I could sit through a 3 hour long movie! Like I hate when directors work around time constrictions. Like c'mon, we are comic book nerds, we don't really care about how long it is!

If they make a Marvel Ultimate Alliance Movie I'd spend a day in that theater and come out like it was no problem!

Boba Fettuccini 08-18-2011 10:47 PM

We could, but comic book fans alone aren't going to fill the theaters enough for it to make enough money to pay itself off. If it's too long, people like my girlfriend or your average joe isn't going to see it, and that's probably going to be over 50% of the movies profits. And if the profits aren't enough, well, you can forget any more movies.

Tiberius 08-18-2011 10:52 PM

Honestly though, if I was an average joe, why would I see a comic book movie? I for one don't like going to movies for shits and giggles. I understand where you are coming from, it is all about the money of course, but if I was a director, it would to please the fans more than anything.

Boba Fettuccini 08-18-2011 11:01 PM

Most of the people I know who love Iron Man have never once touched the comics. Same with the Dark Knight, Spider-man, and all the rest. People love superhereos, they jsut don't have the time and money to keep up on the comics. Even to this day, the only superhero comics I read are Deadpool and Hellboy. I've read some Batman, Iron Man, SPider-man and X-Men trades, but that's all. It was Iron Man in 2008 that even got me to like Marvel at all, before that I was a strict DC only guy.

Knowing this, you have to realize it's unrealistic for the film directors to cater to comic fans... what works on the cmic book page doesn't work as well on screen. And if they spend $30 mil making it, but only make $20 mil in the box office, it's the end of the road. I'd rather have more movies with different elements than just a few movies with everything crammed in.

Tiberius 08-18-2011 11:06 PM

I'd rather them skip the movies and do a TV series.

Boba Fettuccini 08-18-2011 11:10 PM

To do anything justice with a TV series would take an astronomical amount of money. If it worked though... the action figures could end up being longer-running, and more complete...

Tiberius 08-18-2011 11:16 PM

Marvel/DC has money. Hulk is in the works, so is AKA Jessica Jones. I was REALLY hoping for Moon Knight though.

My girlfriend was AWESOME and just bought me these 4 awesome figures... and I added the Thor I got the other day to the photo seeing as he's not in the Thread yet!

Boba Fettuccini 08-19-2011 11:12 AM

Your girlfriend IS awesome. Mine puts up with my action figure hunting, but I don't think she'd even consider buying any. Like ever.

Do Boy 08-19-2011 11:14 AM

Gotta love these awesome GFs. My GF has gotten me 30% of my collection.

Zictor 08-19-2011 11:37 AM

My girlfriend has got me most of my collection... I have 21 and I've bought 7 of them so that's 2 3rds. She'd bought me a ton of Lego sets, a 3.75" Darth Vader which came with a nice pack of guns that fit the marvel figures hands... I added most of them to Deadpool

I've not got into this size for Star Wars thank god! I don't think I'd have the room for them, although I think if I started I'd soon get addicted and go after all the characters.... although most of my Star Wars stuff is Lego and I'm like that with MiniFigures... They are so addictive!!!

good news. my 90s Kingpin Crime Syndacite building came today. Its pretty big and awesome for MU. Totally turning it into the Baxter Building. Now to build a base for it and I'll have Skyscraper 1 for my Diorama.

Can you upload a photo of it? I think it may be the one I looked at many years ago wishing I could find a Hobgoblin toy, he was on the box but not available to buy back then!

Awesome!!! That Baxter Building sounds like it's gonna be epic. How tall you plan on making it?

stjuggernaut 08-19-2011 01:13 PM

this will be epic. has anyone ever made a shield hellicarrier? or an avengers mansion. looking at riverspoons iron man workshop has got me intersted in marvel universe dioramas.

its a shame DC dont make 3.75 figures in MU quality. because i would collect them and totally need a watchtower somewhere in my room!

I started with Star Wars, but they're not actually this size. They're like 3", and the Marvel are closer to 4". So I don't display them together anymore because I'm kinda OCD about that.

Its probably going to be the biggest building in the dio. I've even changed my mind on styrofoam. Wood is winning but if anybody knows any other good sturdy building materials, let me know.

If your looking to get this playset, I'm going to let you all know, its expensive as hell. I got lucky and found one on ebay for only 30, but it normally hits 150

ludovicotek 08-19-2011 02:03 PM

^ Hmmm... wood will definitely work, but it's gonna be heavy as hell. Have you thought about using a thick foam core board? Obviously not as sturdy as wood, but if you get some thick enough, between 1/2"-1" thick, it'll get the job done. Plus, it's very light. Easy as hell to cut. You can paint it, glue/tape it. Pretty versatile and durable. I designed a warehouse that I want to build as a villain hideout and I was planning on using foam core for the structure.

If you have any art supply stores around you it should be easy to find. Walmart, Target, Office Depot, etc. all carry it, but usually only the thin stuff.

behindthemask 08-19-2011 02:09 PM

Most craft stores sell small pieces of wood that have patterns such as brick/stone, decoratore borders, it's wood, sturdy, thin like 1/4'' thick and you can get a 24'' by 3'' section for $2-3

Yup, balsa wood. That'll work too!

Boba Fettuccini 08-19-2011 05:01 PM

Is anyone still in need of a colored Dr. Strange? My sister just got one at Target as her free figure, and we don't really need it. Check my buy/trade thread in my signature.

MarvelTF918 08-19-2011 05:51 PM

Got MU Silver Surfer from storage today

I know they made a dinky helicarrier for the SHS line, but id like to see a custom helicarrier using the USS flag and putting turbines on the side. thatd rule. im also jealous of the armory/workshop.
