The whole arguement about the proper name for the figure's body should be in another thread...

You're really exaggerating here. I've not held a single lady legends that I felt was "ruined" by the lack of an ab crunch or waist twist. Would it be nice? Sure. But you're acting as if the figure is a statue without it when that's 100% false. Hasbro's obviously not perfect, but I think mostly everyone is in agreement that they've done a terrific job with 99% of their female Legends as of late, which is why it's kinda ridiculous that you'd argue that we shouldn't get more female characters in the Legends line just because they don't have an ab crunch or a waist joint.

I mean, the waist joint is really just redundant on the women anyway. The diaphragm joint covers practically everything you'd use the waist joint for and more while still retaining the look of the figure, since it's practically hidden under the chesticles.

i didnt say we should get anymore females , i said we shouldnt get more females per wave for the price of the ML and needing them to collect the BaF part. and btw the chest part isnt that great on females with zippers if you move it , it messes it look at the waist tho it can be covers with a added belt much like the males.

Black Arbor 03-07-2016 04:53 AM

Man, discussions like these are great for my insomnia :D

While I will agree that the zipper can make for some issues when posing the ladies, I'm a little unsure about the rest of your point here. If you're saying that the women aren't worth the same as the male figures, I would respectfully disagree. Hasbro has been knocking it out of the park with most of the female figures as of late.
I don't mind having to buy female figures to complete the BAF. You also have to remember that recently people have been demanding there be more toys of girls (that whole where's Black Widow/ where's Rey hashtag). I don't see Hasbro giving us a full female wave in the future but you never know.

there has been alot of black widow figures made in marvel legends and i hear so many complaints of ironman and captain america's being made over and over i dont see why when like you say people are demanding more of her when there are way more cooler females to be made in the marvel universe

As I recall, the where's Black Widow thing wasn't meant for just her, but it was an overall statement of "where are the women figures"?
But I wouldn't say there have been too many Black Widow figures made. Toy Biz gave us one, Hasbro has done three (but one was in an Amazon exclusive box set). When we're getting a Cap and Iron Man in almost every wave, their numbers dwarf Black Widow.

there was four made ( 2 movies one with two heads, and two comic ones alt one was an alt version of her in a two pack and im sure they are not done with making her), and seriously i know toybiz started marvel legends but the designs changed and dont look good with the current figures, its kinda like saying dcu and ml look perfect together just cause they are the same height, so can you just stop runing back over to the toybiz era for a defense?

and btw if black widow was a more appealing character im sure more figures would of been made of her i mean marvel characters are super heroes not spies , i dont see a solo movie of her without fans demanding one , but ms marvel will get one, why? cause she has powers while if u want black widow u can go watch a james bond movie.

Dr Kain 03-07-2016 07:11 AM

I disagree. Super heroes don't all have to have powers. The thing that makes them work is they cover all different types of genres. That is what makes DC so frustrating as they have more variety than Marvel. They could easily do a Film Noir movie with Question, a Grindhouse with Spectre, a horror anthology with the House of Mystery and House of Secrets, a western with Jonah Hex, Bat Lash, El Diablo, Pow Wow Smith, etc, a horror movie with Swamp Thing, a slice of life with Animal Man, a boxing movie with Wildcat, etc. Instead, DC will only rely on Batman and Superman.

im note saying heroes need to have powers, but when u think of the avengers she is a backup character (now in comics it may of changed) but i think of wasp and scarlett witch before i think of black widow when mentioned with avengers(ofc this is before the movies forced her on people and when i say forced i mean like how currently agent sharon carter i get it she is a shield agent from way back when but nobody went to see an avenger movie just for shield). its like if a singer gets an action figure and fans want their back up dancers made too, its like what for? and p.s dc did do a jonah hex movie and it sucked, swamp things too.

SymbiSpidey 03-07-2016 08:10 AM

What's wrong with Black Widow getting more exposure from the movies though? She's a cool character and I'm glad she's getting some time in the spotlight. I mean, she's not the flashiest superhero, but that's kind of her appeal in the first place.

