I would kill for pretty much of a Jim Lee version of anyone. Minus Wolverine b/c we REALLY already have enough Wolverines.

Deadpool on the other hand (at least as I remember it happening, this account could be heavily flawed) has held fascination for close to a decade now because people went bonkers over a character who knew he was in a comic book. Then, like DC would with Harley, Marvel realized this character could be extremely marketable if crammed into every book possible. So I guess the only real difference between the two from a popularity standpoint is that Deadpool saw a more gradual rise earlier in his span before his explosion while Harley Quinn was more of a cult-followed character who had to be revamped before exploding.

IDK dude, i see her series prior to Amanda conner taking it and starting the new 52 title was also a pretty popular series as well i heard. only difference was Harley was still in her traditional costume.
it seems to be in demand. either way they're both the big 2's headliners kind of.

If anyone has ever seen the hulk VS wolverine dvd/blu ray deadpool is in that as well trying to capture the hulk.

305Batman 02-12-2016 05:45 PM

Yeah,it seems like DC/Marvel are trying too hard to push DP/HQ on the public!

Harley Quinn was always a popular character by virtue of being in the TV shows and games. That alone makes her more popular and recognizable than the majority of comic characters.

To contrast, Deadpool was really more of a cult property, as he didn't often show up in TV shows, and they royally botched his first attempt at a movie debut. The new movie is probably the biggest exposure he's ever had.

I do kind of agree on the deadpool. I can't speak on the HQ so much. Deadpool...lady Deadpool. Gwenpool. it was bad from the mid 90's to about five years ago but sometime in the last five years it's gotten over the top.

On that note if they ever make a gwenpool, I will make it my personal mission to buy every figure of her I can afford. and Melt her. And then post pictures online. And send them to fans. :p Because that right there was crossing the the hype line, to me.

Making her a huge seller and getting the marketers to make a bunch of other Gwenpool merch!

it's a shame She-Hulk didn't catch on with readers, when she was breaking the fourth wall back in the day it was amazing.

I think She-Hulk is one of the most under appreciated Marvel Characters out there. Hard to say that when she's had multiple solos that have hit decent issues, but aside from that most of her stints on anything seem to be very short term (except for her first avengers stint.).

I would honestly put her right behind Carol, Janet, Wanda and Natasha for most important female Avengers and she has earned the right to continued prominence and a new Marvel Legends figure!

So in addition to expanding the line to include 12 inch figures they're also launching a Marvel Legends prop label.

Huh. So it seems like Hasbro is trying to seriously rival the more high end Asian studios that have been poaching some of their business on the collector's market.

Yeah. Maybe if she starts popping up in movies she'll get more love.

TheBlueMarvel 02-12-2016 06:17 PM

I've been thinking about the X-wave BAF and I believe Hasbro is going to reveal a Sentinel. I know many have suggested Apocalypse, but that feels like too big a nod to the upcoming movie NOT made by Marvel Studios. My rationale is that a Sentinel would ensure the largest amount of buy-in across collectors. With the cost of the original Toy Biz BAF being too steep for the tastes of many, a new mold would have even fickle fans getting off the fence. Apocalypse would create a similar amount of hysteria, but it would also indirectly promote Fox's movie.

Just a bit of 11th hour speculation...I'm fine either way with these choices. I guess we will see in the next 72 hours or so...

Edit:

@Chuck

Shulkie is the best 'non-Hulk' Hulk...

Man i loved her comic then. Good art, fun, enjoyable stories. Not like that kindergarten special ed class art they had in her book a year or so back. God when did the bar get set so low.

Jen's one of my favorites. I loved that her victory quote over Deadpool in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was a joke about how, if the game were released years ago, she'd be the one with all the 4th wall jokes.

Well, they did allow Lego to make a comic style X-Men vs. Sentinel Lego set when Days of Future Past came out. And the comics are doing a crossover called Apocalypse War right around the time the movie is coming out.

I think Marvel is fine with stuff like that just so long as it isn't an explicit movie tie-in.

Oh, I'm not trying to rehash the debate over whether or not Marvel is trying to sabotage Fox (at least, I'm not intentionally trying to). I'm just speculating based on what I think makes sense. You could be right, and either way, I'm ok with it...

hasbroherofan 02-12-2016 06:39 PM

Oh yeah no, I'm not trying to reignite the debate. I'm just saying that regardless of whether or not the rumored Fox embargo exists, Marvel seems fine with letting people do toys of characters appearing in the X-Men movies just so long as they aren't actually movie figures, like the Marvel Legends Deadpool we just saw unveiled.

TheBlueMarvel 02-12-2016 06:47 PM

@hasbro

Your points are valid ones. Which one of the two would you prefer? A Sentinel or Apocalypse?

I talked to Charles Soule at a con when he was in Toronto, and he said he's planning on doing a "Second season" of the book. So perhaps it'll be announced soon. Her dynamic with Patsy was so good. I don't care what anyone says, I loved that run.

I'd say her and Spider-Woman are definitely big players in the Marvel mythos, they were created solely out of legal reasons, and they've managed to carve themselves into very different characters than their male counterparts.

Sentinel hands down! Hell even Nimrod!

Captain Nash 02-12-2016 06:53 PM

I don't want a sentinel! I want a Sauron!

(Sorry Spyne)

also advanced apologies to anyone else tonight. I've found my cups. Should I keep posting or just read? I won't be offensive just whiny.)

TheBlueMarvel 02-12-2016 06:54 PM

@Nitelife

I think I'd faint if it were Nimrod. I want Nimrod more than either Apocalypse or a Sentinel...

Edit:
@Nash

They said it's "big," so I think Sauron's out and Spyne is safe to finish his custom;)

Her 4th wall breaks were generally more direct and clever. I'm not saying I disliked Deadpool's but his (at least in his earlier material) breaks were typically more subtle things like knowledge of issue numbering.

Parademon1 02-12-2016 07:15 PM

Nimrod is my 1st choice, but a regular hunter/killer Sentinel is great as well. I guess they would be in the 10 inch scale, maybe 12 inches tall?

Sauron would hve the biggest wingspan of any Marvel Legend though. :p

Really? That is great news, I loved that book so much. I've been enjoying her in A-Force and stuff but its not the same.

Casting my vote for a sentinel.
