I was thinking maybe just before or during civil war. I really liked that storyline where john walker takes over as captain america while Steve is "the captain". I wouldn't mind an updated USAgent figure. The one I got from the first avenger has derpy eyes and I hate that shield that he came with.

kylactus 03-29-2015 09:28 PM

as long as we don't get into the "nomad" era thing I think anything will be fine.

Its Monday... Hows the ARKER's this morning !!
So I was rearranging some of the figures in the display case, with my son via video chat..He lives with his mom in another state. Anywho, while were doing it he points out The Mandraian. He states,"Dad he's pretty lame,I feel like we bought him and he has no real purpose'.
The more I thought about it I have to admit; he is one of the lamest villians to do something with in a display or even playing with.
So lets Quickly breakdown the MU Villians.
Bosses:
Apocalypse
Magneto
Ultron those types takes whole teams to beat
Hulks Villians:
again takes Hulk level or teams
Red Skulls, Dr Oct types:
that get teams of villians
The in it to win it villians:
Zemo, Taskmaster, Kraven , Bullseye, Crossbones great no matter what they are doing..can use them as hired help, in vendettas etc
Organizations:
the hydras, aim's, hand ninjas ...etc fun to just whipp the snot out off
My favorite, The rob a bank villians:
The absorbing man , spidey villians, half the custom villians that are made
and then theirs ...Mandrian....For us hes just there. I think I have a ironman armor blasting him lol
So after my rant with no real point..how do you display this character ? are there any that you just look at and say "who do I match him up with or where do I put this guy ?!"
Oh yeah one other for me is Blade WTF ????

Edited my previous post feel free to respond lol

My Mandarin stands among my general overall villain section, but were I to categorize him I'd place him among the "Prime Movers" as he was during the "Acts of Vengeance." He's a big enough bad that he deserves to stand among others like Doom, Loki, and the Skull and such.

Not that's he's ever really been that major of a threat. My favorite iteration of the Mandarin continues to be his Hand "Crime Boss" incarnation.

jedirulz123 03-30-2015 10:50 AM

I stick most villains like Mandarin who have nowhere to go with my Masters of Evil. Hyperion, MCU Mr Hyde, Whiplash & Iron Monger take their place among its ranks.

ukmu 03-30-2015 11:40 AM

I have zero use for Blade and am trading for some paint jobs on mini Mandroids. About to do the same with Ghost Rider if he didn't have his totally bitchin' chopper we got him.

I have thought about this while at Toys R Us, with a couple little Buddha statues, tiny vases and other semi racist brik-a-brak like they use with bonsai trees. Then he would need his own tiny little shelf and I don't know if he is worth the bother. For what it's worth, my son uses him as Glenn when he plays Walking Dead with his MU's. I think I have offended 1 in 5 of the world's population now....

If only I had a 3.75" Street Fighter figure of Dhalsim and a wee little curry I could make.a mini diorama to offend the sub continent of India. For real though, if given his own dedicated space a little thought put into it, Mandarin could have the coolest set up ever! If one were so inclined he could be the star of any collection with that dragon and some other stuff....Oh, the dragon is the MU scale dragon riders from Schleich. Perhaps, maybe in the bath house playset from PotC even? I have seen many tiny Chinese looking things over the years that could fit in nicely. Little columns and scrolls with little jade statues or something and a little throne even?

X Men Blackbird Lot 3 75 inch Low Bid Marvel Universe | eBay

good deal if it stays low.... I have thwe one in the first pic and love it. 2 is better than 1 though...also, nevermind the shipping and import duty, thast is what it always shows up as when surfing ebay.COM from the Uk instead of ebay.CO.UK

Kernel 03-30-2015 12:24 PM

Every once in a while I like to take mandarins hands and head and throw him on professor x's body minus the blazer, put him in his corporate look. Are u guys talking about the green or red one. Took me forever to get a green mandarin for a decent price. It would have been nice had an Asian guy play mandarin, instead of you know, a really old (but good actor)British dude. Throw him in with your ironman villians.

Technically Ben Kingsley is Asian. His father is Indian and his mother is British, but it's obvious in his face that he's got Indian heritage. While not the East Asian Mandarin is associated with, he does qualify as Asian nonetheless.

Villains organization:

The "oh CRAP!!" level of villains (be they X-Men, general Marvel or Spider-Man) when you know when they show up it's all hitting the fan. They would only ally themselves with one another to serve their own ends and at extreme moments, and those moments are few and far between Some might not ally themselves with anyone, ever, period.

These include: Magneto, Apocalypse, Ultron, Kang, Thanos, Loki, Dr Doom, Galactus, Dark Phoenix and Red Skull.

Secondary are high threat villains but may still be manaage but luck and teamwork. They may be willing to make temporary alliances for mutal benefit:

Mandarin*, Mystique, Enchantress, Mister Sinister*, Iron Monger, Baron Zemo*, Leader, Green Goblin*, Dr. Octopus

* I would rank these four as slightly higher levels of threats than the others in the same group.
Third level are not necessarily the movers and shakers of the world but are still formidable threats, which at times can be taken out by either a very powerful (or lucky) hero, or a smaller team of heroes. They would be more likely to be followers than anyone of the above categories, which would only see each other as equals within their same levels.