Hell, I was playing Lego Marvel with my little sister yesterday and the first thing she asked was where's Black Widow because she wanted to play as her and was so happy she was in the game, so I wouldn't exactly compare her to a "backup dancer".

Ok two things. I don't rely on Toy Biz Legends as a back up to much of anything that I say. So that line about me running back to them, completely uncalled for. I was simply making a point about the number of versions of a character.
Secondly, until a few years ago, I would never have called Black Widow an A-List character. She was a back up in many books. The movies gave her more exposure which brought new popularity to her. Will she get a solo movie? Who knows. I'm sure anything is a possibility at Marvel. They're a business after all. If it can make them money, they'll use it.

yea thats cause she is being forced on people through having screen time, youre telling me if marvel had a chance to make only one movie with it based on only one female character and then no more movies based on super heroes, the movie you would want to be made is a black widow one?

well maybe not you but i meant in general, to skip certain characters cause they got made in the past (toybiz line)

Seriously?
Former Avenger Chairwoman Black Widow?
On and off member since 1973?
I get that you have personal preferences or might not "think" of her that often, but to state she "is" a backup character...

Really, nobody forced or will force you to buy anything. Yes, BAF parts are included with figures you might not want, but even if you feel you need to have those parts, there are plenty of alternatives to get your hands on them.

nice vid but dam those ball joints for the legs, i think only 2 (not counting repaints)iron man figures have the updated leg joints, and ofc the articulation on the mid section sucks too, shame cause the design of armmor looks wicked cool. but hasbro got lucky cause it seems like by judging from this forum noone has a problem with it.

yea she is a back up dancer in the marvel world, i dont ever hear or say need we need the avengers, quick someone call black widow or we cant win this fight.

Captain Nash 03-07-2016 09:28 AM

Wow what an interesting conversation I missed the last few days.

I'm going to say that despite the MCU movies and the push they've given her, Black Widow is not the first female avenger I think of. That definitely would be Scarlet Witch or Wasp for me. But I don't think BW is background Avengers/back up dancer caliber either. she's clearly earned her place as a major Avenger, even leading the team for a long period.

As far as the female figures, Toy Biz never did get the face sculpts quite right, with the exception of the amazing job they did on Phoenix. But, with Hasbro, I think once they got past the first couple of waves they started really nailing those sculpts. I think the female figures are quite impressive nowadays, and don't really give a whit about if they have torso articulation or not, they have plenty of other articulation.

so what if she lead the team who was in it? was captain america or ironman on that team? , nick fury i personaly think could be the leader of the avengers but really when i think of them he isnt even the 5th character from the avengers that comes to my mind.

And so you are saying that you would be fine if they started making all the males with that new iron man buck (with the current legs not ball jointed ones)

Black Widow lead the team with: Captain America, Sersi, Hercules, Crystal, Black Knight, and at times Hank Pym, Thunderstrike and Crystal. It was an odd line up but still, she did lead it. Nick Fury could lead the Avengers I could totally see that, but up to this point he actually hasn't ever been an Avenger yet.

I'm not saying you have to like Black Widow, that's fine if you don't. Everyone has a right to like or dislike whomever they want. But it doesn't change the facts of the roles they have played in comic history.

As for your other question, I'm not sure that an Iron Man buck would be very useful for anyone besides War Machine and other Iron-Man inspired characters (Rescue, Iron Patriot), so no.

But you're talking about leg joints here that's quite a different thing to me. To me personally, as long as there's hip, shoulder, elbow, knee and neck articulation I'm good. Wrist and ankles are awesome too but everything else is really gravy to me. But that's just me. You have a different opinion and i respect that. Just like i ask you to respect that others have a different opinion rather than treat their opinion as dirt as you have been doing.

no you misunderstood me, i meant cause that new ironman buck(the PoA) is basically equal to have the female bucks that are being made (minus the leg ball joints) and i assume you also buy female from ML you would have no problem (and this is just gauging from me having to defend myself on why i think the female figures have bad articulation for the past few pages) if hasbro started using this new ironman buck for all future figure releases.
oh im treating other opinions as dirt now cause im the one going around and telling people they dont know how to pose their figures with the articulation?
