page or so back instead of altering characters why not bring back heroes of other ethnicites that have been placed on the shelf so to speak? i'm glad that Black Panther is returning in a ongoing series, im also happy to see a new Power man and Iron fist comic. now if they only get back on board with Blade and and maybe make a Prowler series that would be great as well.

I guess you can call me a comic purist or possibly someone is wants things the way they were first originally made. i've also had quite a few gripes about these movie producers changing existing characters sex or ethnicity because they feel it will be "diverse" and appeal to more then just the fans....

Totally agree with you there, when I saw Hispanic ghost rider riding a car that killed it partly for me.

Kirathis 02-02-2016 07:39 PM

Hrm, I will need to see more but that new wave is about half pass for me. Black Panther for sure and maybe Fury. Otherwise, meh.

ChuckSass 02-02-2016 08:34 PM

How didn't we get Peggy in this wave?

If we get Peggy, at the very least they will also HAVE to make Jarvis, Howard, and Bernard Stark!

I'm not a huge Ghostbusters fan so I really don't care. If the trailers look good I'll see it, if they aren't, I won't.

And or making will smith deadshot same as making the guy from the creed movie johnny storm in the last fantastic four movie ??? Because, for the most part, most people don't care. That sounds dismissive, and I hope it doesn't come across as rude, but that's the way it is. Here's the the thing, the vast majority of people in the general audience have never touched a comic book. They don't care about liberties being taken.

Human Torch might be better known, but Deadshot is not a popular character by any means. Most people have never heard of him, aside from perhaps his guest spots on Arrow or his brief appearance in Arkham City. So when it comes time to the movie, most people aren't gonna be angry or upset that they made Deadshot black, they're gonna go "Oh, hey, it's Will Smith!"

Just like how nobody really cared about Nick Fury or Heimdall being black (and before anyone says anything yes I know Fury is black in the Ultimate version). Those are things that hardcore purists care about, but most viewers aren't hardcore purists.

Has Hasbro made any merchandise of any of the TV characters yet?

hasbroherofan 02-02-2016 09:23 PM

This was posted in another thread. It looks like we will indeed get a Civil War Scarlet Witch!

Feel free to visit TFW2005 for Transformers related informations (Nuremberg Toy Fair Transformers Details - TFW2005.com)

Marvel:
6" Civil War Scarlet Witch on shelf, very accurate to Elisabeth Olsen.
6" Red Skull with Iron man kind of armor.
Marvel Legends Doctor Strange Box Art were shown.
ML 3,75" Thor 2-pack with Jane Foster Thor & Thor Odinson, wielding Brohnjam.
12" action figures with lots of articulation and interchangable hands and heads. Spider-Man, Captain America and Iron Man in comic style.
2,5" (I guess) playsets for Civil War were shown.
No Civil War Spidey anywhere.

Star Wars:
Rogue One 6" Black Series were shown. Main heroine, main antagonist (looks like Admiral Thrawn, but without blue skin. Black droid (Assuming RO).
ANH Leia and TFA C-3PO.

3,75" Rogue One vehicles. Starfighter, a new kind of Tie fighter (flat wings shaped kinda like those of an Interceptor. AT-AT with mobile app enhanced control and firing Nerf darts (Smalelr than Vintage Collection). Many new 3,75" figures for TFA, OT,PT and RO.
Banner for Rogoue One with a big shot of Darth Vader.

Power Rangers:
Concept arts for the upcoming movie were shown, but i haven´t seen for myself.

Warcraft:
Jakks pacific has shown some of the toys for the upcoming Warcraft movie. Surprisingly heavy, but they could need a bit more paint apps and detailing.

All in all, I was a bit disappointed in what was shown. Felt like everyone was holding back the great stuff.

Hope these tidbits are still useful.

So why alter them? Now that i think about it, i believe jimmy olsen on the new supergirl show is also not how he's been depicted the past 60 years.

For what it's worth Deadshot is just Caucasian in the comics, I think Bane is Batman's only definite Latino villain.

However regarding the movie I have literally no issue with making him black. Not because it's Will Smith (his record is very wobbly to me) but because Deadshot's race has next to nothing to do with him as a character. Some characters have a definite race based in their origin. Black Panther is from Africa (not South Africa which would allow him to be white) so his origin really only allows him to be black. Steve Rogers is from the 1940s so there was no way the army would use super soldier formula on anyone who wasn't white. The Stark family has a long history dealing with the government so like with Cap the racism of the time points to Iron Man being white. Someone like Peter Parker or Cyclops however could technically be made non-white for a movie or show because nothing about their story directly points to one race or another. Deadshot's origin can be simplified as: rich kid joins military as crack-shot sniper, accidentally kills brother, becomes depressed/suicidal mercenary. Nothing directly indicates his race. Of course nothing prevents studios from altering origins to begin with, thus my argument saying Black panther can only be black is null.

