Like when a brand introduces a product and the brand name becomes the common name. (Aspirin, Thermos etc)
Sure, this is a different situation, but the common misconception can lend validity to a change in definition.

Oh, and ... PLEASE OPEN THE PRE-ORDERS FOR CW WAVE 2 ... I need my fix!

I mean I've personally never had a problem articulating any of the female Legends outside of hair getting in the way of their head articulation.

Ab crunches don't really work for female figures as it messes with the anatomy.

its doesnt look bad on dc icons, and now youre just making excuses for the lack of articulation, how would a waist twist or ab crunch mess with the anatomy women cant twist their waist or bend at the abs?

Some people prefer their ladies to be stiff.

That argument only works if the original change in wording was correct to begin with. For instance, Aspirin IS a pill, and Thermos IS a container.

"Buck" never was a figure, so the first person who called a figure a buck was wrong, and only people who are wrong have perpetuated it.

It would be the same as me calling a figure a "sprue" because the parts come off the sprues after being molded.

xjuza 03-06-2016 12:29 PM

isnt the important thing about a buck is that most people by now know and understand what a buck is when someone says it on a forum. i mean the term "buck" for the base of the body has been used for a while now.

So what do you suggest be done about these "people" and their wrongness? ;)

As far as I know, "bucks" aren't in use anymore, like watching a video or dialing a friend. I'm kinda OK with the new use of an otherwise extinct word. Has a pleasant ring to it.

I'm not making excuses. First off, the DC Icons don't even have waist twists at all so I don't understand where you're going there. They use the same diaphragm system that the lady legends use as a sort of psuedo-waist twist. They have the added ab crunch, though and it is a pretty cool piece of articulation, but you have to consider that adding any joint like that is going to compromise the sculpt since you have to make room for the articulation to make it functional, and especially with Hasbro's focus on curvier proportions for their female figures, it's not going to work as well with Legends as it would with Icons.

Like I said, the articulation on the female Legends works perfectly fine, I really don't understand what problems you're having with posing them. The only issue is really the hair, but there's not really any work around outside of having the hair sit way off of the shoulders which just looks ugly.

so youre saying you can have a female legends crunch down , its just me doing something wrong? and the icons was an example. and the whole "compromise the sculpt since" seeing that these are action figures and not statues thats a given with any piece of articulation. action figures are meant to play and pose if you like not to use like a porno mag. just saying.

Yes, personally, I've never had a problem posing the lady legends how I wanted them to be posed.

And just because it's an action figure doesn't mean it doesn't have to still look good striking a pose on your shelf or in pictures. If that's the case, then everybody would be saying ToyBiz Spider-Woman is better than Hasbro Spider-Woman and that's clearly not the case. It's not about characters looking like they're in a "porn mag" it's about having characters that look like people and not weird freakazoid monsters.

ToyBiz, bless their souls, they were great, but the downfall of a lot of their Legends, particularly their female ones, was a lot of unnecessary articulation that made their female figures look pretty damn ugly. Somebody would have to make a damn good argument for why Hasbro's lady legends aren't ten times better than ToyBiz's despite the decrease in articulation.

i didnt say they look like they're in a porn mag, im saying some people dont want better articulation cause it will ruin the sculpt (meaning eye candy you can get what im implying now right?), so they rather hasbro ruin the figures by limiting their posing. and youre telling me if they can twist at the waist and had an ab crunch like the male figures, you wouldnt on any of the females have a need to use those points of articulation?

and are you mental? the face sculpts and lack of define muscles on every figure is the main reason marvel legends now look better, thats like comparing the first starwars figures made to the ones we have now, im talking about the points of articulation not the sculpts and i also only meaning that between the current male and females not the toybiz ones

Stop participating.

And no, it doesn't matter if everyone "knows" what buck means. Because they don't. Teaching people incorrect information is a shitty thing to do.

anyways, so out of the current marvel legends, which would be the best BUCK for customizing a lasher figure?

Maybe this discussion ought to be in a different thread.

Buck is not the correct word to use in that instance. The word you're looking for is "body."

Lol! Funny.

I only repeated it to show that I'm going to say that every time from now on :^P

I'm on several forums, so I think I'll just copy and paste my original comment every time someone says it :^P

And yeah, I don't have anything against superior Venom.

So... that's a no on Superior Venom being a cool version of Venom?

Just thought that was ironic seeing as no human out there has a waist twist/cut. The more "correct" joint physically is, in fact, the diaphragm umm pivot (or whatever you call it) that the females have. Your belly button (i.e. torso) does not really move independently from your crotch area ....
Not supporting the new MLs in any way, just pointing this out.
Having said that, I dont think the new MLs have an issue regarding articulation but rather, as most people have probably already mentioned, most of the figures have somewhat funky proportions and/or lots of re-used parts.
The DC Icons line is doing it right, imho. They have pretty decent articulation and each one is uniquely sculpted with decent amount of accessories. In a way they are just as good as the Toybiz figures. The only issue (for most) is that they are somewhat smaller than your regular figure.

Boy Blunder 03-06-2016 07:11 PM

We use buck as shorthand. So do plenty of other sites. I've seen very little confusion sorry the use of the term that hasn't been cleared up with a simple question/answer. Language is awesome in that it's currently evolving. Did you know that 'access' used to only be a noun, but it's become a verb too? Crazy.

Unless your name is Buck. Then it might be an issue :D

Jcon 03-06-2016 08:09 PM

Woo! I just won a Hulkbuster for a beautiful price, and my toybiz Classics Venom should arrive tomorrow. By the time Black Panther and the new Iron Man come out, my wallets wounds will be fully healed!!!
