No the Variant is the plain skin one...They show the metal one on the back of the card...

actually, i was under the impression that both had the other on their card back. metal AM had the skin version on the back and vice versa.

Idk..Its not the best figure..But I wouldn't sell or trade mine for anything.....Its one of my favorite Avengers..

NoodleChow 01-24-2012 02:44 PM

hurmm... guess the only time i'd seen the metal absorbing man was in new york end of last year. never seen him at normal retail so always assumed the metal one was the variant. but if he's on all the cardbacks then that is poor distribution.

Yea like I said earlier, all I've seen is the plain skin...And they all had te metal on the backs...Oh yea Hasbro distribution has always sucked ass...I had to get my IP Osbourne,DM Angel,Astral Strange, and classic Havok all off ebay...Never till this day seen them in stores..

All of them have the Absorbing version as the big picture on the back

The smaller pictures with the other figures of the other characters have the flesh colored Absorbing man

For all we know they made 50% skin 50% metal... it seems we would have a clear idea by now which one was or wasnt the predominant version unless, like I said, the ratio is pretty close. For what its worth, I preordered 3 sets of that wave and all came metal skinned. (not that that means anything....LOL)

both. in any order. :)

as for Vision, i'm sure he will be re-released down the road... but there will be some variation or retooling to his new release - articulation, paint, etc.

Punisher is getting re-done, for crying out loud. Cyclops, Bullseye, Daredevil got re-done.

early MU molds were, as Osborn would say, "templates." :) Hasbro taps in on these forums to stay in touch with the fanbase. online forums are the zeitgeist.

trust me, they read. take notes... and probably laugh at us... only eventually to realize we have great ideas... like updating and re-releasing regular Vision.

Well if hasbro happens to be tapping in right about now:

What is going on with the wave 17 distribution???? and if it's the retailers faults then why won't you sell the harder to get single carded and comic pack figures directly from your website, with a two figure per purchase limit, to limit scalping, and allow collectors to purchase figures at a reasonable cost.

And please! could we get Warbird Mrs. Marvel, Vision, and Classic Havoc in a revision wave? Again sold directly from Hasbro toy shop online, with a two figure limit per purchase? (meaning two of a particular item, not two total figures)

Couldn't have worded it better myself

Agreed!!! The distribution blows chunks. I'd love another Vision and Classic Havok without having to go to evilbay.

IronAvenger 01-24-2012 04:50 PM

did u guys see the 3 foot long helicarrier for avengers toyline yet? 3 feet is pretty big if u think about it, supposedly it fits 1 quinjet landing on it. wonder how its gonna be up close!!

IronAvenger 01-24-2012 04:52 PM

absolutely.

speaking of eBay, i picked up one of these classic Havok's for $7.99 shipped... yes, missing the egg-beater helmet... but i still think he looks a lot better than modern Havok. if you think about it, you'd be taxing yourself a good $35+ bucks for the egg-beater. seems silly to me.

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

That would be great if I didn't collect MOC.

Three feet long sounds cool - but it looks like it might be no more than a foot tall. So, not really in scale to the figures, but a whole lot better than the Super Hero Squad toy! The will certainly not be a GI Joe USS Flagg.

just came from my local target where they had an endcap of the latest MU, managed to snag everyone except for patriot cause i never really cared much for young avengers

They probably can support a little more weight because the arm that connects to the base is a little more sturdy and has a ratchet type mechanism in it. Both stands are kick-ass, but the Stage 5's seemed to be easier to come by (when I was looking at least),.. and they're a $1-$2 cheaper per pack. I never did get a Stage "3" stand to have a comparison, but the Stage "4" stands look the same to me.

Those Stage "5" stands look sweet.

Alright well I get asked this question a lot so here is some more info on the flight stands I use in my displays. The first set are the ones I got from hobbylinksjapan (hlj.com). They come with different color types sold separately. The pack comes with 3 different arms, 3 different claws but the best part (IMO) is that you can change the height setting on these ones. They also have different clasps that work for different sized characters. Unfortunately, they are discontinued the last time I checked.

Then I found these ones at frank and sons. Its the Stage "4" ones which also work well. I also wanted to add that if you buy the completed box set, you should get 3 of the fixed and 3 of the posable arms.
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...7452405386.jpg

Most people use the 3 posable arms but you can use the extra set of 3 fixed arms to add to your GI Joe stands to make 3 additional flight stands. Only a little drilling is required to make the GI Joe hole bigger to fit the peg but at least you get 3 more flights stands out of a pack of 6. I hope this helps you all out.
