Nice pics LAW!!!!!

glad to see you posting mate!!!!

I see your up to like 20 figures now, good start. You have 2 Caps, 2 Spideys and 2 Wolverines already. If you like those characters and you are new to this line then you are in luck...there are about 712 different ones to collect and they are all usually under a tenner.

You forgot the overkill of figures for this scale, Iron Man. But then there's not 712 of him, there's about twice that. And most of them are still on the retail shelves. :p

Thanks UKMU, actually im on 25 figures including my unopened Moon Knight, I do love those characters you mention but I only have the 2 types of each by chance not through trying to get loads of the same figure, just trying to get the best figure of each character and when I have that will sell the surplus to requirement ones. For instance both my CA aren't brill and I'm sure there are better examples out there. Also really wanted the brown version Wolverine but once in hand don't think its a great figure, will be happy replacing this once I find the astonishing version at the right price. Lastly Spider-man, I have the movie version which as a figure I bet you won't get better articulation wise at the 3.75 scale with 20 points of it, I just wish there was a comic book version of it. The comic book version I got in the comic pack with captain Britain is ok articulation wise but struggles to stand up in most poses.

Am i missing something? maybe a bit of a dig or am i being paranoid??

UrsaMagnus 04-13-2015 01:51 PM

No, no insult intended there. He's just stating that the way a lot of us deal with multiples of figures we get is to do our best to transform them into others. A practice that we all seem to need to better ourselves at since Hasbro is lessening the selection of their own waves.

ukmu 04-13-2015 01:54 PM

no no no... I wasnt poking fun, I am just saying take the best from each and put them all together to make something completely new and unique. Like the three different Absorbing man figures.... i have seen the bottom half from the single carded one (with the white and black strippy trousers) and from the torso up with the Secret Wars 2 pack (the one with the purple pants)

when you mix the two (know as a KITBASH) you come up with a PERFECT figure by taking the best bits of more than one figure. One of our guys, Symbiote, has a recipe for a perfect Spiderman that uses like 6 or 7 different ones maybe! Thats all i was saying....sometimes to get a more perfect version, you have to mix and match.

Zend 04-13-2015 02:05 PM

Speaking of Wolverine.... I don't have a figure of him in either scale. I can't decide whether I should get the Masterworks Sentinel one, the one of from the 2-pack with the ninja, or the X-Men Origins one for his yellow/blue look. Haven't decided on a brown suit one either.

I'm going to finish up my Sinister Six first though, just need Electro and for the new wave with Ock and Vulture to come out.

K Dubious 04-13-2015 02:29 PM

@Law78 I'm really glad you joined the fun man! Your dio is looking pretty solid for your first go round. My only recomendation/advice is to paint everything black first then do the paint washes like you did to create the "texture" for the bricks and stones. Here is an older pic I took and the black base coat really makes things look realistic/gritty.

@Zend my personal favorite Wolvie is the sentinel one. They nailed the size and the sculpt is perfect for 90's Jim Lee era. Even the black side marks are actually molded. Also the Two pack with the ninja is a very odd wolverine. He has huge legs so he stands much taller than all the other ones and his shoulder pads are removable like many of the Ironman figures. Again simply personal preference.

jedirulz123 04-13-2015 02:31 PM

My endeavours failed, Doom is beyond repair. If anyone's got a spare Doom they wanna sell, I NEED one; I'm getting my Hood parts in the post soon and I was SO close to finishing my Cabal.
Any version will do, doesn't even need a cape. Could just be a top half even.

None of those; Astonishing Wolverine is the best Wolverine. He has the bulk, short height, and all the articulation. Brown suit one from Origins is the better one, MU has weird proportions and a fat belly.

I think about 70% of my figures are kitbashed, even if it's just a swapping of hands or weapons.

samsson37 04-13-2015 02:33 PM

Get the SHS doc ok its the best ..looks like him in the comics. The astonishing is the best overall wolverine. The brown works if your making the mid- late 80's team when storm was leader and Scott was running around with that hussy Madeline Pryor lol

ukmu 04-13-2015 02:54 PM

Great tip on the black base came at K.

Yeah, a lot of my stuff is all mixed up as well. Good luck on the Doom hunt, I am constantly lurking for him. They don't pop up often here in jolly old England. You need the brighter green (2pack Secret Wars) or the olive green one (single) I will trade you something beside a Doom for your busted one as I could use him as a battle damaged Doombot perhaps. Maybe some wires hanging from his severed arm?

I.Don't even remember what Wolverine I have... a yellow one. He has the hands and claws from the brown one. If you kitbash a yellow one and a brown one does that make a beige one????

Zend 04-13-2015 03:11 PM

I should've noted I want a Jim Lee or 90's cartoon look. Thanks for the info guys, I'll probably get Masterworks for 90's blue/gold, Origins for brown, and Astonishing for modern blue/gold.

I've already got the new Doc Ock on pre order, but I'll look into the Showdown figure before it comes out. I don't think the new one looks too bad, even though the legs are too long and spindly and he has no torso articulation.

I'm also considering a custom of Jack o Lantern from Venom Vol 2. He wouldn't be too difficult, that RoC Rex GI Joe figure that came with the claws everyone uses for Strucker has the perfect body for him. Just paint the straps and buckles on his body, give him a casted pumpkin head from Vortious and a tattered cape, find a broom stick in good scale and he's practically done. Might need a little sculpt work, but not much.

I'm afraid this Doom was my first proper MU villain so I want to keep as much of him the original as possible for sentiments sake.
I'm sure I can track one down eventually

Thanks for the input mate, it was just a quick go on some old packaging i had, going to get some proper fibreboard for my next attempt and i'll go with the method you suggested, cheers

Not sure this tip would help then, but what I did with mine was take his head and put it on an Ultron body.

It's essentially the same buck, only the waist and torso pieces are different, plus it has the shoulder armor.

I did that to make Doom 2099 for my collection. That might help for future reference though if you need parts to fix him. Ultron and Doom share the same legs, arms, and hands.

Yeah, I had put his head on an Ultron for the time being, but then I'm without an Ultron, and the hunt continues. Doom seems cheaper than Ultron though, so it's easier to nab a new Doom

Nah, but seriously I don't have anything to trade, unless, Pilk, you're looking for an Iron Man 3 Mark 43 Assembler or a Captain America sculpted to be sitting on a bike :/

ukmu 04-14-2015 01:02 PM

to be fair...he offered it to me last week on facebook, I just forgot to answer him! ;( If you NEED him, i could back off though. Also sending Pilkster Blade for a paintjob on 4 Star Wars figures into SHIELD surprises to be revealed here soon!!!!

No, no my friend; he's all yours. I'm gonna try and work something out with Nexodusrex.
10 Ultron's will cost you a pretty penny though
