Cheers Kirathis! Now I'm contemplating using her original head for Maria Hill. I imagine her to be all hard edges and stern expressions.

The assignment of those flames are steller, BM, especially the use of the Ultimate Goblin one on Hulk's shoulders, simulating Torch's attack rolling off his skin. Very nice indeed!

I don't know whether you're interested, but there's a Star Wars Destroyer Droid figure which has a force field accessory, and it would work perfectly with Sue as a power effect!

TheBlueMarvel 04-08-2016 05:07 AM

@Nitelife
Thanks, man!

@Kirathis
I'm glad you dig them, dude!

@Von
Thanks, mate (hope you don't mind a bit of cultural appropriation lol). Thanks for the suggestion. Is that the blue semi-globular effect you used for Magneto in one of your displays? I may track that down. I've been waiting for something that's more representative of how her powers were classically portrayed, but I may have to abandon my holdout.

Simple mod for a long-time annoyance.
I swapped my Scarlet Witch high heeled feet with a pair of spare Captain Marvel regular feet.
It's not a perfect fit (there's a small gap between Wanda's legs and new feet) but I'm very pleased.
I now consider her height fixed and she stands a lot better by herself.

SW looks great with the non heeled feet. I would almost buy a second Captain Marvel just to be able to do this.

It only took me a year to decide wether I thought it was worth it...

:D

VonPooten 04-08-2016 11:02 AM

^^ You are NOT alone in that! My Misty Knight went all wobbly on account of her hair being made of sturdier plastic than her gummy joints, so I gave Scarlet Witch her feet, and Wanda fits far nicer into the 6" scale now. :D

@TBM, Yes they are the one in the same! I got the idea initially from the wonderfully toy photographer jlcplasticarts, who uses that effect with Sue sometimes. It works very well, and the droid only cost me £7, which is worth it in my books. Do post some photos if you manage to track one down!

Ha!
Misty was next in line in case my first attempt failed.
Now the hunt is on for a very cheap White Tiger to fix my Emma Frost!

@et al
I hate heels on heroes lol So impractical. I can't imagine many female crime-fighters making the choice to ply their craft in stilettos. But hey, I'm sure the fashion choice plays well with the adolescent-male demographic (and some others)!

Nope...not weird at all. I HATE the heels on my Black Cat figure. Outside of the occasional cheesecake piece of artwork, I don't remember Felicia EVER wearing high heels in the comics unless she was in her civies. She would break an ankle or leg the very first time she attempts to land from a high perch, and can you imagine the amount of noise she would make slinking across the wooden floor of a house she's burglarizing?

I've been hoping for some casted feet in white so I can get rid of those wretched heels she has, although I might just settle and pull apart my White Tiger for them.

To be fair though ive never really looked at black cats heels ;)

Got the Final Piece to Complete my Custom Blade. His Shotgun. Clayornot Customs had one casted and painted it up for me. Looks pretty Sharp IMO.

Re: heels. Scarlet Witch is actually one of the only heroes who I consider okay to wear heels because even though it is still generally impractical she's also a very non-physical person. Basically her powers permit her to wear them. Even Emma Frost still makes some sense wearing heels since again her abilities can keep her removed from direct confrontation, also Emma is a vain bitch.

VonPooten 04-08-2016 02:56 PM

^Hah, very true! Emma Frost loves impractical costumes.

@ken, That's a really nice Blade custom you've got there!

Off topic: There's an hilarious instance of this "impractical footwear" discussion in the opening of one of the Resident Evil films. Milla Jovovich is sporting some impossible-to-move-in stiletto heels during an action sequence, but some shoddy editing reveals that she wears flats every time she runs. A failure from a directorial, editorial and logical stance. If you can't run in the shoes, it's not worth the effort to look "sexy."

On topic: Still crummy at photo quality (shaky hands), but I've been playing with lighting in figure displays, and it's pretty fun to mess around with!

Love it man, especially the sentinel giving angel a bitch fist. ;)

TheBlueMarvel 04-08-2016 04:57 PM

@Von
I love this display, Von! The lighting really adds to the kinetic action, the whole scene is bursting with energy. The bright colors play very well against the shadows. As for any shaky focus problems, your hand(s) will get steadier as you take more photos. Not that I'm any sort of pro, but I was able to make modest improvements over time. I hope you continue to post displays, you've "directed" one hell of an action scene here and I'd like to see more!

Emma could also make her heels diamond as well right, as her diamond ability covers over her clothes? Or is it more like Collosus, where it's under her clothing. If it's the latter...that'd make them stilettos into pretty lethal weapons if she's competent enough to throw a kick while standing in them.

I recall her clothes typically staying normal but it is kind of an artist interpretation where some do it differently. Going with what I remember though her clothes stay regular clothes but maybe she wears the same kind of heels like from Jurrasic World so they never break anyway despite what logic would lead you to believe.

Magic heels...must be from forgotten realms. Haha
I remeber like en mostly her clothes stayed normal but i do recall , i think maybe during astonishing emma went full diamond clothes n all? They never explained it but i would imagne she could project it if she wanted?

In the comics she almost always turns her skin, not her clothes, into diamond. Officially her secondary mutation only affects her skin, but First Class messed that up.

Then there are those weird instances where her hair isn't even diamond, but I'd put it down to colourist error rather than canon.

Cheers man! Yeah, I do not like that Angel figure one bit, so the Sentinel took care of him. :p

Thank you very much, BM! I really appreciate it. :D All you need is a dark room and a couple of lamps, and you're good to go! I actually have a small tripod, but since my collection's in a cabinet and I daren't move them, it's shaky hands ahoy.

I'm a big fan of Andrea Divito's art. It's very clean and classic in presentation. He designed an alternate version of Beta Ray's outfit that I feel Marvel should have run with, unfortunately it's been largely forgotten. That was a cool two book arc for this Hulk fan (maybe not so cool for X-fans). They got thrashed by the Green Scar! lol He mops the whole team including many ancillary squads. Loved it! Sorry, mutant lovers...I love the X-men also, but there's a hierarchy.

VonPooten 04-09-2016 01:14 PM

^Oh yeah, most definitely. Hulk was on a roaring rampage of revenge after The Illuminati mucked him up entirely, and I know the X-Men are powerful (uber powerful), but nothing could stop that shockwave of green!

(Wasn't Rachel in space during his attack? She's the only legitimate threat to Hulk I can think of on the X-Men's side)

I have to get all my Spiderman Figs together but here is a quick shot so far. Just got Spider Gwen.

Nice set up!

Recent reading of the Clone Saga got me interested in the Scarlet Spider character, so I ordered him last week and he just came today. One never knows, some day I may become interested in Spider-Gwen.....
