Only seen wave 1and 4 here as well. not a peep from 2-3 aside from the occasional LCS find. Retail is dead to me at this point. It is not like it used to be my friends. The days of the toy hunt is gone.
|
So I just grabbed The new Sandman, from overseas $19 shipped.
So with him I have my Sinister Six... Back to customs :-p |
Resists..urge..to bid on Bishop. Must resist......

With that said, it's sad that retail is dead. I see Hasbro keeps releasing the garbage assemblers and other poorly done 3 inch figures and 6 inch...who needs Shield Throwing and Motorcycling riding cap...no one buy them. What Hasbro does is, since those figures don't sell, they SHOULD eliminate them, but then what will they fill that retail space up with? Plus the failing cost of those lines, Hasbro will raise the prices of Universe and Legends to make up for their decisions. |
As someone who doesn't yet have kids, I hope that's not true! Anyone on here have kids at the right age for toys and action figures? Do they really not play with them these days? I know of course kids are more and more into technology, but is it really replacing toys?
|
As one of the older collectors on the site (39) and having two kids 11yold grl and 8yold boy, tech is the sad way of the future.
My daughter Ipad and clothes for xmas..and that was really her list !!!!! at 11 :-( My son is 50/50 but even with him...They live in another state so i get them on holidays and such..but the MU stuff kept at my house, most of his other toys are with me, reason , he says cause dad you get on the floor and actually play with me ! But at his moms house its video games and the computer. most of his friends he says doesnt even own toys !!! So alot has to do with the parents, if your not taking time to play with your kids and let them be KIDS, then they grow up raising themselves, everything now is (we as parents) dont have time so tech and whatever class you can sign them up for becomes there playmates kids dont even do sleepovers and stuff anymore cause people are paranoid of other people being around there kids. So I think a big part is if you want your kids, to be kids treat them like kids...play with them and let them know using their imagination is cool rant over.... |
I don't have kids but I've noticed all my cousins kids and SO's nieces and nephews (only child here so I don't have any nieces/nephews of my own), unless they're really young like less 5 and under, they don't play with figures anymore. They play with tech.
The five and under crowd just play with anything that remotely resembles a toy that they can get their hands on. |
Back to ordering customs and getting old figures. Recently scored a custom firelord, wizard and black tarantula from ebay. I need an articulated t-rex to make a devil dinosaur custom.
Anyone has a variant Havok for me? |

Fast forward a few years ago, I was online, and searching Turtles 90's wallpaper, and all of a sudden my eyes catch the Classics and then I kept looking and looking and went to Amazon, saw the price, went to TRU a week later and got myself a Leo. I was so impressed with the sculpt and how much the leap was from the 90's. I was blown away by the paints, weapons, articulation and closeness to the actual cartoon. I actually got another friend into it. My other 2 friends who I told I started collecting, didn't bother to look into collecting. Their, brainpower is lower than mine to be blunt, so they do not understand things about paints and articulation. To be fair they never really collected figures when younger like I did. The one friend I convinced, collected when he was younger, stopped in HS because of games also like myself. But I agree with your statement, dads collect so will sons. A lot has happened, TV just does not have cartoon any more mornings and Saturday from what I hear. You missed out.....nothing better than seeing cartoons then having commercials about toys for that very show....lol |
now is the time to get into this line if you really like it. just looking at ebay I think I could build a damn close to complete collection at 35% below retail. Hell Xforce AA is only averaging 65$. and for every Havoc variant you need to pay 50 or so for there are a dozen others going for $1.75-$3.00! I think the post holiday cash strap, and the "line is dead" sell offs have begun. there's a lot of MOC product out there right now. and nothing is going for insane money loose.... except Vision! I am beginning to loath him.

Hey, I am a actually in Murfreesboro now! I can attest that TRU is a ghost town. Barely anything on any of the figure pegs. At the start of December it was pretty well stocked so hopefully they will fill those shelves soon. |
An interesting point about dads that collect - I mean I always knew it was thanks to my parents that I had the collection of toys that I did... my dad had a few Kenner SW figures that he gave to me. Now that I think about it though, not many of my friends really had all that many action figures, or toys in general. Just the odd thing here and there. Certainly not any kind of "collection". I guess it probably is very dependent on the parents. I like the point about getting on the floor with your kid and actually playing with them - I don't have any kids yet, but that'll certainly be very important to me when I do.
As for MU, I'm feeling like if action figures really are on their way out - at least the affordable, "playable" kind like these, it really is a good time be getting in our collecting while we can. |
Ugh target put its prices up and all they have is the guardians wave.

I emailed bbts to see if they'd be getting the new MI wave with bishop, black cat etc. and this was what they said:
"Thank you for contacting us! While I fully expect we will be carrying the new wave of the 3.75" Marvel Infinite figures, our Product Department must await the solicit before we are able to post the preorder. They are very good at putting up the preorders as soon as the official solicit is received if we are able to acquire these statues. I do apologize that I do not have any additional information on this." Hoping to see the new ones soon, they are popping up on eBay. |

I don't know if that means it's just too early or someone has Hasbro has dropped the ball or they're not going to get these to online retailers as much. That would be extremely troubling. as I'm guessing a good portion, if not a majority, of us get these via online. Certainly can't blame BBTS on this though. They can't offer what they haven't been given solits to sell. |
Hey, MI is now 50% off in my supermarket, so I got Ant-man and Valkyrie for 6 euros (7$?)
I hope it doesn't mean we won't get the other waves, though... As for toys collecting dad: my son is 3 and very interested in trains as well as Disney CARS and PLANES... we use to play together as he invents a lot of new stories... he likes watching cartoons but I limit this, and also he's never alone with an iPad or a screen unless I have something quick to do like cooking for him, etc... I try to maximum avoid the tablet syndrom, too many kid-zombies near me... As for MI distribution, I never saw the Death's Head wave in France though, so maybe Hasbro skipped this one? Now it's Deathlock's wave and GoG wave co-existing. For business purposes, I'll have to contact Hasbro France soon, I'll ask them about that if I have the chance :) |
oh, I forgot to add, I was out with a friend last night, saw Wave 2 at Target, except Red She Hulk, and they also had a Wasp. Ironic. Not a lot of stock but it was there. I think just one case. A friend of mine who is not a big Marvel collector but does collect Transformers picked up a Death's Head.
|
Taking another look at the 2015 figures, Black Cat is actually looking like one I might buy multiples of. Lower articulation aside, her proportions are way better than the 2 standard female 3.75 bodies in use by Hasbro (excluding the She-Hulk body). Give her a couple of wrist cut joints and she's good to go.

Speaking of custom parts, has anyone used the harry potter figures ? are they 3.75" scale. I was looking at buying a drago in a suit, but dont want him if he's 5" thanks for help
|
I thought the potter figures were closer to the 6" scale.

yeah there more of the Necca/Mcfarline style low articulation, high sculpt 6-7" scale.
Harry Potter Action Figures Set of 4 | eBay now I did see this line, they look like 3.75, but I'm not sure. if they are though I think I found my Franklin Richards stand in. Harry Potter Lot of 7 Action Figures | eBay Ok, Harry does have a 3.75 line (who knew?) harry potter figure 3.75 | eBay It looks like star wars style articulation, but I think a good customizer could mabey get a Power Pack, and a few other characters out of it. |