Talking about toys, I have yet to see the Absorbing Man wave outside of my flea market.

lordbest 02-02-2016 09:52 PM

Diversity = reality. Speaking as a white man I think any measures which work and break down the artificial white, male comic fantasy worlds are a good thing. I love Kamala Khan, who is a new character, and she is phenomenally successful. I love Thor, who is a genderbent character, who has also been extremely successful. Both options work when done well, which has to be the key.

The only character I can think of whose whiteness is intrinsically tied to their mythos would be Steve Rogers, who was created to turn the Aryan ideal back against its foul proponents (also conveniently illustrating that comics have always been political). There may be more I'm not aware of. Bond certainly isn't one. English has never been synonymous with white, not since Roman times, not in Tudor times, not in the 19th century with Londons entire black suburbs.

Anyone know what a fair price for a Jubilee wave Storm is without the BAF?

hasbroherofan 02-02-2016 10:08 PM

So with Scarlet Witch and Iron Skull confirmed, any guesses at who the other remaining figures in the Civil War listing are? The "Age of X", "Combatant Red", and "Hero Battler Blue"?

For selling or are you buying?

lordbest 02-02-2016 10:10 PM

I'd like to buy one, the cheapest I've found is $100us shipped to Australia without the BAF, I'm wondering if I should just accept it and pay or if that is still overpriced.

Well, in a perfect world, the Age of X figure would be an Age of Apocalypse figure (maybe Pyslocke or Magneto) and I'm assuming the red and blue refer to Iron Man and Cap's teams, respectively, since those are their main colors... Maybe a Spidey for each side he's on? (again, in a perfect world, haha)

Is the Hulk vulnerable to Magic?

Comic or movie Hulk?? IN Age of Ultron he was messed with by Scarlet Witch so I would say yes he is vulnerable to magic, but in comics I am not sure. I am trying to think of a Hulk story that used magic and all I can think of is Fear Itself where Hulk turned evil. That story was based around Asgard magic, so I will say yes on all accounts.

What's wrong with the blue eyes? In the books Bond has gray blue eyes. As such, Craig's eyes match what is described. In fact, except for the hair color, Craig looks exactly like the Bond Flemming wrote about.

Now onto the hair, I don't get the big deal about him being blonde. Moore was blonde too.

However, Bond is supposed to white, no ands, ifs or buts about it.

I don't like them changing a comic book character's race. I don't like it one bit. However, it makes even less sense to change the race of one character but keep his sibling the original race. WTF? They should either both be white or both be black. Their super heroes, not Oreos.

As for Doom, my god was he insulting. There was nothing Dr Doom about him. In fact, Roger Corman is the only man to ever have gotten Doom the most accurate to the comics.

The biggest with Fant4stic is that it is so damn boring. The first 45 minutes were pretty interesting despite the cast having no chemistry whatsoever. However, had it been a science fiction movie about discovering and exploring an unknown world, it could have been great. As a super hero movie, NO!!! They don't even actually do anything super heroy in the thing and the scenes you seen in the trailer with Thing are not even present in the movie.

SymbiSpidey 02-02-2016 11:27 PM

The thing I disliked about Fan4stic is that it felt like it was ashamed to be a Fantastic Four/superhero movie but at the same time couldn't help but force references to comic books in the most awkward way possible.

Then there was parts where it felt like they were 90% done with the movie and then went "Wait a minute, this was suppose to be a Fantastic Four movie, right?" and then at the last minute added one or two scenes to remind us that these are suppose to be the characters in the comic book, which results in awkward scenes. Like how Johnny and Ben barely exchanged words throughout the entire movie then all of a sudden at the end Johnny starts insulting him for no reason, even though we're given no reason to believe that the character would act that way towards him. Or how they had "Doom" act like a dick to Reed for all of one line of dialogue (and for no reason), then they're essentially best friends for most of the movie, up until Doom comes back and suddenly has a burning hatred of Reed, not because it made sense with the story, but because that's how it went down in the comic books, so naturally, it has to be clumsily forced into this movie to remind us that this was suppose to be Fantastic Four.

There's numerous scenes like that, but those stood out to me.

For those of you who are newer to Marvel Legends, or even you old timers, the holy grail of them has turned up on Ebay....

Marvel Legends Crimson Dawn Psylocke Black Costume Variant Mojo Series AFA 85 | eBay

It's hard enough to find pictures of this thing online, let alone someone actually selling one. While the price is laughably high, I thought it might be a cool thing to let you guys know about. It also shows that we really need a new, and more importantly, mass produced Psylocke, as the original Toy Biz one is REALLY hideous, and that SDCC one, while passable, is really not worth the 100+ dollar price tag she tends to go for on the secondary market, especially on that outdated buck.

The only other figures more rare than her than I could think of are the silver shirted Luke Cage and the blue costumed Wasp. A cool piece of Toy Biz Marvel Legends history, but still...good luck to this guy trying to sell her on ebay, especially at that price...