This would include: Venom**, Bullseye**, Juggernaught, Sabretooth**, Omega Red, Klaw**, Grim Reaper**, Abomination, Blastaar**, The Wrecking Crew, Kraven, Hobgoblin, Absorbing Man, Mysterio,

** I'd rank these slightly higher than the others in the group.

I know there's others that have been made: Rhino, Constrictor, the upcoming Vulture, Silver Samauri, to name but a few. Those I'd put in the final category of lower level threats. Not anything to ignore but at the same time, they're not the highest of priorities to seek out unless they're actively causing problems. They are almost always followers.

ukmu 03-30-2015 02:11 PM

En Sabah is right. Someone from India and Pakistan is the common term for Asian here in Britain. Even on government forms, a person of East Asia decent is simply known as Chinese British even if they are from Japan or Korea. In non official documents the term "oriental" is used as a blanket word to not offend. Seems backwards to me but hey, what do I know. But yeah, I agree with you Kernal.

So Sir Ben is of Asian British heritage.

But yeah, the could not have used someone from China as that is now 30% of the cinema market so all studios now shy away from Chinese villains. Also, they were going to use someone from the Middle East, but due to anti Muslim propaganda fear mongering, they went a different route. There are rumours that we have yet to see the last of Mandarin in the MCU and the actor cover may have been a diversion according to statements the cast and crew have said. We will see....

Also, now that Sony has partnered with Marvel Studios for Spidey to be part of the Avengers universe I wonder if we might see Norman back as Iron Patriot?

On another note after almost a year, I have acquired the final parts to make my Arnim Zola and FINALLY complete the HYDRA army!!!!!! Edit: still need 2 HYDRA drivers as I m using the existing ones for something else now. That is what the new chubby Doc Octopus will be for, times two.... Then it is finished!

Magneto, Red Skull, and Loki are nowhere near as dangerous or alarming as Thanos or Apocalypse and should be more in the same ring as Baron Zemo and Mister Sinister. They are brilliant schemers but not the individual powerhouses like the rest of those god-like powers or Kang who is not as much of an individual powerhouse as the rest but an unparalleled schemer since time is kinda meaningless to him which keeps him in that highest tier. It is usually the way of Marvel that the X-Men's greatest villain is Apocalypse/Phoenix, the Avengers' is Kang/Ultron, and then Thanos is the typical universal guy.

I had that thought when I was making the list, quite honestly, and did feel that Red Skull's main threat is in his intelligence. He's not a powerhouse like the others in that category. We will have to agree to disagree on Magneto and Loki though. While they are definitely schemers I do believe they represent a very powerful field threat as well, they simply are very good at being bad off field as well, much like Doom.

Magneto especially we are talking about someone who reversed the polarities of the earth's poles, created a planet wide EMP wave and can potentially control anyone's movements due to the iron in their blood. His powers have fluctuated wildly over the course of his history though so that may tie into what level he should be at. But to me it's proof he has the potential for that level of threat, and it's a level that should not be anything but extreme, IMHO.

I do get what you are saying though, compared to Galactus and Dark Phoenix, those two should really be in a level on their own, it's but I cannot justifiably not include Magneto in the same threat level as Thanos, Apocalypse, Kang, Ultron and Doom.

But it's all a matter of opinion, of course.

Just ordered Omega Red off of Amazon for $9.99 and free shipping. Says that it should be here next week so hopefully I'll have some pics of him getting into a scuff with Wolverine coming up.

I don't know, in Ultimatum Magneto f's up the earths magnetic field, that's pretty damn destructive. I don't recall Apocalypse causing that much destruction (except in alternate realities and possible futures) which pretty much amounts to an in continuity "what if".

Ultimatum represents an alternate reality. Power scales in the Ultimate universe are different and he was using that world's Mjolnir. On a side note, Ultimatum was crap. Magneto in Earth-616 is capable of ridiculous feats of destruction and big schemes, but his ability to also be beaten by Iron Man alone keeps him from being a tier one top dog. He is a high tier two but nobody has enough iron in their blood for him to use against them without that person already being dead from excessive iron. Okay, maybe he could gather it all up in their brain and restrict blood flow thus killing them, but it would be easier and faster to find a paper clip and use that to blind a victim.

Almost all powerhouse villains never actually get to show their stuff in the mainstream continuity. Doom never rules the world for more than a week, Thanos never actually blows up Earth, Apocalypse never wipes out humanity, and Kang never conquers Earth. Alternate realities were practically created to let the bad guys win. If every villain got to be partially successful we'd have a bunch of Onslaughts (the event) over and over. The Earth would be Mad Max level wasted 24/7.

I realized I have a huge box of these guys all loose From the start of the line onwards that I had totally forgotten about until I was forced to go through things for a cross country move. I would buy them, open hem and just store them away and never touch them again :o

I want to sell them since I really have no room anymore...what a Pita it's glong to be to go through them all and know what to even ask for them.

Maybe it's better to just sell them all as an entire lot of figures?

What do you guys think is the best way to go about this?
An entire lot or individuals?
