Jim Gordon Batman and Dark Knights of Steel Batman it looks like

I hope jimbo has an unmasked head with and that batman at the end next to him looks awesome, like hes ready to whoop some ass.

snake5289 07-21-2023 09:55 PM

For as random as it was I actually liked Gordon's brief stint as Batman. Plus his suit was awesome.

I dont collect 6" kid toys. But these look fun. Love the cartoon. And maybe this will be a reason to collect a BTAS set.

My gut feeling is that if McFarlane/WBD went this far to get the likeness rights for 5 actors from the most hated Batman movie, then they want to make figures from all of the Batman movies.

Oh, I truly hope you're right!

Now we all know that'll be sold separately as a Gold Label Walmart exclusive...:p

Are these BTAS figures from DCC? Since they are 6", are they the same molds/articulation/accessories? I SURE HOPE SO. Maybe this collection can FINALLY get a Batman Beyond and so many others back out to us!

They've already dropped a multi-pack before this, and they were all re-popped DC Direct figures with slightly different decos. Alfred will be getting a standalone release as well, so anyone who missed out on the old Batcave dio is in luck! I never got deep into the DCD line because of the cost but with how the secondary market prices skyrocketed since then I might get in on the ground floor for these releases.

User897 07-22-2023 07:40 PM

That multi-pack has terrible paint apps so I skipped it. If these new ones have crappy paint and they ditch the accessories, I'll skip them too.

The text blurb talking about non-final paint instead of sculpt implies the existing figures are plain re-releases, but these are revamped, not straight repops: Robin has an ab-crunch, and Batman has double-jointed knees along with what look like ball hips(!). Maybe there were later releases that had these upgrades, like how Scarecrow got double knees? I don't know for sure. Condiment King also looks like he has 1/10-style flexible briefs? That's an improvement if I've ever seen one, because DC Direct hips are some of the ugliest joints this side of ventriloquist dummy mouths.

Y'know that old scam of the guy who would "sell people the Brooklyn Bridge", or more accurately, a certificate saying they owned it that wasn't actually backed by anything at all? Or more recently, those sites where you could pay to "get a star named after you", but of course it was bullshit and no actual official body was recognizing it?

Imagine that but it's also a "bigger fool" investment scam where the objects being ostensibly bought and sold are art/collectibles (usually randomly-generated and very bad looking), trying to get around the inherent lack of intrinsic "collectibility" of digital goods due to infinite duplicability and thus no scarcity by tying it to a special digital certificate that is the thing you're actually buying, but that "certificate" is basically just a link to the image and the link will most likely be dead within a year or two as the site hosting it goes under, and also the system it works on is insanely energy-hungry by its very nature.

The NFT/crypto market already crashed back in 2022, so it's baffling that anyone's still trying to make NFTs happen these days. Except Todd, it makes sense Todd would still be trying to push 'em. He's that kind of dope.

Thanks for an explanation… I still don’t get it, though. Are people paying for a digital picture of Wonder Woman? Rumor says that if people keep buying a picture of WW, then it will increase the retail price of it once it releases? I don’t give a crap about NFT as long as it doesn’t affect its retail price and release.

Before DC Direct switched the BTAS line to Batman: The Adventure Continues, the figures in the second to last wave all had double jointed knees. Some of them, such as Gray Ghost, had the flexible briefs instead of the DCUC style hips. The last wave was all repacks of older figures from a box set.

How is it a Build-A-Figure then? IN fact, how do you even play with an NFT?

Thanks for the correction! I couldn't find anything for DCD like ARAH has YoJoe.com and had to go off of recollections and whatever GIS was giving me.

I won't even buy a digital copy of a video game or movie, there is no way in friggin hell you could convince me a digital picture is worth it either.

I use this website for finding info on the old DCD/DCC lines.

Gold Label Blue Beetle is beginning to hit Target stores. I gave them the DPCI and they pulled one from the back for me.

Also found some of the BB movie figures today.

Comedian 07-24-2023 03:52 AM

I love that Todd is doing the BTAS Diamond figures again, especially those hard to get ones. That said, I have no need for another Scarecrow or Mr. Freeze. I can always use another Batman and Robin, though I wish they had cloth capes for the vehicles….like the other release.

I also agree on the Batman and Robin film figures. If he is doing the least popular of the series (though nostalgia is building for it), then we are getting the other films as well.
