The could put a canopy over that top drivers seat. And screw haslab just make it a regular release along with the vamp, stinger and skyhawk.

I agree I much rather avoid Haslab if possible, but a vehicle that size might need Haslab in order for them to make it the proper size.

Other than that, GIJoe are FILLED with personal/reasonable sized vehicles: FANG, CLAW, Jetpack, Skyhawk, Ferret, Devilfish, Firebat, Recon Sled, etc., etc. I don't know what Hasbro is waiting for.

Kirathis 01-18-2022 01:23 PM

At this point, they may be favoring ensuring that the newer releases run smoothly before expanding even further. They are riding a high of good will at the moment and may want to ensure they do not damage the brand again before expanding the offerings.

This line also seems to lean heavily into the figure, as with most 6" lines, so I would expect vehicles to be few and far between if they exist much at all. Even when they do, I would not expect to see anything larger than the Coil or Ram considering that most 6" vehicles, outside of the personal ones such as the motorcycles, would be similar in overall size (or amount of plastic) to the recent 3.75" scale fighter jet that was released through HasLab.

I love the Target white Widow headsculpt... probably one of my fav female headsculpts of all-time, but I'm using that one for my Vintage Black Widow headswap. I also really like the Walmart grey Widow headsculpt too, but I never saw that one.

Also saw a lone Gung-ho at Target today... I actually still need that Gung-ho, but I have a feeling there will be tons of Gung-ho hanging around, so I can wait to get him on clearance.

Agreed. The grey Widow was still MSRP on Walmart's site a couple of weeks ago if you are looking to grab the head for a swap. No idea if it is still the case but it might be worth a look. I have both Widows specifically for the head sculpts so I completely understand your sentiment. Hasbro has been killing it with some of their female Legends heads. I may find myself buying Legends again just to source parts for use with future Joes.

Speaking of Legends, Pulse pulled another one on me today. Random box showed up without notification. I was hoping for the BATs but it was a group of Legends I decided to pick up. Still no Cobra robots for me thus far. I think I have pre-orders in at 3 different sites now...

I might be one of the few out there who doesn't like the way the comic based female Legends heads look on Joe bodies. The lack of paint and fine detail, as well as their size just doesn't do it for me.

The MCU female Legends though is a different story. If you can match up the skin tones, or are willing to paint a little...you can get some really good results that fall right in line with the rest of classified and don't look too far off.

As for Scarlett, I found that any of the Scar Jo (how appropriate...lol) headsculpts from the MCU Widows work very well. For my Joe team, I actually use movie Scarlett as my main Scarlett, and repurposed the Classified Scarletts I have into a different character team altogether, making some female troop builders. I did the same with the movie Baroness, as the movie costume is actually a great design that doesnt look out of place.

As for female heads that work well on the Classified Scarlett body for troops without requiring too much tweaking, MCU Melina and Yelena, the various ScarJo movie widows, MCU Colleen Wing, MCU Katy, and MCU Wasp to name a few.

Don't forget to check out the Power Rangers Lightning Collection as well. Many have great civilian headsculpts that can be obtained fairly cheap and work well for side characters and troop builders.

Bo Ttef 01-19-2022 09:56 AM

Personally I can't use MCU heads for anything- like Star Wars Black Series, ever since they stated with the photo mapping they just look too much like the actor. I get ScarJo cosplaying as Scarlett. Power Rangers are a bit easier to take only because I really don't know them- but again. The realistic portraits make them look off next to the neutral looking Joe figures.

I actually picked up some extra movie Scarlett and Baroness figures specifically to have their parts for bashing together something else.

Since we're on the subject of head swaps, I had two of the ML HFC sets, so I gave one of the Selene heads to Baroness. The glasses are from last year's ML Moira MacTaggert. I like this better than the portrait Baroness came with, but I can always pop that one back on if I want to.

That looks SO MUCH better! I am in no way a fan of the original glasses for Baroness.

Just received a shipping notice for my BATs and Alley Viper from Entertainment Earth!

I mean yah it does look good... but how many people have an extra Hellfire Club set lying around. LOL. That is like fixing up your Volkswagon with the extra Ferrari you had parked on the sidewalk.

It helped that each set comes with a standalone Selene head, so it's more of an easy to come by accessory.

Fan First Friday Reveals:
Tomax
Xamot
Stalker
Baroness
Retro Lady Jaye
Retro Destro
Retro Gung Ho
Viper troop builder 3-pack with two Vipers and a Viper Officer

No pre-orders yet. They were all digital renders and did not show accessories.

HoovenIV 01-21-2022 09:22 AM

Nice quick presentation. Bums me out a bit that they're re-releasing characters I've already bought in the much more preferred updated retro looks. I wish they would have just done that in the first place.

Kirathis 01-21-2022 09:26 AM

I am actually someone who is not in the retro camp. I would rather have a more modern with bleeding edge technology aesthetic. That being said, I am happy that they are offering that option to fans, but I do not understand making main line figures in a more retro style if they are also offering the retro line. I will be curious to see how this all fleshes out as releases continue.

Dr Kain 01-21-2022 09:28 AM

So Xomat, Tomax, and Stalker are going to be instant buys. Do they go up today?

I prefer the Gung-Ho I already got and I'm not sure about the Viper pack given it has a PP version in it. If it was 3 regular versions I would be all over it.

No need for the repaints of Baroness and Destro as the first versions already look fantastic.

Kirathis 01-21-2022 09:30 AM

No, they do not go up today. Pre-orders will be at a later date.

That's just the nature of a new line in general.

MeLikeJinx 01-21-2022 09:49 AM

So that Classified Retro Gung-ho is gonna be a Walmart exclusive? And all the other future Classified Retro figs are also gonna be Walmart exclusives? If so I think I am probably out then... I will never see them and can't afford to be paying 40/50 bucks scalper price per figure.

The nature of G.I.Joe as well.

It's not a Python Patrol Viper...but rather a Viper Officer, whose only figure to date was as a part of the 50th anniversary "Vipers Pit" three pack, in spirit making it a kind of a POC era deco...

Personally, of the four, only Gung-ho appears to be different enough to warrant picking up. The differences on the other three appear to be negligible, or in the case of Destro, inferior to the V1. Jury's out on LJ, she may fit the bill if the sculpt is less Chris Kattan-y than the V1, hard to tell from the render.

...that was already a call-back to the '98 Officer.

Archangel 01-21-2022 11:10 AM

Those Hasbro Gi Joe presentations are so much weaker than the Marvel guys. It was almost difficult to watch. The offerings were good, glad to see them pumping out more product.

Not really. Do you pay attention to the Power Rangers line at all?

Hmmm, still not a fan of the gray colors though.

I heard the presentation was quite good as they got to the point and didn't drag things out.
