Even though Penguin's coming out in DCD Arkham City, I wouldn't mind having another in DCUC. I *really* need a WW though. New 52 should do the job, since the DCUC is stupidly priced and hard to find.

FancyPants 01-20-2012 04:54 PM

Lost my bid on wonder woman. Went way too high. I'm pissed. Gonna ask the wife if I can just pull the trigger on Red Son Superman. Also maybe I can finish my anti monitor series. Pisses me off about wonderwoman. I really want her. I think her and aquaman are the last two guys i need for the original Justice league

DogFashionDisco 01-20-2012 09:37 PM

Well, looks like I jumped the shark when I bought Penguin. I just confirmed that they are going to re-release him.

Penguin on display at NYCC:

Which one is better, the one coming out, or the DCUC Wave 1 version (pictured below)?

FancyPants 01-20-2012 09:47 PM

I like wave 1 better. It would match perfectly with the mad love joker color scheme. I'll definitely be getting the new one though.

I'm going to buy a loose one when it drops, and use the umbrella with mine. That picture I posted of Wave 1 Penguin is the one I bought. No umbrella + a few dings = good price.

Tiberius 01-20-2012 10:15 PM

Don't worry DFD. The one you are getting is miles ahead. That was the one I was PMing you about lol. Appearently I thought blue was purple haha.

Oooh, ok. That makes sense, haha. I was wondering about that. I hope mine turns out ok, I'm a little worried it'll arrive in pretty haggard condition.

Tiberius 01-20-2012 10:21 PM

He looks like a sturdy figure so I am sure he will be fine. Maybe worry about the nose about though...I would be anyways...

Tiberius 01-20-2012 10:23 PM

Also DC Lego is hitting the shelves here...kind of want the Batwing set...

Yeah. It kind of looks like there is a mark on his nose, I didn't notice it right away. If it is really bad I'll try to work something out with the seller. Worst case scenario, he offers a 7-day return.

Tiberius 01-20-2012 10:27 PM

Returns are good. Maybe it would be somthing you could fix too

That's what I was thinking, it is such a rare figure and I don't want to turn it loose now that I've finally found it. If I can't fix it, maybe someone else can?

Ravenxl7 01-20-2012 10:42 PM

While the colors of the older figure are easier to take seriously, I personally prefer the new one coming out. If it's a retail release I'll probably get him. I like the comical color scheme, and the new headsculpt is much better imho. The fact that it's based off of the old Super Powers figure means he'll go nicely with my Mr. Freeze.

kenm2474 01-20-2012 10:46 PM

DFD. IMO the series 1 Penguin has a more evil weathered older look. The SDCC one is more of a super friends style fun and happy looking. I may get him for my LOD Collection.

Lots of mixed responses, which I think is cool. At some point I'll probably have both. What do you guys like about each one? I do dig the gritty style of the Wave 1 Penguin, and it still retains a classic feel. The Super Friends one is very old school which I like a lot (plus the color scheme of the umbrella rocks) but he would only really fit in with a collection of strictly first appearance type stuff. Great figure though, but I think I prefer the head sculpt on the wave 1 version.

I know its based on the old Super Friends version, but I'm just trying to gauge what you guys prefer. Is this your favorite of the two?

Nope. I like one you have :)

DogFashionDisco 01-20-2012 11:29 PM

Now that I think of it, I would like a figure representation of Cesar Romero too.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17857818/cesar-romero-joker.jpg

Look at this picture, the guy never shaved his mustache. I can just imagine how that went over with the show's creators....

Director: Cesar, I think you should shave off your mustache, its too easy to see on screen.

Cesar: Fuck you.

hahaha

I prefer the wave 1 version.

Assuming Mattel could acquire the rights to do so, I would absolutely love for them to make a Romero Joker figure. I would probably even get one for my dad too (he watched the show as a kid and still loves it to this day). I know that they very rarely work, but this is one figure idea I would definitely sign a petition for.

KingLouie731 01-21-2012 08:13 AM

Much prefer the darker coloring for the Penguin and they only reason to buy the newer version is if you missed the first one or love the character/super friends

yeah same here i have both version of Mr. Freeze but not liking the legacy wave of Mr.freeze color apps...

I still need to get the regular penguin , but i will end up getting this one as well ....

Just thought I would show my Modified Wave 20 Red and Green Arrows Bows. After cutting off the arrows the bows look very impressive adding black to the string.

Nice bow mods Ken! Wal-mart here has done there new year re-modle in the toy department and FINALLY have pegs for DCU Classics figures. I have been checking EVERY day. It is rather exciting seeing a major retailer besides TRU carry DCUC figures after all this time in Canada.

I wonder what will show. Maybe old Walmart exclusive waves? Maybe I will see the METALLO wave? Anything is awesome! Over the past few days my brother and I have gotten some more DCUC figures. One of them being Deathstroke, what a figure! We also got 2 more Manhunters, 7 bucks a pop so it was a good buy here. DFD sold me a Plastic Man so that REALLY makes me excited. Thanks DFD! Now my top 2 priorities are Wonder Woman and Batman to round off my JLA. That public enemies one looks amazing so I will probably go after that one.

No problem dude, I'm always glad to help out a friend. By the way, a guy on Hisstank is selling the blue version of DCSH Batman for $25 plus shipping.
